This past weekend we went to downtown Staunton to have lunch and enjoy the beautiful weather with the outside seating that is now available with Beverley Street blocked off to traffic for the summer. We decided on the Green Room because we had not been there in a long time. We were very happy with the menu selections of appetizers, sandwiches and salads. They have an impressive wine and beer selection, sodas and water too. Their outside setup is very nice with tents for shade, comfortable plastic chairs with cup holders and fake grass a little ambience. The service was a little slow at first but then were very attentive and helpful. The inside is immaculate and the bathroom was very clean (always a plus and positive sign). We got the chips and onion dip to start which were yummy! Then we got a Turkey sandwich and a club sandwich. Both were delicious and stuffed full, we could only eat half. We got a coke and a Veil Brewing Co. IPA to drink. The Veil is one of the best brewing companies on the East Coast and not easy to find outside of Richmond, VA. What a fun vibe! We stopped in on a Friday evening and found it to be a happening scene. We grabbed a spot on a couch up front. The beer list is quite solid. Hubs opted for a Fonta Flora from NC and I did the Dewey on draft. Feeling peckish, I ordered a That's My Jam. The waitress was kind enough to point out it's now peach chutney (no problem). The sandwich was larger than anticipated. The baguette was lovely, chewy but soft at the same time. We opted for vinos next. I thoroughly enjoyed my Malbec. At this point, Hubs gets peckish and we ordered a pick 3. The Spanish peppers and goat cheese were amazing. The olives are softer than expected but still delightful. The baguette comes out warm and the fig jam with goat cheese is amazing! Highly recommend checking The Green Room while in Staunton! It's a fun spot and the staff are really kind! read more

Also very LGBT-friendly and not bashful about it, which is a nice, refreshing find for a mountainous small town out by Shenandoah. We saw this shop pop up right when COVID hit and were instantly intrigued. We've ordered a couple of their date night packages and loved them. When they pop up, do yourself a favor and get them! We were visiting Staunton for a few days, and ate in a number of local restaurants. All were good, but the lunch at The Green Room on our last day was by far the best. The ambiance is wine bar, but in a cool space with a great selection of well priced drinks. The service was friendly and attentive, just as you'd hope. The food is absolutely delicious, with a well thought out menu, and very well executed Mediterranean style dishes. Great hummus, really superb salmon toast, and perfectly made sandwiches. The tots with black garlic mayo were fantastic. If you're looking for simple but imaginative and perfectly executed dishes which are great value for your money, you will not be disappointed. A fabulous addition to Beverly Street in Staunton !! The Green Room used to be a salon but it's chic makeover boasts a long bar plus some inside tables (and outside tables if it's Friday night!). The beers are the main event. They have rotating brews on tap (and super tall pours) plus cans and glasses of wine. The service is exceptional, knowledgeable, and helpful. A favorite of our daughter's during her graduate student years as the staff is super friendly and accommodating of groups. The wine is excellent, charcuterie and cheese boards great to share and varied. On the weekends the street is blocked and you can sit outside and enjoy the quaint downtown. Not a fan. First and last time I will be eating here. I went in with a friend who loves the place. First the good - Quality ingredients. Nice people. Now the bad - Took forever to get the order. While the ingredients were good quality, the portions on my sandwich were minimal. I took 1/2 my sandwich home so I could flesh it out with ingredients I had in my fridge. There were no normal/basic choices for food to eat. Everything had weird ingredients that did not exactly compliment each other. Even the soft pretzel appetizer had weird pimento cheese and spicy mustard. Like I said, not my cup of tea. read more

The Green Room is a beautiful restaurant with very nice servers. I had the Duck Tots which were absolutely amazing, without question. I also had the Capresse which was ok... I thought it was very weird that they put onions on top of the Capresse, and instead of tomatoes oranges... To drink I had sparkling flavored Clementine water. I've been to The Green Room in Staunton 15 or so times for the unequalled regional craft beer selection. Besides having a great menu and a beautiful, cozy dining room The Green Room has a warm, attentive staff, who are always friendly and knowledgeable, especially Adrienne. This is one of our favorite places. It was an occasional treat for us to go there when they opened, but once weekend outside dining came to town last July, we became regulars. The food, beer, and wine are always great, and the menu features plenty you can't find anywhere else in town. Service is great, too. They get to know their customers well.
