Simply terrible - I used to love this place when it first opened but the last few times that I've ordered (the exact same salad every time), there has been no consistency at all in what I receive. Today was the worst experience. I ordered for pick up and went home to discover a salad that was about a quarter the size of the usual salad with so much dressing on it that it looked like soup and was inedible. I called the store to let them know and was placed on hold for 20 minutes waiting to speak to their manager. Another great Chopt to eat at for my girlfriend and me. This Chopt is located in the Toco Hills Plaza with a ton of competitions with other restaurant in both the healthy and not so healthy side but it stands it's ground very well. My girlfriend and me aren't strangers to the Chopt experience but aren't still getting the hang of pricing. Pricing can get a bit tricky with you order my option: Create Your Order because in my experience I wasn't told that adding protein is an extra $2.99 until I wanted to add another one. Great place to order from the menu salad/bowl options if you don't want to take any risks with confusion about pricing. I was excited to try another salad place near me since I always drive out of the way to Salata. The options and pre built bowls look delicious. I ordered the chicken ginger salad and as they are making it, it looks good until they chop it up so fine that you can barely see the ingredients. Really try to give a place a fair chance before writing a review and have given this location far too many chances, not having ever seen any improvement. Have ordered curbside pickup on multiple occasions, not once have I ever received my food on time. In fact, on every occasion, the food has been more than 20 minutes late. Inaccurate times are one thing. Add in the poor customer service and inaccurate items and you are left with no reason to go here. I can understand if things take longer than usual, but the courteous thing to do would be to communicate that. Upon arriving, we texted the number as instructed, and after 20 minutes, nothing. So we text again. Finally, Chopt calls us and says "Your food is ready" to which we responded and said "Yes we are parked in front" (in a curbside pickup spot, as we should). What did the gentleman say back? "Uhhhhhhhhhhh ok." Went back to my email to confirm I ordered curbside pick up, which I did. Thus, I would not expect to have to go inside to get my items. I would expect they are brought out curbside. Now we have this food that is missing the bread we ordered, along with silverware, and not sure what happened to the Caesar dressing, but it absolutely has no flavor, which is new and makes this entire salad disappointing. The toppings bar was extremely messy with food everywhere!!! The glass hadn't been cleaned and the place had an overall unpleasant look and feel. I watched a young man put on gloves, handle boxes and register and stuck his same gloves into the toppings to make a salad! Disgusting! I stopped by Chopt to pick up a salad and soup earlier today for lunch. I ordered ahead to pick up the meal and arrived at Chopt precisely at the time the website advised it would be ready. The meal wasn't ready though, and I had to awkwardly wait in the pick up area for 10 additional minutes for the soup and salad to be ready. I didn't mind much, understanding that it was lunch time and could be busier than usual, but what really appalled me was when I got home and saw the state of the salad I was given. The avocado on the Santa Fe salad was completely brown- thankfully, it was not mixed in and I could scoop it out, but the fact that they even placed that on the salad was shocking (especially given that this wasn't the cheapest salad either). Found this place because I turned in the wrong lot but it was ok. I had the Mexican Caesar Salad. It wasn't what I expected at all. The dressing was best part. The rest of the salad was just....regular to say the least. The staff was crazy friendly and answered all my questions about the menu. I spent about $12 bucks total. I have been to this location 5+ times. I love the concept and the menu. And, usually the salads are good. Though at least half the times we've gone they have been out of at least one salad ingredient...which is a bit annoying, but not the end of the world. My biggest problem (and the reason for this rating) is the staff. The customer service is awful. You get the feeling noone wants to be there, zero smiles, and not at all friendly. Great salads! Better base salads than rivals like Upbeet (without the smoothie offerings) AND at better prices. My husband and I can each eat a giant salad for about $23, including tax, when we build our own bowls containing all the goods. My go-to is mixed greens, apples, cranberries, shredded white cheese, spicy chicken, and white balsamic dressing. Honestly, it's the bees knees. Great concept. It's kind of like Chipotle with a focus on salads and bowls and with lots of creative options including "destination salads" that give you a taste of the cuisine of different locations. They have a couple soups, lighter salads and feature local ingredients (that they list on a big chalkboard). I've been twice - once to a location in New York by the Staten Island Ferry and then to this one. I was not pleased with my first experience and reviewed as such and Chopt wrote me apologizing and offered me a $10 credit if I downloaded the app. That was nice! The app ended up being a little bit of a pain, though, because I arrived at the location (ravenous as it turned out) and learned that