What a fun place. I love how its walls are decorated with barbecue trophies and drawings created by the restaurant's diners. Come hungry - the food is served filling portions. It's really good, too. I enjoyed my burnt ends sandwich. The ends were perfectly smoked - tender, full of flavor and enhanced with a small dab of Chops BBQ bold sauce. The onion rings were fried to perfection - piping hot and crunchy.

Wow - fantastic! Cute little place right on historic Main St. Friendly staff, and amazing BBQ! Started out with some spicy fried pickles, then a half rack of tender, fall off the bone ribs. Friends had pulled pork that they said was great, too. Add this place to your must stop list for some good eats outside the city!

Having had their BBQ at a hosted event, I had an idea of what to expect. Last night we had a chance to dine in with out of town family and boy oh boy, we weren't disappointed. The space is on the small side but it's clean and decorated in a very BBQ friendly way. Seating was not a problem. Background music was great and not too loud. Perfect actually. Our server was Delaney and she took care of us start to finish. We found her personable, positive, helpful, attentive and sincerely concerned about our experience start to finish. To be fair, her service was exemplary. I ordered a full rack with a side of cheesy bacon potatoes. The ribs had a nice bark and pretty much fell off the bone. Three sauces are offered - Sweet, Hot and Bold. Of the three my preference was the bold. It had a hint of molasses. The cheesy bacon potato side was delish and larger size-wise than I find offered at other restaurants. The rest of the table included burnt ends, onion rings, a brisket sandwich, corn nuggets and pork rinds to go. I can attest to the quality of the burnt ends and they were some of the very best I've ever had. The corn nuggets were delish as well. I HIGHLY recommend Chop's BBQ even if you're not in close proximity. It's definitely more than worth the drive to Smithville! Trust me

Best pulled pork EVER!! If you love lean, tender, moist, and flavorful pulled pork, this is your go to BBQ place. Chops' own bake beans recipe includes chunks of burnt ends....need I say more? Don't get me started about the burnt ends! Three choices of homemade BBQ sauce, including one that brings the heat. AND much more...... Chops BBQ restaurant is a quaint little place near Smithville Lake with a "down home" friendly staff and great service. They also have outdoor seating. Our compliments to Chops BBQ and Catering pitmaster....no wonder KC is so famous for BBQ.

The brisket itself is amazing, but then you see a brisket burrito on the menu and think, what? Why? And somehow it works. The brisket burrito is loaded with cilantro lime rice, black beans, romaine, red chile fire salsa, jalapeño apple slaw, and ghost pepper jack cheese, and it is ridiculously good. Honestly, whether you get the brisket by itself, in a taco, on a sandwich, or wrapped up in a burrito, it's hard to go wrong. Service is quick and friendly. It's counter-service style, so things move efficiently even when they're busy, and the staff is helpful if you have questions about the menu. The ambiance is exactly what you expect from a good barbecue joint. Casual, no-frills, standard BBQ spot vibes where the focus is clearly on the food rather than trying to create some overly polished dining experience. Scott's has also earned a strong local reputation, including recognition for its barbecue and burritos, and I completely understand why. Five stars. Come for the brisket. Put it on whatever you want. Apparently, you can't mess it up.

Service (A-) : Due to FIFA being in town we expected a crowd so we called ours in and picked it up. Staff were polite and prompt. Decor/Ambiance (C+) : Pretty basic. Lots of corrugated tin and metal chairs. Well lit building with a large alfresco dining area as well. Cleanliness (B+) : Height of lunch so it was a bit crowded, but the staff was doing a good job at keeping up. Value (B-) : We split a two meat entree (turkey and burnt ends) and for our two sides we opted for a double order of beans. It was a fair amount of food but $25 for a lunch plate was skirting the line in my opinion. But again, it is BBQ and we all know the state of the economy these days. Location (B+) : No traffic to fight. East highway access. Parking lot could've been larger as there is no off-site parking available currently. Food: (B+) : As I mentioned, we had burnt ends, turkey, and beans. The turkey, while smoky and flavorful, was too moist. I know, I know. "Too moist!?" Who is this idiot, the Goldilocks of the amateur food review set. But it was so wet that it was on the cusp of being slimy. Again, the flavor was on point so it's likely just a personal preference for texture on my palates part. The beans on the other hand were perfectly cooked and bursting with flavor. I was dubious about pineapple in my bbq beans but now I'm wondering why everyone isn't doing it. The bbq sauce was the perfect amount of sweet and smoky with a subtle hint of apple. The rock star was most definitely the burnt ends. They were an A+. Perfectly marbled choice cut of smokey deliciousness that quite literally melted in my mouth. Fantastic! Summation: I'm not sure why Scott's isn't on everyone's lips as a top contender in the KC BBQ scene, but I'm here to tell you that if you haven't tried it you are doing yourself a disservice. We are looking forward to going back and trying the ribs and of course another helping of those bodacious burnt ends.

I can confidently say that Paradise has been the worst butcher I've ever used. Is the product I received good? No. Did I receive everything I paid for? No. I've been buying through this specific farmer friend for about two years now. He decided to try out Paradise because they are closer to him, as opposed to driving several hours to the butcher we had used before. Well, this is where the nightmare began. He picked up the beef and delivered it to my house on a Saturday morning. He and I unloaded the truck while my wife loaded the freezer. Before he left, he told me to take the receipt and double-check that we weren't missing anything. The receipt ended up in one of the boxes used for delivery, so I didn't check it right away. We didn't look for it until Monday and by that time our farmer had already left for vacation. Once he got back, he sent me a picture of the receipt, and we went through our beef. To our dismay, we discovered that we were missing all 24 steaks and one roast. As soon as I realized this, I let my friend know, and he immediately notified Paradise. That's when the headache began. They told him to have us count again, make a list of everything we are missing, and contact them with the list. My wife called them, as they had asked, and their response was, "Well, we don't have it, so your farmer must have taken it." My wife was pretty shocked at this point because we had done everything they asked, yet their immediate response was to dismiss the situation and basically accuse our farmer of stealing the steaks. I contacted my friend and he called the manager to let them know we were less than impressed with the customer service at this point. They apologized and said they would help resolve the issue. Well, that turned out to be a lie, as they never returned a call to my friend until he threatened to get his lawyer involved. By this point, we had cooked our first batch of ground beef and it was a disappointment. In 11 years of buying beef, I've never received such low-quality hamburger before. Normally the hamburger I've received has been 90/10, maybe 85/15. This junk is 70/30 at best! We cooked 4 lbs of beef and drained over a pound of fat. It was so bad that we had to drain it twice because it wouldn't cook properly-it was literally being boiled in the fat. My other concern is that if they added an extra 15% of fat to the hamburger, shouldn't I have more packages of beef than usual? I can tell you I have no more than I've ever had when buying from other places. Well, they finally called my friend back, and he informed them that not only was I missing meat, but the quality was also sub-par. He told them they needed to figure out how to reimburse me for both the missing items and the poor quality ground beef. The manager said, "give me until Monday and I will call you back." Once again, that turned out to be a lie, as we haven't been able to reach them on the phone again. I was never asking for all my money back, or for them to substitute for the missing product; I just wanted a refund for the items I never received and a portion for the terrible hamburger. My recommendation to others at this point is to look somewhere else for a butcher, as Paradise's customer service is terrible. You might never hear back from them, the meat quality is poor, and you might not even receive your full order! My question is: Where did my missing steaks go, where is the extra hamburger, and for goodness sake, where's your phone?
