Roses are red, Violets are blue, Tattoos are cool So, I got two! This is the only place where I have two pieces from- both from the owner of Inkenstein, jason. One was about 4-5 years ago and the second was this past summer, which I also got my first touched up at that time. Since my first one, he has moved into a larger studio in downtown Glendale. Clean and spacious with a comfortable waiting area. I had ease in scheduling, usually email or text and have been happy with both of my pieces! I sent in my inspo or ideas and he created both pieces on the spot. Overall, definitely recommend. I haven't worked with any other of his artists, but would definitely go back or send friends and/or family there!

Visiting Phoenix for 6 days and the last 3 days I decided I wanted to get a portrait tattoo of my dog that passed away in 2021. I knew it was a long shot to try and get a talented artist to fit me in with such little time and notice. Jason responded to my request almost immediately and consulted with me via text. He was able to fit me in at 10am the next morning. His attention to detail and precise work is absolutely amazing - I couldn't be more happier with his work and professionalism. Overall an exceptionally talented artist!

Jason is a tattoo wizard; he is a no nonsense kind of business man/artist who does nothing but quality work. My fiancé and I had been thinking about getting new ink for a long time and have searched high and low for which artist we wanted to go with. We saw Jason's bumper sticker and decided to look him up on his website...woah baby! His work blew us away!!! He is tremendously talented and has quite an impressive portfolio. We knew right away he was our guy. We made an appointment and when the day came we headed to the shop. The shop itself is a small bad ass little place in Glendale; it is immaculately clean and makes you feel comfortable about what you're about to do right away . Due to covid Jason only lets one person in at a time with a mask on and temp check (which is greatly appreciated)...so...while my fiancé got his Phoenix tattoo I roamed the antique shops and hung out until it was my turn. Jason finished the Phoenix tat and it was better than we had even envisioned it. Flawless lines, shading, and capturing of the concept and character. Mine were much easier (and less painful); I got my parents writing of "love" on each of my wrists. I was nervous that it might not come out exactly like their penmanship, but once again Jason did not disappoint! Each version of "love" is the perfect replica of their handwriting and is so meaningful to me Not only is Inkenstein Tattoo a professional, clean, quality shop, but the prices are reasonable as well. I cannot recommend Jason and Inkenstein enough; if you're in the market for some ink don't go to anyone else...this is a lifelong decision after all! My fiancé and I are already planning our next visit
First and foremost I would like to say that this was my first tattoo, Garrett was my tattoo artist and I was blown away at the quality of the tattoo, it came out exactly as I envisioned, I highly recommend getting your tattoo here.
Tori did an awesome job! I originally came in with flat black image of the Mythosaur skull. Basically an image you could get off of Google images. She had the idea to make it more realistic looking, with the red streaks free handed. It turned out better than I expected. Luckily Tori took PayPal. I will definitely be back!

This studio is extremely clean and well run. I've had two tattoos done by Chris Bailey who is a phenomenal artist. His use of color and shading is impressive. Several friends and coworkers have all had work done by Chris, and all of them have been happy with his work and at least a few returned for more work by Chris. Chris is very professional and nice. He will respond and talk to you if you talk to him, but often he seems to be concentrating on the work, which given that it's permanent seems preferable to me versus small talk. I would not get a tattoo anywhere else. I have seen Jason's work also, and I would recommend him as well though I have only worked with Chris. This shop is clean and high quality. Five star work, service, quality and cleanliness.

I had an appointment for a tattoo, and sent in a deposit a few weeks before to secure a date. Jason sent me a sketch and it was great. When I arrived, the tattoo was ready to go. I had a wonderful experience at Inkenstein Tattoo. I had plans of travel to the Phoenix area and had (somewhat) spontaneously decided I wanted to get a tattoo. About 3 weeks prior to traveling, I started researching tattoo shops and was drawn to Inkenstein with its near perfect reviews. I sent the shop a message and within minutes, Jason replied. I sent him a description of what I wanted, with a few photos for reference. We went back and forth, discussing the design and shortly after I set my appointment and sent him a down payment via PayPal. Jason sent me his design the evening before my appointment. I asked for a few small changes, completely because it was just my personal preference, his design was great from the beginning. Jason was very receptive and quickly sent me his reworks, as soon as he made the slight modifications. Today I went to the shop for my appointment, which was impeccably clean and eclectic (the exterior is painted bright green). Jason showed me the design, I filled out paperwork, he prepped his area, then he placed the design in the perfect spot near my shoulder blade on the first try. It couldn't have taken 40 minutes for my tattoo. It barely hurt at all, and he worked quickly and efficiently. I can definitely see myself returning to Inkenstein to visit Jason for another tattoo on my next trip to the area! read more

