We had a fabulous meal here on Sunday 3/8/25. First, it was great to find this gem open on a Sunday night. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Second, the location was amazing. The server took our order and food/drinks arrived in a timely manner. The manager came over to check on us, give us a little history on the building and offer her condolences. Myself and a friend went here for lunch on a Saturday afternoon following a historic train ride on the VA scenic rail way. We sat outside on the patio in the lovely weather under an umbrella. We ordered unsweetened tea and an Arnold Palmer. She didn't quite understand the Arnold Palmer, but was gracious and fixed it quickly when she realized the error. We both got salads. He got the Cobb minus bacon plus fried green tomatoes. I got a strawberry arugula salad minus goat cheese plus salmon with a jalapeño lime ranch. The salads were fresh and fantastic. We tried the spiked hot chocolate drinks as it was a cold day, and they were delicious! The appetizer was their crab dip, and WOW was it decadent! my daughter ordered the Tavern Burger and I had the Italian Foccacia. Both handhelds were exactly as ordered and perfectly crafted. I love fried green tomatoes so inquired. They are House Made. I asked our server Zoe and she confirmed by going in back to talk to chefs. She said they told her much of their items are house made! We ordered as our Starter. They were wonderful! Came out hot and with it was a corn relish and pimento cheese spread. (I posted a picture) My husband ordered the godfather pizza. It was loaded. Our waitress recommended one of her favorites which was the Italian focaccia sandwich which I had. It was also wonderful. What was nice also were the choice of sides you can choose. Came here with my hubby for dinner on a Saturday night, we ordered the Kale Caesar salad, the Jumbo Buffalo Wings to start, both tasted amazing. Tons of flavour. And then had the tenderloin for dinner, it was cooked perfectly and tasted great with potatoes and squash. We also had the God Father pizza and man, it was delicious. We ordered two cocktails which both came very light on alcohol. When asking for a little more so that we could enjoy our drinks to our taste we were told that we already had 2 oz and that was plenty. I believe they didn't serve us any at all. Then our pizza came out covered in both honey and cheese to the point that the honey was covering the plate as well. It seems to be a beloved local spot in the area. The restaurant is spacious, offering seating both on the main floor and upstairs. It took a while to get our entrees but drinks and apps came promptly, and when the food did get there it was hot and tasty. I got the strawberry salad and added chicken.