I had to use the app to order, treating it as a pickup order AND it wouldn't let me order a drink, so I had to purchase that separately. There was a bit of a longer wait than if I had been able to order the regular way. I found the customer service at both locations to be a bit underfriendly. I'm not looking for fake, but maybe a smile or some eye contact? I guess it's a balance you have to find. Guess I'm not owed a smile, but just an observation.. My bowl was tasty and unique - I got the warm bowl that represented New Mexico - a good amount of marinated pork cooked perfectly, pickled carrots, some sort of crunchy grain chip, jalapeños, etc. I love spicy and it had a nice little kick that is still on my lips. I don't know if this is normal, but they didn't fill up my bowl all the way (like I said, ravenous, but it was enough food) and they gave me the tiniest sliver of bread. I wondered if it was because my meal was mostly free? The music is Bob Marley esque, which is a little annoying to me, especially with how loud it is and how it clashes with how bright it is in the restaurant. Maybe softer and softer lights? You definitely don't go away feeling bad about what you ate, so that's a plus. There were at least 8 people behind the counter, but the line moved slowly. After ordering - bowls, salads or wraps - you pay and then wait for your salad to be chopped. Even though the first portion was fast (picking ingredients and paying), it took more than 10 min until someone chopped the salads and gave to us. Salata, it's not. Not even close. I like a chopped salad. The best ones are where you can still identify the different flavors withing the salad, even though it has all been chopped up and mixed together. This was not that kind of chopped salad. Actually my salad was mostly tasteless. You are allowed four veggies, one crunch and one cheese. That's what I was told. But that is not how I was charged. Protein is, at least in my case, $2.99 extra. The other proteins, if you can find them in the cramped part of the ingredients line, may be priced differently. All I saw was chicken in three different flavors. The veggie offerings are way more limited than Salata. The veggies that are available are already cut up into small pieces so when they are then further chopped, they lose most of their flavor. I somehow missed that if I ordered the Chopt Blend for my greens, that I would pay an extra $0.79. It isn't worth it. I initially thought that I at least tasted some kale in the blend but mostly it pasted like parsley stems to me. Maybe that is the flavor of finely chopped kale? At any rate, stick with a different choice for your greens. Having been told that I get four veggies, one crunch and one cheese, I was charged an extra $0.79 for the Parmesan Cheese. The veggie offerings are limited so I wound up with celery, pickled red onion, tomatoes and cucumber. The tomatoes were very small, already halved, cherry tomatoes. The Freebird Panko Fried Chicken ($2.99) was tasteless. The something caesar dressing - there are several different kinds - was all but tasteless. And they threw in a thin half slice of something that approximated Italian bread on top as a finishing touch. Maybe they would rather you order one of the salads from the salad menu, rather than the build your own. They have 12 different selections under the "Salads & Bowls" section of the menu. But if they are as stingy with the ingredients on their menu salads as they are with the build your own, why bother? They offer a couple of soups and a bunch of snacks and they offer a lot of different "housemade" salad dressings. (Y'all know from other reviews what I think of "housemade.") But in all seriousness, why bother? You want a really good salad - and I mean a really good salad, go to Salata. Their salads are bigger, offer more ingredients, you don't get nickled-and -dimed to death and you leave full and happy. Chopt is too much concept and not enough sensible execution. You want the experience? Throw some salad stuff in your blender and dump it out into a bowl before it liquefies. Having worked for many years in F&B, I understand cost control but there is cost control and there is cost control. The best way I can think to help this chain control its costs is to not have it cost anything for them to serve me. read more

Can salad really taste this good? I admit I was skeptic before passing by Chopt for the first time. I mean, how good can salad be? But this chain has several locations all over the East Coast so it was promising. I visited with a friend for lunch on a Sunday. We managed to get in at the right time and didn't wait much but for the entire hour we sat there the line was back to the door. I decided to go for their Mexican Caesar salad with the optional grilled chicken, along with the base romaine, cotija cheese, jalapenos, and tortilla chips. I won't say my life is changed, but it was a fantastic salad. I think what makes it so delicious is that it's "chopt" - the bits of lettuce and chicken and other veggies all fit perfectly within a forkful so you get every salad flavor together, just like how it was meant to be. Their Mexican Caesar dressing is flavorful but not greasy - just good enough to give everything a flavor other than "green" and still feel guilt-free. The only downside to this place, if I have to pick one, are the prices because some salads can cost up to $12, which is a little much for greens. Overall, this seems like a delicious, healthy, and modern addition to the Toco Hills plaza which is quickly becoming one of my favorite food spots. read more
