I would not recommend this spot for vegetarians/vegans. PARKING: parking is behind the building. You drive through the narrow entry on the right and downhill to park (complimentary). APPEARANCE: the outside had some nice decorations, but it was too cold that night to appreciate. Theres a heating vent at the door to keep those waiting in line warm. FOOD: Not bad if you're in the area and hungry.

Really 4.5 stars. The 2 best things about this restaurant is the service and the food. Both EXCELLENT. The menu has a wide variety of food for vegetarian, pescatarian and omnivores. Everything was delicious and a huge portion. The ONLY downside is the condition of the actual restaurant. It's very 'hole in the wall' grunge but prices of $15-20 per entree. You have to pass through the kitchen to get to the restroom. There's only tented outdoor seating so not ideal for winter or super hot days. But even that being said, I'd still come back again and again due to the food and friendly service.

Delicious Salmon Omelette and R's Breakfast Special that comes with 1/2 order of French Toast.

R Thomas is always a wonderful brunch. We have never made it to the lunch menu as we stick to our favorites. The Big Breakfast with French Toast and Salmon Omelette always hit the spot! Service is great. Ambience is cool and casual. Dining is an outdoor covered tent setting with fun lights. Heaters for winter weather.

loved r. thomas since forever. i recently visited and had the best meal. from a delicious seafood pasta, the bread and a special green juice, it was all fresh and flavorful. i ordered take out but the service was fine picking it up and i love the ambiance there. the birds chirping outside to all the vibrant decor around the restaurant. this place is one of my atl favorites. i hear they may be changing ownership so i wanted to be sure i caught it before that transformation as things tend to taste different.

    Fish Tacos French Toast

A meal at R Thomas has never let me down. I've been going here since I was a little girl and have tried just about everything on their menu. I always sing their praises to anyone who will listen! Tonight we had the fish tacos - salmon, onion, broccoli, slaw, dolled up with a special sauce and guac. These tacos are seriously pilled to the top! Also had the breakfast quesadilla - which you can get them to roll up into a burrito with a side of their home fries. Seriously the best home fries in town, everytime I try to recreate the recipe at home I just can't nail it! And to top it all off we did a half order of their famous French toast - an absolute must! Our waiter was great, attentive and kind. Their quirky restaurant always has a great and eclectic vibe. If this place ever closes I'll riot in the streets and chain my self to the facade.

I have to start with how in love with the parakeets, so much personality! The ambiance gives you the feeling of going to great grandparents house and they have cool stuff everywhere. We where acknowledged upon entering but it to a little minute to be seated, nothing to complain about because our waiter was by himself. I had a Shrimp and Crab omelet with grits and a Mimosa.... A plus. This spot has been around for years and it looks to still be going strong and it's cool on the weekend there open till 5am.

    Thomas Burger

Good things: The Thomas Burger was delicious and reasonably priced. Devyn was an incredible waitress. Bad: The interior feels like an out of place, rundown diner for children. It's very strange. Bathroom was also super gross. But 5 stars for food and service!

Gotta show love to this Atlanta staple! We stopped by randomly in the middle of the night and had a delicious and filling meal. Lots of vegetarian options FYI. Plus, the staff was friendly. This is such a fun and great alternative to the few other late night eateries out here.

This place is legit and has great flavor. I went with my sister as she is vegan and wanted to let her try something new. The menu is plenty full and has lots of options. The grilled chicken was okay but on the dry side and it looked like they just slapped it on the grill to give it the burnt stripes. The restaurant seems to be clean and just like any other restaurant. My biggest feedback or negative experience was the waiter as it was as if we were bothering him. It may be his demeanor or his personality but it does not give the welcoming vibe. I did notice that a couple of tables left but I am not sure if it was because of his demeanor.

R.'s Breakfast special, eggs, bacon, potatoes, and French Toast, perfect for two light eaters to share!

