SOUCH CHICKEN ON THE FRILL!! The guys at the grill were busy. Because we ordered both bourbon chicken and shrimp as well as sushi it took a little bit to get our order as they serve everything at the same time. For what this place is it was actually surprisingly decent for a quick lunch. We ordered some sushi rolls and only had to wait about 5-7 minutes for them to come up for our order. The food itself was good I like the chop-stix roll, spicy tuna roll and egg roll. I wish they had sauce for the egg rolls. The location was dirty and they had boxes just all over the place which was not appealing when we were trying to sit down to eat. read more

Some of the best value food you can find! We picked up food here on a Sunday for lunch and their drive-through line was pretty backed up. That being said, since we called ahead with our order, our food was ready when we got to the front of the line. This was a place that I've been wanting to try since they moved out of the mall, and I'm very happy that they have a stand alone shop and that they added sushi to the menu! Per usual, all others of my family ordered the bourbon chicken, but I wanted to try out their sushi. Also, I knew there would be leftovers of bourbon chicken that I could eat because the portions are huge. The bourbon chicken was as good as always, but I was also pretty impressed with the sushi. I got a tuna roll, and was pleased with the portion size of the tuna in the roll and the quality. We will definitely be back to order more in the future! Especially because this has turned into my parents go-to Sunday lunch spot. read more

Remember going to the Wausau Mall and eating from Zhou's Mongolian BBQ? It seemed to be the only restaurant at the food court that customers ate at. Well, they brought the same food here plus added sushi rolls to the menu. First off, stick with the chicken for protein. I was craving beef that day and ended up with dry pieces of ground beef. Insta-regret. Don't make the same mistake I did. The sushi is average like the pre-made stuff you can get from the grocery store. I can live without it. The star of the show is the bourbon chicken. I've heard people say that it's like all other hibachi chicken they've had at other malls in different cities. True. However Chopstix chars the chicken pieces a little longer so you can taste then smoke and the crispy, not burnt, pieces adds another texture to each bite. The inside is still juicy. I recommend asking for more sauce on top. Although they have seating to encourage eat in at this new location, they still serve everything in a take out box with disposable eating utensils. The bathrooms are clean and so is the establishment. The service is better and the employees actually look happier here. Overall, this is a great cheap eat for the area. read more

Where's the flavor? We ordered the beef and shrimp dinner that came with rice. It had ZERO flavor. I worry that those giving a good review live a life solely on buttered noodles. Which would lead them to believe this place is good. The egg roles were "meh" Only positive is that we were traveling and it was super fast. Another weird thing is that there was two of us that ordered the beef & shrimp, but they only gave us one container. I wasn't sure if they messed the order up, or if that's how they operate. I was in town for business and came here on recommendation from hotel staff for dinner. Place was quite spacious and bright. They are well staffed. I had the BOURBON chicken & shrimp with vegetables entree. At first, the chicken being cut into smaller/thinner pieces was a bit different; I was used to them being cut much bigger/thicker. However, the smaller cuts/pieces retained more flavor and made the chicken more tasty. I would say this was better than the bourbon chicken back at home and I would definitely recommend! read more

Every time I come to Wausau I want my bourbon chicken! I didn't know that this location/store is very similar to the mall! So if you don't want to go inside the mall, just come here! There are more options to choose from here and the prices are a tad bit cheaper! In my opinion, they also give you a lot more meat here too, they definitely weren't stingy about it! Tried the Dragon roll and some "fried rice". The Dragon roll was basically a California roll covered with overcooked shrimp and too much sweet sticky string things. The fried rice was unlike any fried rice I've ever had in that it wasn't fried rice. It tasted like a jasmine rice flavored with chicken stick. Would I recommend the sushi? The bourbon chicken tasted as good as always and the flavors were great. However, service was pretty slow and there seemed to be some communication issues between staff, but that is expected when its only been open 5 days. The only real issue I had was that some of the pieces of chicken were chewy, which was too bad because the rest of the meal tasted great. It's also a ton of food for about 6 bucks. This is a decent Mongolian BBQ restaurant that also services limited Chinese and a sushi menu. The regular entrees are tasty and are a good value for the $. My issue is the sushi. Today's California roll was the worst. The avocado was brown and mushy and the rice is actually drying out. They are not well formed and the quantity is so small that I actually wondered if they forgot the second half. Nope. For good sushi go to Masa Sushi Grill a few blocks straight east. Even Trig's sushi is better. It's a good idea to add to a popular item like sushi to their traditional menu. However, when execution is poor and the price is excessive, then the restaurant would be better off leaving it off the menu. I've ordered this three times to give it a fair chance but there's been no improvement. read more

The new place is clean, and looks great. There are also more menu options, and wider self service options. The one draw back, however, is that the waiting time is longer. Today was my second time going here since opening, and again I am very disappointed. The first time going they were not serving sushi (although it is on their menu) and again today they weren't serving the full sushi menu. I always get the bourbon chicken, and its delicious (just like they serve in the mall) but portion sizes vary a lot from time to time. It also takes a really long time to get your order (15-20min) which seems a little outrageous seeing as how limited their menu is. I also got an order of the chopstiks sushi and it hardly had any flavor. My recommendation is to go to the mall for the traditional bourbon chicken because it will be much faster and to go down the road to Masa for real sushi! One plus, each time I've been there it has been very clean. read more
