I remember going to a Chopt in Raleigh and absolutely loving it! I had the same expectations here but wasn't as impressed. Perhaps it's what I ordered, but of course all chain locations are different. I got a chicken tinga bowl, which was highlighted by the goddess dressing. The rest of it was good but I thought that they were going to toss and chop everything for me, as I had remembered them doing. This was not the case, so that was a let down. Finally, as you can see from the picture, there was an embarrassingly small sliver of avocado added. This wasn't an add-on, but something that came with the bowl. Next time I would just ask for more. That was one of the main reasons I chose to order this particular bowl in the first place. Alas, I still found Chopt to be a reliably decent and healthy option. During finals week I decided to venture out and try a new restaurant a few miles away from campus. A classmate suggested "Chopt" for lunch one day and I wasn't completely sold until I walked in. Think about it, how exciting can a salad be? What is "Chopt"? It's basically a salad bar with infinite options! Initial thoughts: I was extrememly overwhelmed! There are so many options of how you can make your salad.  I had a sneak peek when I downloaded the app but I still changed my mind approximate 4 times before I got to the counter and made a final decision. I really appreciate how they allow you to sample the dressings instead of just sticking you with something. I also liked how they mixed in the dressing and it was evenly distributed throughout. Typically I like my dressing on the side but they mixed my salad in such a way that it wasn't too overpowering. What I ordered: Baja shrimp salad: romaine lettuce, cabbage and cilantro blend, Baja shrimp, carrots, scallions, blue corn tortilla strips, and pickled raddish. I added: tomato,  feta cheese, and the creamy lemon herb dressing. Overall, it's nice to have healthy options so close to school. It limits the excuse of "I'm in nursing school, I don't have time to eat healthily." I wanted to say it was pricey but when I thought about how much money I invest in 1 day on fast food- my daily fast food bill comes out to be much more.  $14 for a salad isn't bad considering they're fresh + locally sourced ingredients and it gave me 2 meals. This was SO good! At first I was disappointed as he put all the ingredients one by one in the bowl. I was thinking I was gonna have to cut it all up and try to mix it...and then he poured it all into a big wooden bowl and put dressing on it. Visited this location just for the experience and it was amazing there are tons of additives, dressings, vegetables, meats & different flavors of everything including the greens. I am lover of salads so I love the concept here. My personal favorite is Salata because you can have as many ingredients as you want. The edge up that Chopt has on Salata is that they chop up the salad making it easier to eat. Also Chopt has specific salads that you buy from the menu. The make your own comes with 4 ingredients. It consists of grilled chicken, feta, pickled red onions, Mama's Lil's spicy peppers, pita chips, and romaine with Greek Yogurt Tzatziki. For ten bucks, I can't complain about much. They didn't over-grill the chicken, the crunch from the pita chips added texture, and no salad can have enough feta. I don't know if I loved the Tzatziki sauce, and wish it had more of a cucumber-y taste, but it was nothing to complain about. A healthier lunch option that is DELICIOUS. I recently moved down the road from this restaurant. Today I finally tried it out. Gourmet chopped salads? Sounds like a win. And I was right. The menu is great but I ended up taking the Mexican caesar wrap and making it my own. Something I love about places like Chipotle. You can make your salad or wrap how you want it. Drown it in dressing if you want. It's all up to you! The staff is friendly and welcoming. The wrap itself tasted fresh and was what I was looking for. The pricing isnt much different than if you were to grab a pre-made salad from the market. And for a freshly made salad it's worth the extra money. The decor is nice and bright which pairs well with the "healthy" type food. Overall definitely worth a try if you like salads. Healthy is not boring; healthy can be fun! I'm actually a fan of good salad places in general; so I appreciate a new place like Chopt. What makes Chopt different is the showmanship. After placing your order/choosing your ingredients, the bowls gets passed to a chopper who uses a rolling knife to chop and mix your ingredients together. It was actually kind of fun and satisfying to watch lol. The regular chop cuts up the ingredients pretty finely; note to self: ask them to dial it back next time. Still, I enjoyed my salad. They serve a pretty large portion of salad and other ingredients for each order; I was actually decently full and extra healthy after mine. There's