    Wonton Chicken Soup Noodle
    David S.

Hidden gem in a busy Mira mesa shopping plaza. I would give it a solid 4.5 leaning more towards the 5 on this one. Although it is small, the service was amazing and the food quality and portions were both generous and delicious. The restaurant was very clean, organized and had nice music playing which was not too loud. We ordered the wango mango roll to start and it didn't disappoint. For the mains we ordered the wonton chicken soup with ramen noodles, tonkotsu broth. The broth was extremely flavorful and the chicken was tender. The second dish was the chicken katsu bowl which was also cooked perfectly and rich with flavors. I would highly recommend trying them if you have not been there. We will definitely be back.

I've been to the Convoy location before, so I was curious to see how the Mira Mesa location compared. We stopped by around 7 PM and it wasn't too busy. There was plenty of seating available, although the Convoy location definitely feels larger and has more tables. The menus are pretty similar between the two locations, but there are a few differences. One thing I immediately noticed was that the Calamari Roll, which I usually order in Convoy, wasn't on the menu here. For this visit, we ordered the Cream Cheese Wontons, the Hamachi Roll, and the Godzilla Roll. Service was okay. Nothing bad, but nothing particularly memorable either. I felt a little rushed when we were looking through the menu since there are a lot of options to choose from. Once we ordered, they checked in on us throughout the meal and everything came out in a reasonable amount of time. The Cream Cheese Wontons were exactly what I wanted them to be. Crispy, golden brown, and filled with a good amount of cream cheese. They came with a sweet chili sauce for dipping. The Hamachi Roll was probably my favorite thing we ordered. It comes with yellowtail and had generous pieces both on top and inside the roll. What I appreciated most was how balanced it felt. There wasn't an overwhelming amount of rice and the fish was really allowed to shine. Every bite tasted fresh and the flavors worked really well together. The Godzilla Roll was just okay for me. It's a deep-fried roll with spicy tuna, cream cheese, avocado, crab, and eel sauce. I think this comes down more to personal preference than anything. I'm generally not a huge fan of fried sushi rolls, so it didn't really stand out to me the way the Hamachi Roll did. If you enjoy fried rolls, you'll probably like it more than I did. It was a solid dinner. Nothing completely blew me away, but the food was good, the prices were reasonable, and we spent around $40 for everything we ordered.

It's good for fast and casual Japanese food. Service was really nice. The restaurant looked clean. The food was not bad, but definitely not amazing. Rice was kind of on the mushy side. Ton Katsu was a little dry. The tempura in my bento box was freshly fried, but the bottom pieces were sitting a small pool of oil. Overall enjoyed the meal, but not sure when I'll be back.

Decided to try them again since my first visit was near their opening. The ika katsu curry was really good and was served piping hot. The wontons were served cold just like the Korean fried chicken was served the first time I went. Not sure why the appetizers are coming out cold. Next time,I'll skip the appetizers. Service was friendly.

I got the tempura udon and the daily special crunch roll. It was a great meal for lunch. The udon was perfect and it came with a lot of veggies tempura along with the shrimp. Great service, my server checked on me often. Food came out quick and inside was calm and easily seated with cleanliness.

Chopstix continues to get better! I went shortly after they opened but went again recently and I feel like the food quality only increased. The sushi rolls were rolled a bit tighter, the service was even friendlier (they were doing a good job before too), they checked up on us more, etc. I went back with my friend who also got the chicken katsu curry and I got rolls, and both were great: we love the range of this place!

This place has such an awesome lunch special. They have curry bowls, chicken bowls, beef bulgogi bowls, salmon bowls all for 10$-12$. It looks small, but trust me, they're huge portions. I got the curry bowl. Its one of the better Japanese curry I've had. The inside is very tiny but its well kept and clean. Its decorative and cute. My server was friendly and the food came out fast! I was in and out of the place just like that! My husband and I spent 25m in there and made it just in time for work! I will definitely come again

I got the bulgogi bento and the bulgogi was a bit too tough. Good flavor though. The tempura was a bit too oily for my taste but not bad. The tempura sauce could have a bit more saltiness to it. The California rolls were good. Service was nice but I wish the AC was a bit stronger. Would be curious to see how their katsu is next time.

I've been going to the original Chopstix off Convoy for over 20 years. Love this place! They are reasonably priced and good portions. I am so happy this one opened up in Miramesa. Came to the one in MM for a to go order. Ordered the mixed tempura and 2 rolls (Pink and Samurai). The mixed tempura was very good.. the batter was light and not oily at all. Both of the rolls were a good size and fresh.

Sushi night! We are trying a local spot that is new to us tonight since it was close by and I came along this spot which was very close by and had a variety of menu items that looked great. We ended up going with just sushi this night because that's what I was craving before I noticed that they have a wide variety of menu items as well as sushi. We of course over ordered with 4 different rolls as well as a miso soup and edamame and everything was so good and super fresh! We got a variety of rolls but the red caterpillar roll was my favorite of the ones we got. This will become a go to spot for us for sure and ordering to go was very easy but I hope to come in and dine soon!

