Dan is a KC bbq master! Everything he makes is freaking good but the burnt ends, ribs and baked beans are my go to! He makes the sauce too... sweet, bold and spicy. Again, all good! There are several gluten-free options so I don't feel like I am missing out on all the good stuff! My 13-year old likes the salad, ribs and fries. I must say that I went to this place with high hopes based on some of the Yelp reviews, I am a little disappointed but I intend to go back and give it another try. I ordered a two meat platter consisting of burnt ends and smoked sausage, with sides of beans a slaw. The slaw was a pretty standard vinegar style slaw fresh and good tasting. I love good beans and these did not disappoint. They had a thick sauce with lots of brisket and great flavor. The smoked sausage was tasty with good smoke flavor. I was wondering to my self if they make their own. The meat was coarse ground and it had a great smoke ring. On the other hand the burnt ends were not good at all. They were dry and with almost no smoke flavor. It was almost as if they had been sitting out and uncovered for to long. read more

Chops catering is excellent! The team was easy to work with, honest and worked very hard during our event. We were so impressed. And of course, the food was great! We had pulled pork and brisket. Our friends, my husband and I went to Chop's for dinner last night. It was absolutely delicious!! We were treated like royalty, we even had a tremendously warm visit with the Co-owner, Sarah. Our server, Noelle, did an amazing job. The turkey wrap, the sausage and yes, the tenderloins were amazing. There is so much variety in their meat selection, the serving sizes are great, great variety of side dishes, and the food is delicious. The place is decorated with all of the awards that Chop's has won while competing on the KCBS circuit. Well, worth the drive to enjoy some delicious food and a great community. We recently had a private party at Chops. It was a wonderful night out! I had the Burnt Ends Platter. It came with two sides and I chose Brisket Baked Beans and Seasoned Fries. I just gobbled the beans right up! They were delish! The scrumptious burnt ends just melted in your mouth!! I had so much left over that it made a great lunch the next day! Our waitress was Lucy. What a gem! Recently opened in Smithville this place does not disappoint. You walk into the smell of meat smoking on the smoker. We had the full slab of ribs which comes with a side and also the pulled pork sandwich. The ribs were moist and done to perfection. The pulled pork sandwich was also wonderful. Full of flavor and moist. Dan, the owner, came out and said hello and checked to see how our food and experience was. The staff was polite and helpful. We will definitely be back soon! read more

Chops is a very solid option for BBQ, north of the river. Their brisket was fall-apart tender and moist. Burnt ends were good as was the pulled pork sandwich, but it needed sauce. I think Chop's cheesy corn is more flavorful than Jack Stacks and their fried okra is really great. Service was friendly and prompt. read more

Delicious food, friendly staff and fun environment. They cover the tables with paper and allow the kids to draw and be creative. My son was able to hang his creation up in the restaurant. Their burnt ends are on par with other KC institutions and I especially love their cole slaw which they add dry rub spices to for an awesome kick. Great BBQ. Easily thus is the best BBQ in the northland. It is a hidden gem in Smithville. And id my belief that they will give any KC BBQ a run for your money. Ihad the burnt ends and they were as burnt ends are supposed to be. Crispy on the outside and tender inside. My wife had the half slab of of ribs and they were fantastic. Our friends got the homemade pork rinds. These were great even if you dont like pork rinds. And make sure you save room for the frided Twinkies. We're relatively new to KC, so we're not BBQ experts by any means, but......this place blows away some of the bigger names in the area. We ordered the fried pickles and corn nuggets as an appetizer...both are good. For our entrees, we ordered the burnt ends platter, brisket nachos and the brisket sandwich. It was all EXCELLENT!!! Definitely a place to add to your BBQ list of places to go. It's not your typical BBQ or upscale restaurant, it's like going on a picnic or being right there at the contest. Your treated like family and it's a family own business. They give back to the community in more ways than most business. Great food, I personally recommend the brisket sandwich and the beans. A gem off the highway. Spend the 20 min and get off the interstate and go here. First, you'll notice the easily access downtown street parking for free. Then, walking into the restaurant a moment later you'll notice the place is super clean and spotless. Family ordered ribs, pulled pork sandwich, and meat nachos. All were outstanding. First time visit to Chops in Smithville was a surprise probably because I'm so picky about my "Q". Let me say I no longer need to leave town to get my fix. Dan has nailed it! I had ribs and sausage combo with beans and slaw. I give the meat a 10. Beans a 6. The slaw a 5. Next time will try other sides. My wife had burnt end sandwich without bread and she rated the ends a 10 and sweet potato fries a 10. A neat little place across the street from the courtyard in Smithville with great service and outstanding product! Good job guys. read more