a vast array of ingredients to choose from (proteins, cheeses, additional vegetables, and more); so there's plenty of ways to get creative. I'm so torn about HOW to review Chopt. The concept and product is good, but the price, delivery, and experience just drives me away. Time to break it on down now, y'all: CONCEPT: Think Chipotle but with salad instead. You stand in line, order at the counter, then they put all your toppings in a bowl, pass it down the line, and add the end, they chop and dress. It's (supposedly) very customizable, but the workers move fast so if you have something to say, you better spew it quickly! A substantial amount of the ingredients are locally sourced, which is ROCKIN! FOOD: They offer a great variety of salad options, a few wrap options, and some "warm" grain bowl options. I've tried the Kabob Cobb Salad, the Classic Cobb Wrap, and a salad of my own devising. They were all pretty tasty, but nothing particularly mind-blowing, and nothing I couldn't have done at home. I found that they tended to "over-top" the salad and wrap filling with dressing and cheese so it was more dairy than greens, however that's on me for not specifying "light on all toppings please." They have water, lemonade, and a house-made fruit drink, along with cans of soda and sparkling water. EXPERIENCE: The atmosphere is chic and cool, but when they're busy, the place is uncomfortably loud. To keep up with the line, the workers fly things from one end of the prep counter to the other, shouting over the roar, making my first trip confusing and frustrating. Subsequent trips have been a little calmer, but I still wanted to take the food and go rather than staying in the echo-y space. PORTION & PRICE: So... here's the catch with Chopt- they're pricey. You're looking at $10 minimum for a quick-service salad. That being said, the portions are huge (two meals at least), BUT salad is not known for its ability to "keep" in the fridge, so I wind up sadly wasting the other $5 with of my meal each time. Until they offer a smaller portion size (and an accompanying smaller price), I just can merit the waste. FINAL THOUGHTS: I get it! And I think it's a good idea in theory, BUT I really think they've got to work out the portion to price ratio. What a perfect addition to Toco Hills! Love living close to Toco Hills with the variety of options to the center and this is another great one. The concept: Salads, Wraps, and Bowls. You can either choose options from their menu or build your own (TIP: It's always cheaper to order from their menu and substitute things if need be). If you get a salad they fill a bowl and at the end they chop it! so fun and interactive. They also have a variety of canned drinks like local Montane sparkling water! (Think Upbeat but cheaper) The space: Fun, fresh, open, and clean. I'm a sucker for a well designed space and Chopt is one of them. I'm obsessed with the wall paper. The food: I ordered the chicken tinga bowl- holy moly! so tasty. I don't eat cheese (at least I shouldn't haha) so they subbed the cheese for cucumbers. I got extra dressing by request as well. The chicken itself was incredibly flavorful. FRESH CAN BE FUN! I loved this bowl and for the price it was SO worth it- portion sizes are so generous. The price: incredibly reasonable for what they do: fresh, all made in house, and seasoned well- my take is it's so worth it (Think Upbeat but cheaper) Parking: Toco Hills has ample parking and outdoor seating right by the location- great spot for kids when there's nice weather because of the newly added splash pad and activity area outside. I enjoy having a healthy food option in Toco Hills. I had been waiting for Chopt to open and finally got a chance to try them out. I went on a Monday afternoon after kickboxing. The space is bright and clean. It is a counter service restaurant but you can order ahead and pick up your food. I had the chicken tinga warm grain bowl. However, they were out of chicken at 130pm which was disappointing. I went with some sort of braised beef instead which was my only other meat option. The portions as larger than expected so it makes it worth the price. I like that they try to source from local farms. Everything looked and tasted really fresh. My friend had a seasonal salad (I think they have 3 that rotate out every 60 days), Nashville hot chicken. He really enjoyed it and ate every last bite. I tasted a piece of the chicken and it was definitely hot! The only thing I did not like was the long wait to order. The line was not long at all but it did take quite some time for us to get to the counter and order. There seemed to be some confusion with the employees about what items were available and who was ordering what. I will be back because I really want to try some of the other creative salads, but I just might order ahead next time and avoid the wait. read more