Intricate details and awesome custom work. Jason did an excellent job. Loved the quaint shop from the outside and how personable the parlor and the artists. Overall this has been the best parlor and experience I've had. Jason made me feel like my tattoo was his only priority. My brother has been going to Jason at Inkenstein for a long time. He is super OCD about perfection and has both arms and his back covered in tattoos. After finding this shop he has never gone anywhere else for a tattoo. His wife also only goes to Jason and my brother has been trying to get me to go check it out for a while now. Finally my best friend was looking to get a tattoo covered up that had a pretty thick black outline. She had been to 4 or 5 shops to get opinions and prices. Most of the artists she talked to told her it couldnt be covered up, or quoted 500-600 dollar prices saying that she would have to go double the size to have any real coverage. That's when I thought of Jason. He really talked to her, traced her tattoo and respected her size restrictions. He was very honest about cover ups and what he would need to do to give the best coverage. He also charged by the hour, 100 dollars an hour, and quoted about 2 to 3 hours of work. My friend, after months of looking finally decided to go with Jason, and even though he was having back surgery he got her in as quickly as he could. He worked fast and in just 2 hours my friend had an amazing tattoo cover up of a beautiful rose with hanging pearls! I couldn't believe the line work and how great it healed. There was almost no scabbing and the color didn't fade at all! After a month my friend went in to have Jason check everything out, and he did a little more shading to cover even better, free of charge. Now unless you knew that ugly skull tattoo was even there, you wouldn't be able to tell. My friend is beyond happy and has vowed to go no where else from now on! With 3 people in my life die hard clients, and after meeting Jason and seeing his work first hand, he also has a client in me. I have 5 tattoos, none of which are done well. I want tattoos that I love and I know Jason can give me that. If only I listened to my brother earlier! read more

I can't say enough great things about Jason Ballard at Inkenstein. He is a good man who cares about his clients and the art he is creating. He had a very light touch- most of the time I couldn't even feel the needle. The shop is beautifully decorated and sparkling clean. I am severely immune suppressed and had no hesitation getting my tattoo there. Even the bathroom was spotless! My tattoo is gorgeous. I've had it a week and every time I go out, I get compliments on it. I can't wait to go back and get another from him. Why are you even still reading this review? I got my first Tattoo with Jonny Elliot, she was amazing, professional and very friendly. Just by talking to her for a few minutes, she constructed an amazing tattoo that I'm in love with! Their rate is $120 an hour, it's not bad plus with the quality of the tattoos, it's so worth it! I will for sure recommend my friends to this tattoo shop and I will be coming back for more in the future! read more

As we speak I am at the shop. I just got my third tattoo (first here) and my best friend is getting her fifth (also first here). We called earlier in the week and spoke to Jesse and make appointments for today. We came in yesterday with pictures and questions and he was so great in answering not only our question, but also offering his artistic input on what we were looking for. Today has gone AMAZINGLY!!! Jesse and Jason are really committed to excellence and also a joy to be around. My friend and I are a bit of a personality handful but we all had a great time! I recommend them highly if you are looking for quality, personality, and just overall a passion for their art. I can say I will definitely be back! read more

I had the best first time tattoo experience at Inkenstein Tattoo Company. I contacted Jason Ballard to let him know I was ready. Met with him to discuss design and scheduled my appointment. I'm kind of a control freak and perfectionist but Jason nailed it! He incorporated the things that were important to me and created an awesome design. I receive so many compliments about the detail. From beginning to end, I was completely satisfied. Inkenstein is located in a quaint historic house-turned-shop in downtown Glendale. It is very clean and the atmosphere is laid back. Jason is professional and personable. He made me feel comfortable throughout the entire process. I highly recommended Jason at ITC to first timers or those looking for more art. read more

Me and my daughter went in tonight and Johnny did our tattoos. She was super nice and did a great job. The place was not only super cute inside and out but was extremely clean which is important for a tattoo shop. I love out of state and had no idea where to go so I turned to yelp and find this spot. I apologize in advance for any disrespect. Do your artists know how to draw and be open-minded? I am not an artist and can't draw anything more than a stick figure. So I give alot of artist freedom to bring my idea to life and be somewhat unique.
Yes! We are all capable artist as everyone should be in this industry.
Do i still have to wear a mask? Also are you allowing another person in the shop during the appointment?
Mask are not required. Friends can come with but only one at a time in the work area. We do have a large lobby if there are multiple people with you.
Do you guys do inner lip tattoos?
We have done a few yes. They don't always stay great so these are a bit of a crap shoot.
Are you still tattooing 16-17 year old with parental consent, or is that cancelled due to the pandemic?
Although we can legally we only tattoo over the age of 18 here.
Can you guys do a cover up tattoo?
We do tattoo cover ups all the time. Of course if it's possible depends on what you already have. Clearly the older and more faded that easier the cover up. Check out our portfolios on the website. Whichever artist you would like to work with shoot…
Do you guys do walk-in's?
We will do a walk in just as long as an artist is available. This is not always the case so calling ahead is always a good idea.
Who's the best at doing rib tattoos?
No one specifically for doing ribs. Better to look for someone good at a particular style or subject rather than body part. You can see our portfolios at www.inkensteintattoo.com
Is there anyways to send you a pic of the art work and where the placement is then get a rough estimate of cost?
They charge by the hour. So depends how long it takes them. . I did same thing and they very helpful. Mine was small so I paid min (I contacted them sent a photo)
Do you guys do piercings there also?
No sorry we don't, tattoos only. We are listed as Tattoo/piercing on everything but that is the only category they will give a tattoo shop so it causes confusion.
Hello. I have a couple of questions. Do you tattoo minors with parental consent (16yo)? How early should I make my appointment if it's a matching tattoo for 3 people? Is there anyway I can't send a picture for a price estimate?

Been wanting to do a cover up with a colorful marvel character scene, half sleeve (able to continue with full sleeve if I wanted). It's a big piece to cover on upper arm. Any estimate pricing for cover ups?
