I am a big fan of this restaurant. However, if you play golf and could enjoy a nice sandwich or anything thing to your liking you will be an even bigger fan of this restaurant. One of the more underrated restaurants in crozet. The service is great, quick and efficient. You can also make reservations at this restaurant which my parents enjoy. I believe this restaurant has a great vibe and ambiance. Also my sister held her sweet 16 here and it was a huge hit. This restaurant is 5 stars. read more

$60 a person for a buffet And the buffet itself was grossly mediocre. Sure, the omelet was fantastic, but for $60? Everything tasted like cheap wedding catering. Truly think to yourself this: would you rather pay for a great breakfast AND be able to have mimosas for less than $60, or have a mediocre breakfast with no alcohol for that price per person. Went here for restaurant week and wow - this was the place to be. Located out in Crozet, this was such a beautiful location with some scenic views. We were seated in a lovely, dimly-lot dining room quickly and quickly made our choices: I went with the firecracker shrimp, the seared duck with risotto, and the french silk pie. The firecracker shrimp was flavorful with just a hint of spice and was well-balanced by the slaw served with it. I'm not the biggest duck fan, but this duck was just lovely and hearty. The risotto itself was my favorite part of the dish, perfectly creamy and rich. The french silk blew your store-bought french silk pie out of the water and was so rich yet light and was a great way to end the meal. Would definitely choose to go here for a special occasion and I can't wait to have an excuse to go back! read more

Friendly personnel, checked up on us very often... no complaint there with friendliness. Main complaint is that their rice is watery and the sauce on the salmon is not very appetizing. Pricing is not anything crazy, but the food is also not anything wonderful. Definitely recommend for a quick bite every once and a while if you're visiting Crozet, but again... nothing crazy delicious, both my salmon and rice were extremely watery. Do want to add: amazing view of the golf courses as well as a great view of the mountains with amazing scenery. Not busy at all when I came by around noon. read more

Decent American food. I visited Restoration at Old Trail during restaurant week. The outdoor patio has a lovely view of the mountains and the music selection was upbeat and played at a comfortable volume. I ordered the cauliflower bisque, the salmon, and the key lime pie. The cauliflower bisque was delicious with a welcome hint of spice. The salmon was a bit plain, but it was not unappetizing. The key lime pie was just about as good as can be. Overall, I think the food at Restoration at Old Trail is solid and I am interested in returning. read more

Not sure who publishes all these 5* reviews but mine isn't going to be one of them. First of all, the drink order took seventeen minutes, from greeting to presentation. Twenty-two minutes later, the server came to get our entrees. Thirty-one minutes the entrees came. The $45 tenderloin actually had gristle (a tenderloin?). The fried chicken on the cobb salads were blackened and dried out. No explanations for delays but the server was shocked we didn't like our food. A real shame that it was my wife's birthday and this is her memory to finish the day. We don't dine out extensively, so we were looking forward to having a nice meal out and supporting local business. Unfortunately, this the worst meal in memory. I wished I had taken pictures. We were there for the first night of Restaurant Week. I had Firecracker Shrimp and E had Beet Salad. Shrimp was fine as was the salad although it was really an arugula salad w a beet garnish. E's steak had no sear but was a decent MR -- sides were not good. My Pork belly was a slab of undercooked pork fat which was absolutely inedible. I sent it back and got a pasta dish which was cold and not very good. Desserts were like something from the frozen aisle of Food Lion. When I complained, the manager said that all the other diners had enjoyed their dinners. There were about 20 people on the restaurant and most had not even eaten yet. read more

Definitely glad we walked here! What a delicious spot tucked away in Old Trail. If you are looking for a fresh menu, and something a little more upscale in Crozet, this is a great option! As an Old Trail resident, I would love to give Restoration a 5-star rating. The setting and atmosphere is fantastic. The service is super-friendly. I met a friend for happy hour and had a couple of beers. The drafts and bottles were not very cold--either something is wrong with their refrigerator or someone is trying to save money. We ordered some calamari and it came out with maybe four bites of food and it wasn't crispy. I've had a lot of calamari and something wasn't right with the portion, type (only small rings), temperature (not hot), and texture (soggy batter). Alternatively, we ordered the fried goat cheese and it was great. So, the physical space is awesome but the food and drinks were mostly a miss. I hope they fix it because it could be a great spot. read more

Came here for my 21st birthday lunch after going to a vineyard and cidery. BEAUTIFUL drive and view! Truly worth a trip just for the scenery. I also had no idea it was part of a golf club. My family and I sat in a igloo which was nice and warm. The food was great!! I'm vegetarian, so I requested their panini without meat, which was tasty. I wish it was a little cheaper after having removing most of the filling from the sandwich, but it was fine. read more

