My wife has loved LC's since she was a kid--so much so that she still gets nostalgic talking about family dinners here growing up. Tonight, she had a serious hankering for the classic LC's smash burger and fries. And honestly, I get it. There's something special about the cook-to-order magic at LC's--crispy edges, melty cheese, and fresh-off-the-griddle flavor you just don't find at most burger joints. We've been fans for years, and LC's consistently delivers on taste. But I'll admit, there's one thing I've never quite understood: the lack of air conditioning in the seating and waiting area. Today was a scorcher--98 degrees and humid--and the front area felt even hotter, especially with the late afternoon sun beating through the windows. I couldn't tell if the kitchen had AC, but the front definitely didn't. Luckily, my order was ready in about 10 minutes, or I might've melted. We'll keep coming back for the burgers. We enjoyed our take out dinner from LCs the other night. Hadn't been there in awhile & didn't love the higher prices, but food was still great. The xl fries are huge, so we split those. The burger was great, as always. I enjoy their buffalo chicken sandwich, but I do think it should come with a slice of Swiss and side of ranch. I added cheese at home. I got an order to go that included a Tenderloin with Onion Rings and an Italian Steak Sandwich with Tater Tots. The sandwiches were okay, kinda bland but the sides were really good. I grew up eating LC's Burgers and before that when it was The Snack Shack. They have changed a little with each new owner. The store is usually clean and service is friendly. Came here on a Friday afternoon around 1 o'clock and it was busy! I ordered a single patty, cheeseburger and onion rings with a root beer. The burger patty came with grilled onions, ketchup, mustard, and cheese. It was absolutely delicious. Order at the front window and then wait inside for them to call your name. I stood at the counter for a minute while the kid at the cash register looked at his receipts. No "hello" or "can I help you?" I had to start the conversation. And that was with 4 other people standing behind me in the restaurant. Once I placed my order it was done pretty quickly. The I found out why, my hamburger was cooked medium rare. I didn't ask for medium rare but that's what I got. I think the worse part was that they placed a huge slice of raw onion on the bun so I had the taste of onion more than the taste of a hamburger. Probably someone has had a friend or a boyfriend(or girlfriend) or a friend of a boyfriend who has mentioned that LC's burgers are in fact their favorite burgers or all time. You can list off a few namesake institutions that serve a patty of meat in between two buns to the tune of Town Topic, Winsteads , Hi-Boy, Hayes, Harold's, Max's and many more, all who have spent many years perfecting the ideal amount of grease to include on their burgers and the iconic shape of their fries for years and LC's Hamburgers is no exception. From the stall like appearance of the true almost red and white shack of a restaurant to the semi scrawled hard to read menu posted on the wall the experience at LC's was a Hamburger Stand indeed. But, beyond that the burger was elite from the amount of drippy grease that coated my finger tips upon picking up the slightly seeded bun to the ooey gooey cheese that was a savory explosion of flavor. All in all everything about LC's made me want to come back for more. It's been years. LC's is a locally-owned burger joint that sticks out even in a city with plenty of great burger places. WARNING: LC's burgers are heavenly but very, very "juicy." I use quotes there because while I, and other fans, call it juicy, others would call them greasy. If you're a fan of drier, Burger King-like burgers, you may not appreciate LC's.The burger patties are on the slimmer side and not the thicker backyard burger style. In my younger days, a double burger was mandatory and triples were consumed in those "I'm Starving" times. Today I had a mental flashback and got a double bacon cheeseburger and it honestly kicked my butt. At 61-yrs old, it might be single burgers for me from now on. Standard toppings include ketchup, mustard and grilled onions. Mayo, tomato and lettuce are also available. Burgers are made after you order so it will ALWAYS be hot right off the grill. They have about nine different burgers to choose from, but also close to a dozen other types of sandwiches, fried fish and tenderloins other than burgers and I've had most of them. I'm confident you'll find something to your liking. Sides are headed by terrific fries (normal fast-food kind like McDonalds) and onion rings created by the Devil because they're so good. Fried pickles or mushrooms, tater tots along with five or six other choices make it easy to complement your meal. Kids meals include a burger or grilled cheese choice. LC's Hamburgers is a small local burger joint that is conveniently located north KCMO. There are about three tables if you'd like to eat inside. They present a flavorful burger...it's good, the fried mushrooms are some of the best I've ever had and the French fries are average skinny fries. Thankfully, everything is cooked to order so the food was fresh. The biggest problem is the service: 1. The young man who was taking orders didn't even know what kind of fish was used for the fish sandwich. 