The restaurant has options for everyone! I went with a creation off of their menu but you can definitely create a meal from scratch (aka pick what you put on your salad). I always make jokes about how I can make salads better than restaurants, but this place, this place is the bomb diggity. Their ingredients are fresh and visibly appealing. I came here for lunch on a Friday with one of my friends and was so impressed! They have such a variety of options to choose from and everything is extremely fresh. You have the option of picking one of their many varieties of menu options or you can build your own. I chose to build my own and settled on chicken, tomatoes, cucumbers, and apples as toppings. They pile it up onto whatever base lettuce option you choose, ring you up, then it goes to the next station where they chop everything up and toss it with dressings. After debating their many many dressing options, I decided on the Lemon Tahini which was delicious! It tasted very close to hummus. The service was very good and the restaurant was pretty busy. My only complaint is that the prices are a bit high. You should be able to choose a few more toppings for that price. Also adding a meat is extra. DO NOT GO HERE!! After a long 3 year journey of recovering from post poisoning SIBO and IBS, spending THOUSANDS on antibiotics, supplements, probiotics, nutritionists and GI doctors, my stomach had finally healed itself, and I was able to eat without severe stomach pain and GI issues. Chopt salad absolutely RUINED all the good progress I have worked so hard to make. After eating at Chopt, I had the worst case of food poisoning I have ever had. I threw up a least fifty time and dry-heaved for an entire night with severe body aches and extreme nausea! I had to miss days of school (which puts a busy college student extremely behind), and literally could not move for around 36 hours. Since recovering, all of my worst symptoms from when I had SIBO and IBS came back ,and I now cannot eat without extreme stomach pain and general discomfort. I am absolutely devastated and will warn everyone away from this place for the rest of my life. In addition, it took around twenty minutes to get my food due to distracted and unmotivated employees who did not know the menu or what they were doing. Lastly, the bathroom is absolutely disgusting, and I could tell it had not been cleaned in a long time. This location is in the Toco Hills shopping plaza, near the kiddie splash fountain thing/Spiller Park Coffee. I came for their soft opening event, where they offered a free entree + drink, with a donation to Atlanta Community Food Bank. The lunch rush line for this event was out the door, but the employees were really welcoming and friendly, handing out complimentary bottled waters and menus so we could figure out what we wanted while we waited in line. The inside space is beautiful and modern; a very inviting place to eat. There is a station with fruit/cucumber infused water right as you enter. It has that "Chipotle-style" assembly line set up, and they make your food in front of you. They offer salads, wraps, and grain bowls. I decided to create my own salad which was challenging, since they have a huge selection of salad ingredients, proteins, bases, and toppings to choose from. Definitely not your average salad bar. After you order and pay, you are assigned a station number, where they will mix and chop your salad for you to your liking, as well as add in dressing if you wish. I got the chimichurri ranch dressing mixed in and its fresh and bright flavors complimented my salad well. They offer bread with the salad. I forgot to snap a pic, but the salad was a great portion. It was complimentary that day, but my build-your-own customized salad that had everything I could possibly want in a salad would have totaled around $11, which is not bad since it lasted 2.5 meals. I brought the leftovers to work later that day and incited food envy in all my co-workers. Love the concept! It's basically a glorified salad bar and they do all of the work for you. They build your salad, mix it, and chop it up right in front of you. They have menu items of course, and then they have the option to build your own salad. I'm not sure how the pricing works for that option. They do have a children's menu, only two items (I saw quesadillas) as well as soups and warm bowls. They also offer specialty lemonades and teas. The restaurant is located in a shopping center. If you're using your map it may be confusing but just pull into the shopping center and follow the pinpoint. You'll see it with no problem. Parking is super easy. There's outdoor seating for nice days. They offer recycling bins which is a personal plus. I ordered the Sante Fe salad and a bowl of Mexican chicken soup. My meal was about $10. The soup was delicious! The salad was good, a bit spicy but good. The proportion is bigger than what meets the eye. I only ate half of the salad and I finished the entire bowl of soup.
