Excellent service! The food was delicious and big portions. We had the molcajete and steak fajitas. Both were delicious and left us with plenty of leftovers. We also recommend the house lime margaritas. I've been going here for years and it's by far my favorite Mexican restaurant.

This one good Mexican food place where they serve chips and salsa first and then asks what you would like to order and that's how it should be. I had the fish tacos recently and it great. The fish was grilled well and seemed fresh. My co workers got the tamale lunch, taco lunch, quesadilla and I did not hear anything but praise from them. The serving staff made sure that we were good and my co workers who visit this place regularly have told me that the servers haven't messed up any of their orders o far. They also have outdoor seating available and the employees are wearing masks. The prices are very low for the quality of food. There is ample parking space available right outside the restaurant and it's not a street Would recommend this place to a friend

Chicken nachos with nachos on the side.

Ordered a large chicken nachos with nachos on the side. I have ordered this for over 10 years. I usually order a small chicken nacho, which comes in this size container with that much food. So why did the price double for the same amount of food. This was very disappointing diffently not $10 worth of food.

Vegetarian a combo, a chalupa and a cheese enchilada with a side of beans.

Called in for takeout, asked for two vegetarian combos, an A and an E. Got two As and an E. I paid for them and took them because I hate wasting food. The main dishes were solid, although drowning in sauce, not my personal favorite. The As had dollops of good guacamole. The takeout order came with chips and the salsa was decent.

It is good ,go every week, taste good, staff very nice, amazing quality, on scale of 1-10 it is a 10 should be a 5 star restaurant.

    Colorful decor, beautiful chairs

Surprised to find this place so cute on the inside and the food pretty tasty. Pretty spacious and the chairs looked so pretty! At a glance the restaurant was quite clean. I enjoyed the chicken fajita taco salad with its smoky grilled chicken flavor and tasty queso. The chips and salsa on the house were also good. Service was prompt, lunch prices affordable, good sized portions. Whoo!

Food is always excellent and Thomas is the best waiter. We love their salsa, the Burrito Cholula and the shrimp fajita quesadillas.

Fair food a definitely starting to be more like a chain. Quality slips each time until we stopped going altogether.

The air itself shimmered with the scent of roasted peppers and slow-simmered adobo, as if the souls of flavor had risen to bless this humble establishment. The chips arrived -- golden, audaciously crisp -- and the salsa... my word, the salsa! It danced upon my tongue like a mariachi serenade at sunset. Each bite was an ode to freshness, a love letter written in cilantro and lime. Then came the burritos -- big fat beauties, wrapped in warm flour tortillas that felt as though they had been hand-crafted by the angels themself. The chicken was tender enough to make a grown man question the meaning of existence; the potato fries, smoky and transcendent, whispered secrets of ancient kitchens long forgotten by time. The service? Flawless. The staff glided between tables with the grace of seasoned diplomats and the warmth of lifelong friends. In short: this restaurant doesn't just serve food -- it serves an experience, a revelation, a rebirth of the senses. If I could give it six stars, I would. If I could move in, I might.

Place was clean on the inside. Order at the counter, and seat yourself. I had the birria tacos, and a side of rice. The birria and sauce was phenomenal. If you want Tex mex or arroz con pollo, do not come here as you will not find it here. This is as authentic as it gets and honestly everything we had was fantastic. It definitely is a hole in the wall type of joint so nothing fancy on the inside. We were amazed at the amount of variety they had to offer. The owners were very nice and accommodating. We got recommend to try out the Tlayudas which are essentially large thin and crunchy tortillas filled with whatever meat, beans, cheese, and cabbage. I got the asada and my sister got the chorizo. They were so tasty and honestly huge. One Tlayuda is probably good for two to be honest but I powered through one myself. My dad ordered some tacos, one Al pastor, tripe, and suadero. He thought they were very good. It's nice to know that there's something like this in Shelbyville as there seems to be an abundance of Tex mex style food here. Will come back and try some other offerings from their menu.

It was delicious, and we've eaten there a few times since and always have a great experience. We both have been wanting to try some of their lunch specials, but we work and can't get there to check it out. We were off today and decided to go there for lunch because they were having chicken and noodles, and that's one of my favorite meals. It did not disappoint at all. My boyfriend and I both enjoyed our meals and even ordered seconds to go, so we could have it for dinner. The chicken and noodles came with mashed potatoes, corn or green beans, and a roll. You could definitely tell the food was homemade too. Delicious! The Farmhouse Diner isn't a very big restaurant and can get pretty busy. It reminds me of a little country diner where all the local farmers and their wives go to eat breakfast and lunch. The staff is always super friendly and attentive too. We will definitely be going back.