2. We ordered one burger without ketchup and the other without mustard. Well, guess what? As a life long Northlander, I just have to say, I wanted to give a better rating. But, the dissatisfaction was unreal. Repeated the order to the woman taking orders 4 times..I was enunciating properly, and was clear and concise. Placed the order, and waited for about 25 minutes, so was psyched that that the food was going to be fresh. They were Dead, but you never know if they have To-Go orders, so I'm not going to knock on the wait time. While waiting I noticed that their Permits were expired, as of 2022. That seemed odd that those were up still. I should've known at this point, weird service, long wait, and poor attention to detail and insuring proper permits and licensing is posted. I should've known. But I was hopeful. I ordered a Triple Cheeseburger, a Double Bacon Cheeseburger, and Jalapeño Hush puppies. The double cheeseburger was ordered without Veggie, and all I can say about it was that I ate a few bites and I was done. Bacon was good, but the quality of the meat was gross. The triple Cheeseburger was for Boyfriend, He got the veggies on the burger, which included grilled onions. There were Grilled onions on each Patty....not a few grilled onions either. Loaded to the gills each patty. I wouldn't be surprised if he had an entire onion on his Triple Cheeseburger. I like onions as much as the next guy, but OMG. Overkill. After taking most off of the burger, he remarked that the beef didn't tasted good, that it tasted like it was very poor quality. Tried this on a recommendation by my daughter who lives in the area. It was cold and rainy outside, so we were glad there were a couple of tables inside to eat. Of course during COVID they had 2 tables closed off for spacing but we got a seat due to late afternoon timing. Whoa! I did not expect that! Time and again, you will encounter a place that harks back to the 1950's burger joints, and then the popularity of McDonald's all makes sense - both in flavor and design. McDonald's dropped the torch of quality a long, long time ago, but apparently LC's picked it up shortly thereafter and has kept it going all these years. Their burger tastes real! It tastes they way historians imagine that first burger must have tasted for Ray Crock at the original McD's. It's excellent. The griddle and onions are the secret - can't get that flavor any other way, but by cooking a thousand burgers on the very same griddle, next to onions. It was just perfect, clean, meaty, onion-y excellence - but that nutty sesame bun I think is the cherry on top! Excellent burger! The fries - again - hark back to the flame of what was, a McD's-esque fluff with bite and and crispy salty crunch. And that flavor! Seems old school, possibly from the oils. I could eat an entire bag of those. Finally we got a strawberry shake, with bits of real strawberry throughout. I think I spent $10 for everything, and that shake was thick and genuine. It drank well, but had a spoon - which was a touch I loved; that doesn't happen much anymore. LC's is a perfect little shop of burgers and the like, made for by seemingly hard-working ladies. You can tell when a staff carries on in the wrong kinda ways when no ones around, and you can tell when a staff cares about the work they do - their clean bathroom is evidence alone. Food sustains a trusting populous for the progress of our daily lives - in this, LC's cares, and builds meals that as far as I surmise are clean, wholesome, and real. I'll definitely be back. I recently tried the new fried fish! Guys, soooo good. I know it's known as a burger place, but the fish is now a regular order for me.

Easily one of the best burger places in KC. They don't need to have a fancy place like some other places. They have a nice small stand which has some amazing foods. Definitely get the onion rings, they are so nicely done, and if you have a sweet tooth get a shake for sure. When people come into town I definitely love taking them here. There was a lot of hype about this place and I am happy to say it's true! I was working up north on national cheeseburger day and LC's was the top rated burger in the area. I opted for a bacon cheeseburger and onion rings. The burger was pretty big and perfectly cooked with crispy edges. The bacon added great flavor and the bun complemented the flavors very well. What a great little gem! I decided to check this place out after reading the positive Yelp reviews. Huge burgers, delicious fries, thick shakes which makes their floats also a hit. I've also tried their cheesy tots and chili cheese tots which are great, and they've got a really great deal on some yummy catfish! I'm definitely a fan. The only item I tried that I wasn't a fan of was the cheesesteak. I almost knocked a star off for that alone because I'm a huge cheesesteak fan and a pretty strong believer that if you're going to offer it on the menu, it's gotta be good!
