    Tom yup noodle soup
    Belle J.

Came here for a quick bite after a long day of exploring Banff National Park. The location is super convenient--right in the heart of downtown Banff and close to everything. You'll need to walk downstairs to get in. It's an order-at-the-counter spot, and they bring the food to your table. They offer a variety of noodle dishes ranging from Thai and Japanese to Malaysian. I ordered the Thai tom yum noodle soup, and my husband got the beef soup. If you're looking for authentic Thai tom yum, this isn't it--it's more like tom yum broth with noodles added, which is different from traditional tom yum noodle soup. That said, it was still good enough for me. My husband thought the beef soup was just okay. The staff was nice and friendly. Overall, it's a solid and convenient stop, but not a must-visit for me.

We were hungry and in a hurry when we saw this basement located Chopstix restaurant in downtown Banff, Canada.. Very friendly, very cozy, and food came out almost immediately since it was a late lunch time. Service was spot on. They have a good choice of food. Not the usual big serving, it was enough for one person and I like that it was not very salty and just enough seasoning/spice. The Ube croquetas was a good surprise, the Ube itself was almost tasteless but combined with the breaded coating made it hard to put down. The takoyaki was pleasantly good, came out immediately after it was cooked. I recommend that as well. A very good place to enjoy warm soup and what looked like a family owned business. Check them out!

Being in Banff, I had a strong craving for some Asian food & so glad I found this spot. A spacious little cafe downstairs with a consistent atmosphere of customers & fresh food. It began to pick up around lunch time and the customer service was top notch. You can see them checking in with patrons, apologize for the wait & take their time to answer anybody's questions. I ordered a slushy to enjoy while waiting for my meal. I ordered the Korean beef rice bowl which came with kimchi, good amount of rice & beef. I wanted soup but was going to bring it back to my hotel. But the soup dishes did smell really good. I also got the chili wontons. The wrapper was thin and melted in my mouth. Overall, pleasantly surprised by quality and flavor for a tourist town.

Food is savory and decent portion with choices ranging from Japanese Vietnamese Thai. Service is good and friendly. Ambiance is casual and modest almost having that cafeteria feel.

When I came across Chopstix, I was looking for something fast, flavorful, and filling, with a reasonable price tag. This hit the spot on all four markers. Seeing the almost impossibly huge variety of Asian noodle dishes had me second guessing whether any of them were going to be good at first, but I am happy to report that most of them were. Food: I tried the tonkotsu ramen, dan dan ramen, and laksa noodle soup, all of which I liked. I also tried the Hong Kong style beef/wonton noodle soup, which unfortunately did not meet expectations (disclaimer: high standards since I lived in HK previously). Noodles were slightly overcooked and the wontons were very small. However, the flavor was still good. Service: you order at the counter, seat yourself, and then the staff bring the food out to you. I went an hour before closing so there was only one other table in the restaurant, and food came out quickly. I left feeling overall satisfied with the food, service, and ambiance of the cafe.

Wife wanted pho and I wanted ramen. Took a gamble since they have zero reviews before me. They didn't even exist on yelp . . . I got the tan tan ramen and wife got the beef noodles which is just beef pho. She said her soup was great and so was mine! We also got some chili dumplings. They were good but over priced. Overall, great experience. Maybe someone else can add the address and phone number. I couldn't find either and they had no to go menus.

Walking banff looking for a quick bite with my wife. Ordered the viet beef all/beef pho noodle, Hk style wonton/beef stew noodle, and a side of chili wonton. Pho was pretty good. Wonton/beef stew noodle soup was also good but felt that noodles were a bit soft for my taste and the amount of noodles were a little less than generous. I should asked for extra noodles. The chili wontons were the least of my favorites. The sauce was more soy sauce than chili oil. Too salty. But overall the best thing about this place was the speed of service, after I ordered, I visited the washroom to wash my hands and by the time I had returned to my table the food was already on its way to the table.

    Vegetarian Tom Yum Noodle Soup

Best Tom Yum noodle soup I have ever had. Asked to have it made vegetarian and it surpassed my expectations. Had the Red Curry with Tofu the other night and it was delicious as well. Great vegetarian-friendly spot! Highly recommend!