On a recent visit to ATL, we were recommended to visit this funky joint for breakfast and it couldn't have been more spot-on for both food and atmosphere. The parking is directly behind the restaurant and is shared with the place next door (as far as I could tell). There is an alley between the two that brings you to the parking lot. Before we entered the dining room, we spent at least ten minutes visiting with the collection of tropical birds, who, apparently, are super friendly and like getting head rubs. Cute and lovable, we were already enjoying our experience and hadn't even walked in the door yet! Once we found seating and explored the menu, with the recommendation of the next table: "You HAVE to get the French Toast!", we ordered the R's Breakfast Special which was enough food for two of us. Eggs, bacon, french toast and breakfast potatoes. Everything was delicious. The coffee was super strong. The service was delightful. We would ABSOLUTELY come back the next time we are in the area.

Hi do you have dine in?

    Yes

One thing I really loved was the photo booth outside in the parking garage--it was such a fun touch and made the visit even more memorable. The only downside was the parking. Unless you're lucky enough to find street parking, you'll have to park in the garage, which wasn't my favorite. Other than that, everything was great. The bartender was incredibly kind and patient, especially since I'm very picky about drinks. She helped me choose one that I ended up loving. The atmosphere inside was also really nice, with a fun and welcoming vibe. I'd definitely come back!

SUPER unimpressed with my visit here…read more Based on the decor, especially the photo area in the parking deck and the fake flower arch outside, my first impression was that this was going to be a "TikTok trap": a restaurant focused more on aesthetics than food or service. Unfortunately, that impression ended up being accurate. It took forever for our food to come out. The parties around us were clearly frustrated as well. I watched one table become visibly irritated, while another guest stopped a server to ask if the food being carried out was theirs because they had apparently been waiting over an hour. As the wait dragged on, I started paying closer attention to the decor, which I personally found tacky and gimmicky, especially the fake greenery hanging across the ceiling. The fried green tomatoes and sweet heat wings were really good, and I started to rethink my initial assessment of the restaurant. Everything went downhill from there. My "Rich Boy" sandwich itself was good, but it came with completely unseasoned fries. When I mentioned that I was supposed to have the "Rolex" fries, the server told me the plain fries were what I got. After clarifying with another server, they brought out the actual "Rolex" fries, which appeared to just be fries with a little parmesan and parsley on top. Supposedly they were truffle fries, but there wasn't even a hint of truffle flavor. My partner ordered the veggie sausage, which was overcooked and dry. Their eggs came out over easy instead of over medium, and the "signature grits" were more like cream cheese with a little bit of grits mixed in. We were told more grits would be brought out, but they never came. Another person in my party ordered the Southern seafood pasta, which had literally one piece of spinach in it. When she asked about it, the server responded that there was "more spinach coming." At that point, it became clear that Barney's is selling the illusion of luxury in order to justify premium prices for subpar food and service. It really was a TikTok trap after all. To make matters worse, when the check came, we were charged an additional $1.50 for eggs that already came with the meal. The explanation was that the eggs "came from the shell." Others in my party were also charged extra for liquor on top of the listed menu price for their drinks. Overall, I absolutely did not enjoy my experience here, and I will not be returning. Oh, and that other party that was visibly irritated with the wait had to wait even longer because there was a hair in their food.

The cucumber mint lemonade was AMAZING. Too bad it's $4 for a small glass with no refills. Now for the rest... they were out of fries, which normally come with the burger, but I was charged an extra $3 to substitute Brussels sprouts. The server never mentioned there would be an upcharge. I only found out when I got the bill. When I questioned it, she basically said she couldn't control the system. My issue isn't even the $3. If you're out of the side that comes with the meal, customers shouldn't have to pay extra for a replacement. And I definitely don't appreciate surprise charges on my bill. I had my child with me, so I wasn't about to go back and forth over $3. I paid it and kept it moving. Another surprise was that they don't offer free water. If you want water, you have to buy a bottle. Between paying for parking, paying for bottled water, and no drink refills, the little charges started adding up. I felt "nickled and dimed." The music couldn't decide what vibe it wanted. One minute we could talk normally, and the next minute we were basically at a concert. There was also a leak in the ceiling, and near the restrooms there was a smell that reminded me of old wet towels. On the positive side, the host was amazing. He was super personable and welcoming. They also turn those tables over FAST. By the time we paid, our dishes were gone and the table was already cleaned and ready for the next group. The food is what saved this review. There were just too many little things that took away from what could've easily been a 5-star experience.
