    Small animal enclosure

I mentioned to an employee that I was concerned about how much feces was in this animals enclosure. She then told me how it's cleaned every night. I then questioned her because it is very obvious it's not being cleaned daily. She then said it's cleaned once weekly. I think she meant underneath the cage (the floor) was swept every night... After I firmly told her that it's not acceptable and needs to be cleaned daily, she walked away and said she needed to go to the register. I'm extremely disappointed in the lack of care for some of the small animals at this location. It's absolutely unacceptable and cruel to house multiple rodents in an enclosure and make them sit in their own accumulated feces for days on end. The other cages were not properly up-kept either, but it was far less severe than this cage in particular. I am genuinely shocked that they aren't embarrassed by their negligence and tried to defend that the pets environment was acceptable. As a pet store it is THEIR JOB to set expectations regarding a pets care. Reflecting poor care of animals to new inexperienced owners does not set anyone (or the animal) up for success. The lack knowledge or care by employees is reflected by their low standard of care.

We've been taking our pup to get a bath every Wednesday for 3 months now. It's become "our thing" with him. He hates water but it's manageable to give him a proper bath here. In the bath room they have a shelf of all your necessary grooming/shower tools. A tray of 5-6 different grooming combs, ear plugs for your pup, treats, cotton swabs, cotton balls, ear cleaners (2 different aromas), and 2 different perfumes. They then have 5 different shampoos, and towels for use. Only use 2 towels per shower. They also have aprons for us to wear to prevent us from getting soaked and a huge blow drier that's attached to the wall.

What do you do when your cats decide they need a change in their diet- mostly because they suddenly consider themselves too refined even for Fancy Feast, turn down their noses at 9 Lives, and won't even get up for Friskies? You come up to Chow Hound and simply pick up a few cans from their huge selection of cat foods and hope that you can find something that even the pickiest cat's taste buds will finally enjoy. But this place is more than just cat food- it's full of wonderful supplies and potential pets for pretty much everything under the sun! It doesn't matter what you have- if it's aching, you'll find supplements and soft beds. If it's energetic, you'll find toys for it to chase or scratchers for it to work out all that extra energy on. If it's hungry, there are aisles and refrigerators full of new brands of food for them to eat and try that ought to satisfy even the pickiest pet. There are also some animals here who need some good forever homes, too- so if you're looking, at least come on by and see if one or more of these wonderful potential pets can find a place with you! Own your very own pupper? Have they gotten into something they shouldn't have, or has it just been a while and bathing them at home is a pain? Then bring them on in and give them a nice, wonderful bath at Chow Hound's dog bathing facilities. Apparently they're good for dogs of most sizes, and you get most everything in the flat price- shampoo, conditioner, pretty much everything you might need to make any old dog into a pampered pupper. I will offer up caution, though- watch where you step! With so many dogs coming in and out, there is the occasional accident- wether someone just can't hold it and goes on the floor, or something else- and while the store clerks are very quick with their mops, it still pays to watch where you step, yes? Finally, yes- there is a store cat. We didn't get their name, but we did feel its imperious stare from the highest point it could reach- on top of an already massive cat tower on an already high shelf. I don't know how friendly they are, myself... But anyways, if you're in the area and want to stop in, I would recommend you come on in and see what they have to offer!

Animal cages are filthy. I have reported to store staff and have called corporate twice to report. The store has a terrible smell.

This review is for a spay appointment we had in January, 2021. What a way to start the new year! First, the new building! It looks so beautiful from the outside. Clean, well-designed, and you can tell that it is them from the enormous dog statue inside! :) For pandemic spay appointments, you call in and reserve a spot on the calendar when they open the schedule for new bookings. I had to wait over an hour on the phone, but that is because they were closed for almost 2 months, I believe, because of the move. The phone staff were incredibly patient and kind. We drove up on the day of Rosencrantz's appointment, as directed. We waited in line while staff went car to car and ascertained who we were, and put an identifier on our car under the windshield wiper. We filled out the paperwork. Note: Everyone must be masked, and the cat had to be in a hard-sided carrier, per their emailed instructions. The staff members were masked and I felt safe in conversing with them. Then your car gets to the front of the line, and you hand over the carrier. Poor Rosencrantz was so unsure of what was going on! But I digress. At 4-4:30, you drive back and wait in line to pick up your pet. When we were able to get R, the staff member delivering her was very kind and patient with his time, while we asked questions and he gave specific directions. One thing that would have been good to put on the original directions is to quarantine them to a small room for a while, once you get home, and to have fresh litter. Upon reflection, that makes TOTAL sense, but sometimes we don't think ahead. The price was SO reasonable: $40 for a spay, and $20 for 2 vaccines. That price is much appreciated. It is able to be so low because of grants and other funding (thank you!). In all of our interactions with staff, everyone was SO kind and caring. I never felt rushed or had an unanswered question. Highly recommended!

I didn't think the people in the parking lot waiting for the place to open were very polite. I was the 2nd car in the lot but other people ran in front of me to check in so I became #4 (not the fault of the Humane Society!). After you check in you go get your dog, but you have to wait until the person in front of you has checked their dog in before you go. Which was kind of a problem in the freezing cold. Especially since I didn't want to lose my spot again to everyone else that was jumpy! My dog was fine after the surgery. She was drugged up so very lethargic but overall everything with the surgery went well. The staff was very nice and friendly. They were talking to the dogs and the people. I wish they would just have a better system to drop off that could be less of a run for it method!

The problem is that, after getting her home we discovered she was still infested with tape worms. We had to get her to a vet a.s.a.p and have her de wormed .. again .. apparently. This animal should have never been put up for adoption in her condition. We paid quite a bit of money for a kitten we thought was thoroughly treated. It cost me even more money .. this facility was going to issue a partial refund for the unnecessary expense and aggravation, but NEVER followed through on it.