By the time we were ready, it took a while to find someone to take our order. The most wanted item is sold out, a fact that they told us upon ordering. Will be appreciated if we know ahead of time so we have more time to consider 'back up item'. There was a table beside us (came after us) who also discussed about ordering same sold-out items, and I was very tempted to tell them that it's sold out. But I figure it's not my place to say because the restaurant must have its own reason for NOT telling this upfront!!?????!! Ordered pork belly skewer , shiitake skewer, shrimp in spicy peanut sauce, and aburi salmon handroll, miso creme brulee. Best items are the shrimp with spicy peanut sauce, and miso creme brulee. Just wow!! For the rest: -If u have eaten shiitake before (at home for example) , u know nothing can go wrong with shiitake as it's already flavorful in its own (safe choice). -Pork belly has good flavor but kinda too fatty (it is a totally different style from the one I usually eat at other places). -Aburi salmon handroll doesnt taste like aburi at all. Just normal handroll basically. Nth special. It was my friend's birthday, we asked if they hv noodle (considering we were farrr from home) and they said it's only available during lunch (which is understandable), but then nth else was done to help celebrate this moment when they hear this fact (simple smile or simple 'happy birthday' could be a gift in its own). Overall, food-wise, we agree on best item and that this place is kinda meh (in terms of food selection and feels like very few 'flavor-worthed' ones).

We ordered to share: Bison carpaccio: 8/10, the large pieces of black salt(?) was overwhelming the bison, but otherwise very unique and worth trying Burrata salad: 100/10, super refreshing and unique palate of thinly ribboned squash covered with tarragon vinaigrette and burrata. Smoked trout doughnut: 8/10, interesting combination of sweet (donut, lemon glaze) and savory (smoked trout, herbed Crème Fraîche, everything bagel seasoning, pickled shallot) Individually: Strip sirloin: I didn't have this one but 10/10 for work of art presentation. Huge piece of steak though. Roasted chicken: 9/10 myself and one other got the chicken. Tender and well seasoned with sweet and spicy harissa honey glaze and chili crisps. It looked like they gave half a whole chicken to her and the other half to me, huge portions. Probably could've been 3 meals. Peyto's ribs: 9/10 had to get it for the touch of maple paprika. Seared ling cod: 9/10 it's the only portion that remotely made sense for a single person and didn't end with leftovers. The dimly lit atmosphere at Brazen is perfect to unwind in after a long day of hiking and exploring. The portions are generous and flavor profile recommendations between appetizers, mains, and drinks well explored. Highly recommend making an advance reservation to try!

We then shared a Waldorf salad, which was refreshing and nice. Then we both selected red wine varietals grown in Canada. I had a Cabernet/Merlot blend which was super great. Would've never guessed it was from Canada. Next, My wife enjoyed a Pinot Noir that was light and complimented our entrée perfectly. Our entrée was the fillet and prawns served over a garlic mashed potato. This is an absolutely extraordinary dish. We shared it and it was just enough for two people. It is a full meal for one person. The filet temperature preparation was perfect. The prawns were extraordinary, and the garlic mashed potato made you curl your toes! Then we closed the evening with the melted chocolate soufflé, which was divine. Here's the one thing that they missed and to me it's an important miss. They use an automated system for taking reservations. And it kept asking for my name to which I said "Chris" and the automated system kept asking me what's your name!? So it asked hey fourth time and in my frustration I got playful and I said "Big Daddy." And it happily received my name and took my reservation. And then asked if there was any special occasion and I said yes my wife and I are celebrating our anniversary. I get that it may not seem normal to say "Big Daddy party for two". So I'll kind of let that pass because neither front door or upstairs Host was willing to ask. But what I don't like that was missed was our anniversary wasn't acknowledged. I was a server for years, and every host gave the server some type of chit or note to let them know if there is a special occasion. We specifically selected a higher end restaurant for anniversary. So somewhere in there, even if you weren't brave enough to say "Big Daddy for two." Someone still should've checked if you were celebrating any special occasion to which we were. Our anniversary. Our server was fabulous. She was super kind helpful and shared about her experience being in Banff. She made us feel great. My overall experience, the Mapleleaf is a great restaurant. But I'm scoring you an A- because you missed our anniversary. and that's why we chose you. So if you're going to use AI, you can't miss special occasions. Chris & Trisha from Long Beach, CA