Chopstix 2 is an off shoot of the OG location in the Convoy District. They replaced another longtime sushi eatery in this plaza anchored by H Mart. Because of the large number of neighboring businesses and the fact that I visited during peak dinner hours, I had to circle the plaza lot twice before I was able to find an open parking space. The inside of the suite was rather compact, yet it could seat about 40 customers. The dining area was about 3/4 full when I arrived. The multi-page menu booklet featured Japanese comfort food with dry and wet style noodles, rice bowls, and sushi rolls as some of the categories. From the list of special sushi rolls, I began my meal with an Ex-Girlfriend Roll which was rice-less. Imitation crab, avocado, and spicy tuna were the inside ingredients of the roll that was topped with salmon, tuna, yellowtail, and soy mustard sauce. It tasted rather sweet, however it only came as five pieces when I had expected at least six. The other item I selected was the Curry Rice with Chicken Katsu as a protein (+$4). This dish was beef-flavored Japanese curry served with white rice, miso soup, and a small salad. There were four pieces of deep-fried breaded chicken placed next to the rice on the plate. The chicken was reasonably crispy while the brown curry was mildly spicy. It was a hearty entree that would have been even better on a cold evening which it was not. The service and the check-out process were both efficient. For the price and quantity of my food, I gave a four star rating for my dining experience at Chopstix 2 in Mira Mesa.

Welcome to Mira Mesa! The restaurant is located in the H Mart shopping complex between H Mart and In N Out so depending what time of the day you come, could be a busy area to park. Ambiance was casual, servers were bustling but friendly. They have a good selection on their menu with a lot of variety - choose your own Soup, noodles, salad, sushi. We ordered the Salmon Bento Box and Korean Shortribs Bento Box. Delicious and hit the spot. The salmon size was a little on the small side but the Bento box also comes with rice, miso soup, salad and tempura so overall that combination was filling. We also ordered the Awesome roll which consists of shrimp tempura, imitation crab, and avocado topped with salmon, eel sauce and baked and it sure lived to its name! I must have been super hungry as I also kept eyeing our neighbours order which looked so delicious - Big plate of yummy Stir fried noodles, and a big bowl of seafood called Champon. Looked so good so on my list next when I return. :)

Good food and a good value. We have been going to this restaurant since it was in Kearny Mesa.

We started off with the Fried Chicken Wings as an appetizer, and they were so tasty! They were super crunchy on the outside, juicy on the inside, and very filling. The hint of lemon made them even better and paired really well with the dipping sauce. For our main meals, we ordered the Isshido Signature Paitan, Black Mayu Tonkotsu, and Teriyaki Chicken Rice Bowl. Each ramen was super flavorful, and the meat was so soft and tender that it practically melted in your mouth. The black garlic oil added a delicious smoky, garlic flavor that really stood out. We all sampled each other's meals, and everything was delicious! Overall, another great experience. I'll definitely be coming back again and would highly recommend this place for dining with family, friends, or even for a casual date. Definitely worth checking out!

The specials are a great deal as the portion is massive and enough to share between two people comfortably. If you dine in, most entrees also come with miso soup. The curry chicken katsu was nothing special; the curry was a little lacking in flavor, and I would've appreciated a salad of some sort to add variety and freshness. The macaroni salad is good though. The D2 special is great value and variety. It comes with miso soup, tempura, salad, macaroni salad, and teriyaki chicken on a bed of fried rice. The fried rice has a shockingly good wok flavor, and the teriyaki is quite good. Not a dish that will blow your mind, but definitely hits the spot without breaking the bank. We had ordered baked. When I asked them to exchange for baked salmon she refused saying "once it leaves the kitchen, no refunds". I was really startled because the tone and brashness of the refusal was something I have never experienced at any restaurant. I told them I didn't want a refund. I just wanted the baked salmon which I thought we had actually ordered. She still refused but offered to get us a baked salmon plate if we paid for it. Our total came to $99 including tip, which felt expensive for what we received. The food was fine, but not memorable. The spicy tuna on crispy rice was probably the highlight of the meal, but overall the sushi didn't stand out enough to justify the price. I also found the menu both diverse and oddly limited. They offer bento boxes, udon, sushi, and sashimi, but there wasn't an option to order tempura à la carte or even as its own entrée. The only way to get tempura appeared to be by ordering an udon dish, which was disappointing. The biggest letdown was the El Diablo roll. Despite being described as spicy, I didn't find it spicy at all, and the flavors fell flat. The service was pleasant, and there wasn't anything objectively wrong with the experience. It just didn't leave me feeling like it was worth nearly $100 for lunch. I wouldn't return, especially with so many other sushi restaurants in San Diego offering better value and more memorable food.