After a round of golf we ordered a few drinks and the cheese board at Restoration. Our waitress seemed like she was a bit grumpy. In her defense it seemed like a busy evening and maybe she was over it but sometimes you have to fake it and let whatever is annoying you go. So the cheese board was absolutely awful. The best things on it were the pita crackers. It came with sliced ham, bologna (I think - which is gross), cheese cubes (like you can buy in a bag at the grocery store), some cheese spread that tasted more like mayonnaise thank anything else but really had zero flavor to it), finally there were golden raisins and crasins on the board as well. Not one thing in this board had any flavor or bite to it. The bologna mystery meat when paired with the mayo-ish cheese spread tasted like nothing but a bologna sandwich. The cheeses where all mild. The meats had zero spices on them. In summary this cheese board was very disappointing and not worth the money. It really pains me to be writing this review because my family and I have been going to Restoration since I was in high school. It has had its up and downs over the years (and multiple owner changes) but this was by far the worst it has ever been. To set the scene, it is Mother's Day and I wanted to take my mother and grandmother to restoration for what I assume will be a very nice brunch. My grandmother had taken the time to call ahead to make a reservation and ask if we would be able to order off the regular menu because we knew it would be Buffett style, she was told yes. We arrive at the restaurant, and it takes them ten minutes to even come over and seat us. I am immediately concerned when I see a mostly empty room and very few people outside. It then takes about another 10 minutes for our "server" to come over and ask us what we want to drink to which he only brings out half our waters and it takes him a long time to bring the other half. We ask if we can see the menu since we were told we could order off of it. Not only was that incorrect but the buffet was hands down some of the most mediocre food I have ever had. We were there around an hour and a half, with most of that time waiting for our server to even come check on us so we could get our check. Finally we decide we are just going to go up front and ask to which my grandfather discovers the price per person for this experience. What should have been at most a $30/person meal (and that's pushing it) was $60/person. To say I was shocked is an understatement. I will not be returning for a very very long time. read more

The Restroom needed attention. Sides with entree were miniscule. For the food you get and the service offered, the prices are ridiculously high. We do not ever mind paying money for a nice evening out in a beautiful setting, with attentive and professional service and excellent food. None of these points were hit at Restoration during our visit....except for the expensive tab. Think twice or 3 times before going there. Bottom line: I should have listened to my friends. Found this gem on a road trip recently from D.C. and couldn't have been happier. The patio is gorgeous and dog friendly, service was excellent, and food was fantastic. We were blown away with how great the apple pork rib appetizer was, and the burger was delicious. We also had the cucumber cocktail and another drink, which were both perfect. Chef Shane has turned this kitchen around. We had an exceptional Father's Day dinner on the patio: scallops & pork belly, sea food alfredo, steak au poivre, and eggplant parmesan with key lime for dessert. Brunch for four. Making a reservation was difficult. Online reservations don't book a time. Instead, it says someone will contact us. Didn't happen so called to confirm. When we arrived, we noted the place was nearly deserted! So much for needing a reservation. There may be a formal "dining area" somewhere but we were seated in the bar. No worries. Order Bloody Marys which were good and one Mimosa which was OK. Appetizers: Calamari (frying was nice but the calamari was a bit dry and the quantity somewhat lacking); Fried Oysters (again, good fry and somewhat tasty but small and not many). Mains of Biscuits and Gravy which was reported to be "Just Ok". One of us had a waffle with reports that it was very good. Others had a Breakfast Skillet with Prime Rib. Here's where they don't scrimp on the meal. Chunks of prime rib with potatoes, cheese and eggs. Wasn't bad but, as was noted with the Biscuits and Gravy, the meals were lukewarm at best. Also noticed the kitchen was very slow in delivering. This tell us the food may likely have been sitting on the service bar under heat lamps pending delivery. Don't know... It wasn't cold enough to send back however. Service was good. Server was friendly and patient when we asked for more time to decide. So, to me, Restoration is an enigma. Perhaps the challenge was the "After Brunch" rush and reduced staffing? Regardless, in my opinion, the foods needs some polishing with portion and temperature controls looked at. The service is polite which went a long way toward bettering a so-so meal. Given inflation, we expected higher prices but these seemed a bit more than usual. Would I go again? Maybe. The food, service and ambiance isn't bad; the prices are a bit high but, all-in-all, Restoration is a serviceable restaurant. I hope they can polish things up a bit.. The portions are very fair for the price! The mac & cheese was SO good. Everything we ate was good, zero complaints. I always forget to take food pics... If it wasn't for the nice Bloody and good burger it would have gotten a lower rating. I ordered a medium done burger. Came to me raw in the middle. To their excuse it was a thick burger. I told the waitress after she finally came to me 1/2 way through...(after me picking at the burger for a period of time and placing big portions of raw meat on the side of the plate). She asked if she could get me a new one. I said no. No mark down on the price. No hey, can I get you desert or anything. I paid full price. Not surprised after the initial interactions that it would be as such. First impression/interaction with staff: Place wasn't busy. I waited at the hostess stand to be seated. Finally got addressed after a customer yelled up to the bartender that someone was there. I have my dog in his bag. I asked for outdoor seating (Website states it is dog friendly). The gal has me exit the building and walk around. It literally is approximately 15 feet to get from hostess stand to the patio entrance and a clear path...he was not on a leash=awkward and quite frankly rude. I waited at the table for over 5 minutes before even getting a menu. There was a delay in getting things brought to me as well. Never got any water. Gal was on the gruff side, but all in all alright. I live near Restoration and my family and I go often. I've never had a bad meal. Good beer selections, great food (the Royale is amazing), and breathtaking views of the mountains. UPDATE: I have to change my review to "I've never had bad food." Since posting this review, my family and I have continued to go often. 4 times, my wife has gotten her food MUCH later than the rest of the table and the most recent time, I went with my daughter, and they served my burger SO late that she had finished eating hers before I even laid eyes on mine.
