Mixed feelings. My fiance loved the fried chicken. The biscuit was incredible. I'd go just for that dang biscuit. The tenderloin sandwich was the nastiest goey slimey undercooked thing. A year ago I left a review how I was happy this restaurant opened a location closer to my house. Over this last year I have been to the Texas Tom's at least 6-7 times a month for my family and for my mother. We have always gotten very good service, and never minded the wait time because we knew it was going to be hot and fresh when we got it. Well tonight I used the door dash pick up order, because I knew I didn't want to wait since it was a long day. I got notified that the food was ready for pickup. Went to the restaurant located on N. Oak Trfwy. After arriving and waiting 3 minutes before 1 of the 3 young ladies greeted me and I told her I had placed a Door Dash pickup and gave her my name. She said oh it's ready and went to the back, assuming that she was getting the order. About 3 minutes more passed and she came back telling me that things were hectic tonight. I told her I understood and told her it's fine. She made the shake and gave me the other drink in a drink tray. Three minutes later she came back and apologized and gave me a cup to get a drink while I waited. I sat down for 3 more minutes, then my order was ready, tied in a bag and given to me. Went outside where it was beginning to rain. I drove straight home 7 minutes away. Get inside and gave my husband his food, looked in my box, no catfish filets, just the season fries and nacho cheese. Frustrated I decided to go back to the restaurant. I left my husband to eat his food while it was relatively warm. Before leaving my house I called the restaurant to let them know I didn't get my catfish, and that I would be back up there in about 7 minutes. Giving them time to cook my dinner of 2 catfish fillets. The lady said okay and apologized for the mistake. I went into the restaurant the girl who served me recognized me and I explained what I was there for. And older lady came out and apologized. Then a younger man came out and was rude. He stated he could do nothing for me if I didn't have the whole order there. I asked him if I had brought my husbands 4 piece chicken and seasoned fries meal up there was he going to cook me a fresh meal since it would then be cold. To which he replied NO. So I asked him, "you would give me 2 hot pieces of freshly fried catfish, but I would have to take cold soggy fries and chicken back home? How is that even right?"He kept saying "that's our policy!" I asked him was that fair? And that I had paid over $35.00. And was it worth losing a good customer who spends $200-250 a month if not more over 2 pieces of catfish fillets. Then he stated he had packed the bag himself and it was there. No there were 2 clam shell containers- 1 with 4 chicken and fries, the other with fries and cheese tied. You cannot tie 3 of the containers in 1 bag. But he kept insisting. I told him well you lost a customer, I will never come in again. And I will write a review and tell people I know who came in the Texas Tom's of this treatment. As I was pulling out of the parking lot I was stopped by the older woman who told me she had talked to the guy and apologized stating she will go get the catfish. And for me to please stay and wait. About 5 minutes later she came out and apologized again, giving me a bag saying she had put in 4 pieces of catfish and 2 rolls. I did accept it. But I realize with all the restaurants in the Northland I don't have to subject myself to this treatment. That young man was unprofessional and needs some managerial training. My parents had food businesses when I grew up. And I worked in them for years. I understand customer service. And I am very patient and understanding. But I cannot allow that man's disrespect to go unchallenged. Texas Tom's on N. Oak lost a customer who really did enjoy their food. read more

Ordered a two piece catfish and two chili dogs. Both were pretty disgusting. The catfish was undercooked and the chili dogs were very low quality hot dogs with extremely greasy ground beef and no chili seasonings on the meat stuffed inside a hamburger bun. After hearing so much about Texas Tom's I was really looking forward to trying out their food but this was by far the most disappointing meal I've had in a very long time. After returning for a 2nd visit yesterday; i'm bumping my 3 star review to a solid 4 stars, for value alone. I took advantage of their daily special of 2 sandwiches for $10.99. There are 6 sandwiches to choose from and I went with the Philly Steak and Lamb Gyro. These sandwiches were large with tons of meat. A steal at $5.50 each - easily a $7 to $10 sandwich at most other places. With the variety of sandwiches and other items available; Texas Toms is an excellent option for a fast food lunch. Great food! Very surprised at the taste and amount of food. My favorites are the bone in wings. Great seasoning and bigger than normal wings. Chicken tenders were better than another wing place nearby. The seasoned fries are my favorites. I got the fish dinner and was pleasantly impressed by the size and breading on the fish. So good! I have always been a big fan of Texas Toms, usually visiting the Linwood location. When I discovered the Texas Toms on N. Oak I couldn't wait to try it. It lived up to and surpassed my expectations.
