Bummed to leave this but Sonia Lopez was great when I got my piercing but non existent after the fact. I kept telling her how irritated my piercing was and she never told me how to handle it or even followed up. I simply asked for what type of jewelry she used so I could go to somebody else and she didn't respond. To me aftercare is MORE important than the service. Disappointing. Would not recommend. First, this studio is professional. For those of you that have had ink done on the west side within the last 20 years, there is NO douchebaggery going on here. The climate is SUPER welcoming, friendly, and professional. It feels more like an art studio than a chop shop. Just my personal opinion. Though I have only used one artist here, ALL of them are obviously talented and professional artists. Again- it's the whole vibe that the shop gives off. Super considerate and customer focused. Especially the manager ladies- shout out to them for leading such an atmosphere. Second, my artist, Hunter Curtis @inkbyhunter, look him up on instagram. He's amazing. I have over 30 hours of work done all over- foot to neck and in between by three different artists over the last 20 years. I have NEVER recommended an artist before. How does he take what is in my brain, and put it on paper?!? He's phenomenal; very considerate, great listener, great artist, and also caring! He cares about his work and clearly takes pride in it. Also, he's got a great personality and I don't mind nerding out with him on various topics throughout my sessions. The tattoos I've had done by Hunter are so clear and detailed. Such a great experience with fifth finger! First off I am a tattoo newbie Being my first one, I spent extensive time researching and reading reviews which lead me to FFS. I messaged Courtney who was prompt and helpful and we set up a time to go in and talk over the whole process as I was very nervous :) The little meeting was awesome. Fast and informative and she had great suggestions on the tattoo I wanted and how to position it as well as size and spacing. Things I would never know. Once I was ready, I messaged her again and got me right in the next day! Jose did my tattoo. He was awesome and was super patient w me! The initial position and size wasn't exactly what I wanted and he was quick to jump in and suggest trying it differently until I felt it was perfect. He had such a sweet attitude and totally put my mind at ease, walking me through teach step. And he did such a beautiful job!! The writing I got was in Hebrew and Jose was meticulous with the letters and kept referring back to the original, ensuring it super precise and accurate. I LOVE it. Cannot recommend him more highly!! In the after care, I actually had MORE questions than I did going into it! I had lots of little "issues" and confusion and got immediate and super helpful tips and direction from Courtney for several days after. Every time I was unsure, she was available to give me instruction. I definitely see how this can become addicting, ESP If the work done is this beautiful and the experience is so smooth! This place is amazing! I started by doing a walk-in to get quoted on getting my chest piece fixed that I got back in 2011. I met Courtney when I first dropped in and she set everything up. She made sure everything was good to go and introduced me to Xae. Xae put a lot of work in to fix my chest piece. He told me he would bring it back to life and he created a masterpiece! He held some great conversations with my wife and sister who were watching everything in action. All the artists in the studio are friendly and cool. The entire process was very smooth including getting me an appointment within 2 days. We went over 4 hours but Courtney give me a flat rate of 4 hours and honored the 10% off from the yelp check-in. I had a tattoo done by Tony 3 years ago. I showed him a picture of what I wanted and he said he wouldn't copy anyone else's work and would add his own touches. He showed his revisions to me and I ok'd them. When I went in to get it done he seemed three sheets to the wind, I should've left! He finished my tattoo and it didn't look like what I wanted or discussed. The proportions are all off and now I'm stuck with a tattoo I hate and no-one will try to fix.... spent so much money and people can't even tell what it is and it's a horse... My first visit to 5FS was to accompany a friend to get her first tattoo, I wasn't really planning on getting any myself. But, Daniel Sanchez was available and he said he would tattoo me. I told him what I wanted to get and WHERE I wanted to get it. He immediately agreed to do it and started setting up. He did make mention that finger tattoos were difficult to do, had a tendency to need touch ups and that's why he was charging me $160. This price included touch ups when I needed them. The process went off without a hitch, surprisingly comfortable for finger tattoos. Two weeks goes by and it becomes apparent to me that I am going to need a touch up because the tattos Daniel did began to fade. So, I contact Daniel via Instagram messenger. He gets back to me and says he's ready to touch up anytime. I tell him I only have Saturdays available. He says when I'm ready, schedule as soon as possible because Saturday's book fast. I wait a week to make sure I have the following Saturday available and message to ask if I can get in that following Saturday. Daniel then says to me, he needs more notice and books those days a month out. This would've been good to know when I first contacted him with my needs and availability. So, I then rearrange my availability again and a week later I send him a photo of what the tattoos look like and he says, "I'll get you in as soon as possible" but, I never heard back from him the rest of the day and part of the next until I messaged him requested a specific day, 4 weeks out. He finally agrees to it. My second visit, I was greeted at the desk by the "receptionist" and she notified Daniel that I was there. When he first approached me, I immediately got an attitude of him being inconvenienced for a silly touch up. He hardly spoke to me the entire time, like a spoiled teenager when you tell them to do a chore they hate. Towards the end, he decides to tell me that he doesn't usually do finger tattoos for reasons of them needing frequent touch ups, he usually turns people down that want them on that part of the hand. If he had mentioned this to me, I would've been open to other location suggestions, I'm pretty easy going. LET ME MENTION, I realize that this area of the hand is prone to fading and that's fine, if I didn't expect that, I wouldn't have asked for that area. But, I think the fading was a little extreme in this case. Then, he tells me that my next touch up will cost $60. Yesterday's touch up seemed to be better than the first tattoo and hopefully it won't fade to something that looks like a prison tattoo or something like an amateur did with a homemade gun that's going to fade in 2 more weeks. But, I won't be going back to that studio, regardless. The last thing I want to mention is the lack of interaction from the staff. It was almost like I was a bad representation of their studio. As I was sitting down in the chair, a group of artists came in from the back of the building and the strong odor of marijuana hit my nose like a linebacker... I'm sure they had their medical marijuana cards handy! Good things about the studio: clean and comfortable. read more

I have been going to Ivan for about 5 years now and when he moved studios course I followed him! It's an extra 40 minutes for me but for his work it's totally worth it! His tattoos are extremely easy to heal and I will go to him for all my work, he is so talented and he completely kills it with anything I bring him! I've gotten 2 tattoos so far from here, and it's been amazing every time. Hunter is an incredible artist and this tattoo he gave me over a month ago is perfect. My grandpa died this past thanksgiving and Hunter captured this sweet pea flower I wanted in memory of him beautifully. went here awhile back and i just wanted to come back and talk abt the experience i had. my first professional tattoo was a dedication piece for my mom. i found my artist on instagram and i loved his work that was shown. scheduling was a bit weird and their was cancellations on his part which i didn't have a problem with! i go to my appt and the receptionist lady was very sweet! liked her a lot. but the vibe of the place was just off. it felt like no one wanted to be there. my artist wasn't prepared and it took awhile to get started which kinda annoyed me but i understood! but our entire interaction was just very awkward. dude barely said a word for abt 6 hours. we sit in silence and after we were done i was satisfied, not quite ecstatic though. he took a very long time just for the work to come out not the way i thought it would. the cherub's face looks a little wonky, same with the feet. and the shading was just off everywhere. the thing that got me the most was how much i paid for the tattoo. i paid close to a thousand dollars which in a way is my fault, but it was my first tattoo experience and i do feel as though that was taken advantage of. . i went to a more reputable artist who said they would've done the same tattoo for about $500 less and in about 3 hours less. idk. it's been months and looking back i feel very stupid and vulnerable! since my visit here i've been very picky about every artist/shop i go to. read more
