I was excited to find a place with hibachi in Wausau, but will not be going back. You do start your hibachi meal with soup and a salad. However, rather than making fried rice on the grill, you are given a cup of steamed white rice. There are no sauces offered for your meal. The meal is also prepared one at a time. I ordered the shrimp and it was made with the appetizer. Every other main meat meal was made after (one at a time). The vegetables were made last... and at that time, my main meal was already over. Unfortunately, it was the worst teppanyaki experience I have had thus far. I will say that the waitress was kind and attentive, but the restaurant itself is outdated as well. read more

The fish quality is at or below what you could find at the grocery store. The whole atmosphere of the restaurant is off-putting. From the exterior paint color to the decor and furniture inside. The food is overpriced for what you receive, let alone the fish tasting musky and fishy. The last time I ate here, I ended up getting sick after my first bite because of it and I threw it all in the trash. Other items on the menu aside from sushi are not much better. The food is as sad and outdated as the decor. If you're going to do the teppanyaki, just stick with the chicken. The filet is fast-food grade, the shrimp won't be deveined and the lobster is frozen, smothered with cheese and tougher than the filet. The sushi was suspect also. read more

This place is FANTASTIC!! Very similar vibe to Royal Tokyo in Marshfield (same owner/teppanyaki chef). To the family who had reviewed negatively....while your review I do trust was accurate I highly recommend giving them another chance my guess is that you dined on one of their fairly new days/weeks and as we all know perfection takes some time...all new things need to hit some bumps to figure out where more fine tuning needs to take place. We were just there the other night and from the looks on the faces of all the other patrons and staff too - things were rocking and everyone was enjoying themselves. :) in addition - I do highly believe that if your negative experience was shared with staff/management they would certainly do their best in some way to try and make a portion if not all of it up to you! Personally - my favorite there is the teppanyaki/hibachi menu and the filet and salmon combo or the ribeye and salmon combo. Tony is a phenomenal chef on so many levels! The service, namely Gracie, Ashley, Ryan, and cute and hardworking Charlotte bent over backwards, to make certain we lacked for nothing. Filling drinks, cleaning up after each dish, friendly, but not hovering. Ryan was particularly impressive, stopping at our table to be sure we were happy with our service . He worked so hard turning tables, and had time to see people had all they wanted. This was especially impressive because it was very busy. Charlie the GM was very kind, and I observed him making sure everything was ran smoothly, with a smile. Highly recommend, would give 10 stars if was an option. Make sure you check the menu and your receipt before you give these people your money! The menu said 24.00 for salmon and sole combo meal but the receipt said 9.00 for sole and 21.00 for salmon. The drink on the menu said 6.00 but the receipt said 7.00. I didn't notice this until the next day. When I called they said the price went up and they didn't change the menu. My party sat at the hibachi table and I ordered sushi because I'm not a fan of the excessive salt and soy sauce of traditional hibachi. I got my sushi WAY before the rest of my party was served their food so I patiently waited for them. I watched the hibachi chef cook each of their entrees, one. at. a. time. There were 8 orders. It took FOREVER for everyone to be served. I've never been to a hibachi that didn't cook all the orders at once. Also, the food was cooked with SO MUCH BUTTER. There is no reason for that much butter. He also smothered all the veggies and meat in honey. So if you're looking for a VERY unhealthy meal, that's your option. Now on to my sushi... it was horrible. The rice was not fresh, the seaweed was chewy, and the entire roll just lacked flavor.
