Loved this place. Mac n cheese best I ever had. Cocktails are fantastic. I'm going to model my Christmas cocktails after theirs. Terrific service in a cozy warm place. Recommend!!

Came here for dinner with my husband while in town. We had a reservation so we were seated promptly. The ambiance was very nice and romantic. Our waitress was very nice. I tried the soup off the day salmon & cream cheese bisque. For entrees I got the ribeye with asparagus and my husband got the filet mignon with mac & cheese. The steaks were seasoned and cooked perfectly. My husband didn't like the mac & cheese so he was able to switch it for asparagus which was cooked perfectly as well. My husband got an old fashion and I tried the blood and sand cocktail. The drinks were good. My husband really enjoyed his old fashion. Definitely a great spot for date night!!

My husband moved to Staunton mid June. We've visited CHT several times..usually we just get a few apps and drinks. Both have been solid. We started with the Fried VA Oysters and an Old Fashion and the Big Apple. All were great! We were given a "amuse-bouche" as alittle something extra for my birthday sent by the chef. It was everything I love about fall in a bite! Thank you Chef! Also, I swear the playlist was as if I had chosen it: Amy Winehouse, Dusty Springfield, Tracy Chapman... really set a nice tone. Being my birthday I chose CHT as my birthday dinner. Having Bariatric surgery 5+ years ago, we usually don't do entrees and if we do we split them and usually end up with take home.. hence why we get mainly apps. Anywho, special occasions we get separate meals. Someone had recommended the meatloaf - it did not disappoint, this is not your diner meatloaf. Flavorful, moist - I actually was preferring it over the fillet Mignon! We ended on splitting the carrot cake. We took a few bites and took it home. Amazing meal.

Absolutely delightful dinner. Very simplistic in its ambience not overly fancy in its menu but delicious with its farm to table offerings. The mac & cheese is to die for as is the crème fraîche mashed potatoes. But it's the focaccia bread with the sea salt butter is what I'm dreaming about now at 1:30 in the morning. Dress code was business casual, but I saw people wearing shorts which was odd on a Saturday night in one of Staunton's nicer restaurants Parking can be slightly difficult on a weekend evening so you may need to park in the Frederick House lot or between North Augusta and Lewis Streets median near the bank. Prices are a bit higher than average, for the area, but is a nice treat for a special occasion. Service was wonderful and server was super friendly and helpful with suggestions.

Went for anniversary dinner because the chop house in Harrisonburg has been a special place to us. It did not disappoint. Such a quaint, cute restaurant, small size but makes the vibes good. Both service and the food was excellent. It's nice to have this option closer to home. We'll definitely be back!

We decided on the Green Room because we had not been there in a long time. We were very happy with the menu selections of appetizers, sandwiches and salads. They have an impressive wine and beer selection, sodas and water too. Their outside setup is very nice with tents for shade, comfortable plastic chairs with cup holders and fake grass a little ambience. The service was a little slow at first but then were very attentive and helpful. The inside is immaculate and the bathroom was very clean (always a plus and positive sign). We got the chips and onion dip to start which were yummy! Then we got a Turkey sandwich and a club sandwich. Both were delicious and stuffed full, we could only eat half. We got a coke and a Veil Brewing Co. IPA to drink. The Veil is one of the best brewing companies on the East Coast and not easy to find outside of Richmond, VA. We thoroughly enjoyed our lunch experience here!! Great job!!

And then, not only do they have beers, but also high quality sodas, like San Pellegrino. What's not to like?

I planned an afternoon and overnight stop in historic Staunton, Virginia on my way to vacation in…read morePA. There are so many options in this lovely town but I made a reservation at Zynodoa because I have been on a farm-to-table kick lately. The servers and hosts were all lovely, interacting with both the guests and each other professionally and amicably. My server Sarah gave me as much attention as anyone else, even though I was the only person dining alone. I ordered the tomato and burrata appetizer. I am not a big raw tomato eater but I knew if these were truly farm-to-table, they would taste good, and they did. The flavor felt like a combination of sunshine and a warm hug! The cheese tasted like a sweet kiss. The portion was substantial, and there was balsamic reduction and a generous amount of coarse pesto. I ate the whole thing! For the main course I ordered the flat iron steak. Because I was traveling and didn't want leftovers, I asked the server for a smaller portion than listed, but either I wasn't clear or it wasn't an option--It's okay, though. I ordered the steak medium rare but it was a shade above rare; again, okay. Sides were good but I added salt. The meal was a bit pricey but probably fair given that it was sourced locally. I agree with some of the other reviewers that the chef is heavy handed on the sauces, which may not be everyone's cup of tea. Oh, I ordered the pinot noir and it was good, smooth, balanced. Overall impression of Zynodoa was it felt like visiting the home of a friend with a garden who loves to cook and share with her friends. The portions were generous and the seasoning was substantial. I highly recommend to anyone visiting Staunton.

