Went on Friday the thirteenth and, like anyone in the tattoo industry would know, it was insanely busy. We got there after work around 9 after visiting another shop that just was too busy we called chosen and the girl that answered convinced us to come in. We went straight there and the only down side was Google maps took us to their old location. We called again and were given the proper address and showed up. It was a long wait, and a lot of customers were just assholes. Forgetting these artists were working like slaves all day for pretty much just publicity. The shop had an awesome atmosphere despite this, and the girl at the front desk (an unpaid volunteer) and all of the artists were super polite. The place was beautifully designed and clean as a whistle. We got into the chair around 1 am and my wife and I were paired with Tim. His art on the wall was awesome, and he was super polite despite the day he had had. We built a quick report, and before we knew it he was working on my wife's little cactus tattoo. We both wear American traditional art and he made the peice fit right in with a perfect color palette, thick clean lines and perfect shading, all while working fast and keeping a good conversation. I sat next and got an anatomical heart in my hand, and I was equally as impressed. And I have dark skin, but he didn't hesitate with colors and put an amazing tiny peice on us. Afterwards my only regret is I couldn't tip more. Will definitely return for more work. Nice way to start our new lives in Arizona!! read more

I went to the Phoenix tattoo convention today. I was not sure if was going to get a tattoo, but when I saw Mat ValDeez work and met him and his family I knew I was ready for a tattoo. I was greeted by his wife and looked at his work. I fell in love with a black and gray Gothic type cross. It also had highlights of white. So then I met Mat. In order to get a tattoo you have to make a connection with your artist. Mat was wonderful. He had that connection. He also had his family there. That meant a lot to me. He prepared my cross which I wanted. When he showed it to me, it was better than the original. I just loved it!!!! His work is very precise. He also takes his time and is a perfectionist. Tattoo pain to me is annoying. This is my second tattoo. My first one was at age 25, so I waited 25 years to get my second. Do the math. Anyway after getting this one I decided that I am going to go back to Mat and make it into a rosary. I can't wait. Mat is a talented,patient, wonderful, caring, I could go on, tattoo artist. I got a large thigh piece a few years ago from Eric, the owner. It was a memorial piece for a guy I had dated that passed away. Eric was his mentor so I wanted Eric to do it specifically. The font he chose was beautiful and the color he added has stayed extremely vivid. I have gone in only once since, and he went back over the whole thing for free, although only a minuscule amount needed to be touched up. I get complimented on it a lot. I even have girls squatting down and grabbing my bare leg in line for bathrooms to look at it :) Eric is awesome at engaging in conversation while tattooing, a feat many people cannot do. He has a great sense of humor and takes serious pride in not only his own work, but all the other artists as well. He is very involved in every piece that gets tattooed on everyone in his shop, and makes sure all pieces are perfect before being tattooed. The atmosphere in the shop is awesome. The decor itself draws you in. I have yet to be in this new shop, but I have no doubt it is just as awesome with all the effort that was put in. Anyone you pick here is sure to satisfy. read more

The first thing out of my mouth upon entering the shop was about how clean, crisp and sanitized it smelt! To me, a clean smelling shop is the first thing you should pay attention to! I was greeted within seconds of walking in and appreciated my immediate acknowledgement. This wasn't my first time working with Eric but it was my first time at the new space and I just want to give praise to the hard work and well rounded establishment that is being run over there. I recommend anyone I know to go there. The one thing that sticks out most to me is the excitement and interest the other artists took into the work Eric was putting in. These guys don't need to like my tattoo choices or even care for the story behind them, but each guy working that night made it a point to come by and comment and really take interest in the tattoos and story behind them. I felt special, and that for me is worthy of a five star review. Not to mention the fact that my tattoos are absolutely perfect. Chosen art is an amazing tattoo shop with awesome staff! All the artists are friendly and helpful. I've been going there a long time and am never disappointed with any of the tattoos. I have 11 as of today, 8 from chosen art , and they all look wonderful! The shop is always clean, and sanitary. I went in for the Friday the 13th flash tattoo thing today, the artists that did my tattoos were friendly, made sure the tattoos were in the right place and colored them as I requested, even though it wasn't how it was colored on the flash sheet, and didn't act or seem upset for me asking for a different color. They made sure I was ok, asking if I needed a break or anything, since both spots I got tattooed were on bone and so not the most comfortable , but they were super awesome. Chosen art is the only tattoo shop I'll go to, and if you're looking for a great place for a tattoo, look no further, you've found it! Now go get inked! read more

The universe led me to this shop. Literally. I have been looking for a shop and saw two different cars on the same day with their logo. Went to check it out and felt comfortable the moment I walked in the door. It is a very clean shop and everybody was very nice. Matt was the artist I spoke with. I brought some samples with me and he was very open to my ideas. He drew up my design and I went back to see it today. I loved it. Matt was great the whole time. He made sure I was comfortable and we got started. He was very professional and personable. I can't wait to see the finished tattoo. The outline is awesome.....color next time......and then..... An amazing place to have true tattoo artwork done! I could not have found a better studio to get my first tattoo. All of the artists are incredibly professional and see their work for what it is: Fine Art. I have been getting tattooed by Eric at chosen art for a few years. I have 5 tattoos from him. I have been working on a sleeve and it's almost completed. I get compliments daily on my work from him. His shop always has a great friendly atmosphere and fun banter with clients and artist. It is the cleanest shop I have seen and feels very relaxed going in which helps when you are being tattooed for hours straight. I recommend everyone who comments on my work to come here and have brought in 2 other clients who also love the work he did for them. Best tattoo shop with the best tattoo artists! My boyfriend and I are long time customers here and have had lots of work done with this company. Tim, Matt, and Eric are all masters at what they do, I always recommend to my friends and family to them. If you want high quality art done by cool guys who know how to have fun and make you laugh while inflicting pain on you then this is the place! Tim even did a cover up for a terrible tat I had on my back, within 2 hours it was fixed when the previous artist took over 8 hours of my time to give me a crappy tattoo ugh I WILL NEVER GO ANYWHERE ELSE BUT CHOSEN ART TATTOO. My son and I chose this place based on our initial walk-in. Our questions were answered, they took the time to show us fonts, and the place was CLEAN! Months later we returned for his first tattoo. Mat was amazing! He was patient with us and my son's entourage. He took his time and really showed gentleness and excellence in all he did, from shaving my son's arm to cleaning and wrapping it when he was finished.
