This has been one of my favorite places to order Chinese from. I think they changed owners/chefs recently because it was absolutely awful the last time I ordered last week. To start, they got our order wrong, ok...It happens, but it all went downhill from there. The Sesame Chicken was completely overdone, it was like shoe leather, it's usually outstanding. It had about four sesame seeds on it. We asked for it extra spicy, and it didn't have even a hint of spice. They were supposed to send Beef with garlic sauce, instead they sent some absolutely tasteless chicken dish with what looked like boiled tiny strips of chicken with some vegetables and a TON of that gross baby corn. It was flavorless. We got the combos, so they came over pork fried rice and an egg roll. The rice was mealy, mushy and flavorless. We usually love their rice, it tasted entirely different. There was nothing fried about it, hands down worst pork fried rice I've ever had. The egg roll was hard and greasy with just cabbage inside. Again flavorless. The boneless ribs were just ok, nothing like how they usually are. They are usually very tender and flavorful. These were lacking flavor and fatty. The Wonton soup was completely different as well. What are usually pillowy soft wontons, were thick and gummy. The broth tasted like bath water. So the entirety of our meal tasted NOTHING like the Empire we know and love. This is so disappointing. The same thing happened with Chen's Yummy House. Every time that we find a great place, they change hands and it goes to crap. I just figured I'd warn everyone that this place is NOT the same. I thought maybe they just had a bad night, but I looked at recent Google reviews before posting this, and I see a similar complaint. Out of all the choices on the takeout menu, I decided to explore the two most popular plates. General Tso's Chicken Dinner Combo: The hot, spicy chicken is chewy on the inside while slightly crunchy on the outside; expect a mild kick. I'm satisfied broccoli was included, but my only critique is that I would have preferred that the vegetable was mixed in with the tangy sauce. Also included with this combo is pork fried rice and wonton soup. The three wontons and the broth were piping hot. The noodles go hand in hand with the soup. It is a win win whether you choose to have them dry or soaked. Boneless Spare Ribs Dinner Combo: The ribs are tender and chewy with a savory taste. For this combo, I explored the white rice and egg roll. This appetizer was filled with cabbage and ground pork. I enjoyed it, but the size of the egg roll could have been slightly larger with a tad bit more pork. Both combos can also be purchased as a lunch special if you arrive between 11:00 AM and 3:00 PM. An adequate amount of seating is available if you decide to dine in. Empire Szechaun is open six days per week; arrive any day except Tuesday. It's so hard to find steamed dumplings, but they make the best ones. On top of that, the general tso's chicken and pork egg roll was top notch. I'm glad I found this spot, it's definitely worth checking out. They delivered with no issue and the food was quick and warm. I will definitely be ordering from them again. read more

We've ordered here for years. We used to live around the corner so it was our go to. We moved away about 9 years ago but often order from here still because it's just that good. I love the scallion pancakes, they are not soggy. My only complaint is that they don't list them on any of the food delivery apps. read more

Wonderful options and very plentily! While visiting my boyfriends family in New Jersey he wanted to try all of his childhood favorites and this was a "must try". Loved that they are covid friendly! It didn't seem like there was indoor dining when we went in the middle of August which was fine because we took it to go and they give you your food through a window. We called in and ordered chicken fried rice, pork, and orange chicken which came with white rice. Everything was very tasty and seemed extremely fresh. My favorite was the orange chicken. I definitely have a feeling I will be craving this food. When I come back I will be making a stop here. Forget the reviews and give this mom and pop spot a try! it wont disappoint. Ordered for the first time today and I'd classify this spot as a reliable go to town Chinese spot. Ordered classic egg rolls, lo mein, sesame chicken lunch special and chicken with vegetable lunch special. Food was good, I've had better but still above average. I felt the prices were fair and everything was ready for pickup within 10 minutes! The service was also quick and efficient. Definitely a takeout type spot with no frills but it gets the job done. Sorry-hate to give a business in my town a bad review especially one that is quick and friendly and liked by many BUT tonight I ordered lo-mein, pork fried rice and chicken with broccoli. 1. I have to add that they said food would be ready in 10 minutes (I arrived late and ate 1.5 hrs AFTER it was ready) 2. They offered free sodas for over $20 thats cool even though we dont drink soda LOL 3. They were busy, people were waiting, they hd crazy deliveries and they were attentive and nice when I arrived. Now for the reasoning behind my low rating :( 1. Chicken with broccoli - chicken was super chewy and gummy and well-just didnt taste nor feel like chicken 2. Pork fried rice was the driest rice I have ever had and the pieces of pork were super tiny and dry 3. The lomein was super thick and undercooked-just not for us! Cheap eats, great quality, and consistent every time. Have been ordering from Empire for about two years after my last favorite Chinese place dropped the ball too often. What I like the most is the owner's flexibility on orders, which many other restaurants refuse to accommodate. I've been a loyal customer here for several years and have had a consistently excellent experience. I sometimes even eat there if I'm running errands--it's a roomy place, so there's always an available table. The food is less greasy than many Chinese takeouts, and it's really fresh. Delivery is quick, they pack as much food as possible into the containers and everyone is attentive and accommodating. This is just standard classic Chinese made for Americans, to a high standard. And if you like roast pork egg foo yung, theirs cannot be beat! We almost always get the house special soup, which is a simple chicken broth packed with meat, vegetables and shrimp. read more

Very disappointing. I enjoyed the won ton soup and shrimp lo mein on my first visit a few weeks ago when I needed to eat something soft after dental work. I thought I would try them again for my favorite dish, General Tso Chicken. Absolutely dreadful. This is the dish by which I measure all Chinese restaurants. It should be an absolute no brainer and consistently good standard dish to make. In this case it was dreadful. The chicken was bone dry and chewy. It appeared to be compressed pieces of shredded chicken parts. The sauce provided no flavor at all. Served on a bed of even drier pork fried rice. I ordered and waited at the restaurant and brought it home, so there is no excuse of food sitting around waiting for me to pick it up. The house special lo mein was good. Noodles thicker than most restaurants. Slightly thicker than standard number 9 spaghetti. The won ton soup was also good. I can not recommend this restaurant after being served an awful meal that should be good every time. I would have sent it back had I dined in the restaurant. Dumplings were thick and heavy with a cloying sweet sauce, the lobster sauce for the shrimp was thin and tasteless, soup was totally tasteless and they left out one chicken dish that we ordered.