An excellent and inventive restaurant in Staunton that punches way above its weight. My wife and I…read moretraveled to Staunton recently and were advised to try Zynodoa. The cocktail and mocktails were flavorful and well priced. Our waiter was great. Very knowledgeable about the menu, town and ingredients. We started with the Chicken Liver pate. This was well prepared, although I hate when a restaurant provides an odd number of toasts for two people. We asked for an extra piece and thought it was funny that they gave us exactly one. FYI- it comes with several accoutrements which were tasty, but the mustard was really the most satisfying. My wife had the brisket, which I would call a must have. Fantastic Asian spices, fried rice ball and Kimchi. Just an explosion of flavors. I was glad she shared. (This is uncommon) I had the pork chop and it was really pretty. Unfortunately, it lacked flavor and I had to carve off the fat which made up about 1/3rd of the chop. The bone was the other third...so it turned out to be a thick but modest cut. That said, it was on a lovely bed of mash and some of the best blue and white carrots I ever had. We finished with the carrot cake. (All of the desserts are made onsite.) which we learned was gluten free. Honestly if it was marked GF I wouldn't have ordered it. Anyway, when it arrived I thought we received the wrong thing. It looked like a decorative cliff bar. Once we took a bite we were blown away by the flavors and texture. It was delicious. Such a great experience. We were near the kitchen, so we got to see the head chef get orders out. There were some highs and lows, but the overall experience was really nice.

The prime rib was cooked well, the mussels were flavorful, and the barbecue platter had a good variety. The service was great--fast, courteous, and attentive without making us feel rushed. The restaurant was clean and had a nice atmosphere. It felt lively and energetic, but it was not too loud to have a conversation. Overall, this was a solid dinner and a place I would recommend when visiting Staunton. I would definitely eat here again.

The inside reminds me of a Chili's or Ruby Tuesday, but a bit darker. I think it's a nice atmosphere, appropriate for date night, a group, a family, etc. Our server (who has worked here for 3 years) was friendly and efficient. To start, we ordered a bowl of yesterday's soup special (She crab) and a small order of boiled shrimp. The soup was excellent, creamy, and with small pieces of crab throughout. The shrimp (six in the small order) were prepared well and came with a tangy cocktail sauce. The server brought over a loaf of their complimentary bread, which is actually three breads together in a single loaf. The bread was good (I preferred the dark loaf part) and came with a peach butter. We were told that the butters change periodically. The butter had pieces of peach in it (!) and we enjoyed the novelty. Our server mentioned that they also have a pistachio butter and maple butter. Yum. I ordered a salad with the balsamic vinaigrette dressing on the side. The salad itself was good - fresh, with crisp lettuce, tomato, cucumber, apple, almond pieces, etc. Then there was the dressing. Although I mixed the salad dressing in the cup before tasting it, when I did taste it, it was almost all oil with no discernible vinegar or other flavor. I kept stirring and tasting and nothing. So I abandoned the dressing. For entrees, my partner ordered the charbroiled salmon in herb butter with a side of broccoli. The salmon was prepared well and very tasty. I ordered the mahi-mahi, with the sun-dried tomato butter sauce on the side. The mahi-mahi was well prepared and tasty on its own. Honestly, I tasted the sun-dried tomato butter sauce and it was essentially whipped butter. I didn't think it added anything to the entree so I didn't use it. The potato came with butter and sour cream on the side. The potato was very good. Although we were full and not planning on dessert, the server came over with small cups of peppermint ice cream, calling it a "palate cleanser." It was very good and a nice touch. Other than the salad dressing and the sauce for the fish, it was an excellent meal in a nice atmosphere with good service. When we were leaving at around 7:00 pm, the line was out the door.
