Me and my boyfriend moved back to Indiana from San Antonio about a year ago. We live in Shelbyville and we were told about this place while eating dinner at a Mexican Restaurant one evening. We decided to check it out for breakfast. It was delicious, and we've eaten there a few times since and always have a great experience. We both have been wanting to try some of their lunch specials, but we work and can't get there to check it out. We were off today and decided to go there for lunch because they were having chicken and noodles, and that's one of my favorite meals. It did not disappoint at all. My boyfriend and I both enjoyed our meals and even ordered seconds to go, so we could have it for dinner. The chicken and noodles came with mashed potatoes, corn or green beans, and a roll. You could definitely tell the food was homemade too. Delicious! The Farmhouse Diner isn't a very big restaurant and can get pretty busy. It reminds me of a little country diner where all the local farmers and their wives go to eat breakfast and lunch. The staff is always super friendly and attentive too. Food was Fantastic! We had the breakfast bowls, biscuit, scrambled eggs, tater tots covered in sausage gravy, topped with bacon crumbles. I eat a lot and this was too much. They have pancakes the size of a large dinner plate! Service quick! Quiet, friendly atmosphere. Definitely a place to stop. Name changed to Flying Pig Diner. Locals are very friendly. Country Diner is a real gem. Great home cooked food from 6am to 1:30pm. The hand breaded tenderloin sandwich was large and meaty. Daily specials like beef manhattan, beans ham cornbread with fried potatoes, chicken and noodles, and great breakfast choices. Plenty of parking with room for semi's and right off the highway. Typically very busy, we arrived at 12:45 and had excellent service. read more

Great parking big enough for semi's. Was able to adjust the menu to get my favorite. Breaded tenderlion on biscuits and gravy with home fries and eggs all on one plate. Great service and food. Small place and you actually have to know it there. If your driving by give it a try well with the stop. read more

Found this gem while traveling from Cincinnati to Milwaukee. Menu has plenty of choices, we had the BLT with onion rings, the daily special - which was chicken and homemade noodles, and a smoked sausage sandwich with fries. We were driving through and saw this diner as we passed by. It is exactly what you would expect from the name. They had everything that a country diner should have... There were groups of older people sitting around catching up over coffee. There were little ones eating with their families. And most importantly, the food was everything that you would expect. So, I left a lesser review of this place based on the time I stopped in. I have tried it again a few times, and service is exceptional, and the food is served HOT. So many times I get food at restaurants that is not really hot, and I have gotten used to that standard. This place definitely serves hot food. I was pleasantly surprised. Great diner! We just had a great lunch. We both got the walleye sandwich, which was one of the specials. The slaw and macaroni salad are homemade and really good. The onion rings are not homemade, but good. And the homemade coconut meringue pie was maybe the best I ever had. The people were nice - very helpful and friendly. This place is so damn good..and the peeps in here are super friendly and very down to Earth. You will get your money's worth eating here..so I highly recommend it. Proportions are very adequate and extremely filling. Everything I have ever ordered has been better than good..and this is one of those places that comes as close as it gets to a home cooked meal. My only complaint is that the sodas have a funky taste due to the the rural system. But the food dominates that factor..so stop in and get full..and fat. AND..the price is nice!! This place, these people, are so amazing. They opened up their doors and cooked for us after they had already closed. We ordered the two daily specials. The pot roast and the walleye. Both were decadent!! The slow roasted pot roast and mashed potatoes rocked my world! I had a bite of the walleye and was wishing I had more room left! It was delicious.
