It's not often I crave bbq, but tonight was the night. I've driven by this little BBQ hut for the past few weeks and it's intrigued me. While they DO have clam chowder, the bbq is why I was here. We did the family combo which was $37.50 (the website said about $10 cheaper so I was a little surprised) and easily feeds 3-4 people meat and rice wise. It also comes with a slaw, but it is a small portion. I am not a fan of the slaw. We also didn't get the other side advertised. I loved the pulled pork. The chicken was good. Ok. A few things. The business REALLY needs to update the prices on their website. They are INCREDIBLY dated. We ordered 2 combo's and 2 chowders over the phone for pickup. When we arrived at the foodtruck, the prices of the combos were almost DOUBLE what we were expecting. The website says the combo is $16.50. The combo actually costs $28.00. Additionally, despite the website saying this: "All BBQ comes with Chowder Express Java Rice, Island Slaw, and Curried Pickled Cucumber & Carrots" The combos did not come with curried pickled cucumbers and carrots. The food was OK. The portions were absolutely MASSIVE. The combo could easily feed two people. Worth trying, just make sure you order from the truck so you can see the prices first. read more

I came here the day before and I got the ribs combo. The plate was so heavy and to my pleasant surprised I opened it up and saw so much food. The prices here are likely the best in town. I'd suggest unbeatable. The food was steaming hot. I haven't had bbq this good in as long as I can remember. The clam chowder was soooo creamy and filled with yummy goodness. I was in such shock of the awesome experience I decided I'm coming back tomorrow. I was first in line for them to open. I was met by a warm smile from a man named Edgar. I think he's the owner. This time I ordered the pork belly and a bigger portion of clam chowder. CHOWDER EXPRESS came through again. The meat was so tender and just the right amount of sauce. Very tasty and affordable! We enjoyed the chowder, and wished we had been more hungry to try other food options, too. Ambiance: I have never seen a chowder kiosk before so had to check it out! Chowder Express is at a new location, 2506C Street. it's in the same parking lot as Leroy's Restaurant, just a bit south of Fireweed. The food is delicious and there is so.much for what you pay. $15.00 for ribs, rice, coleslaw, a brownie and a cup of chowder. My favorite is his pulled pork sandwich with the coleslaw, brownie and chowder for $12.50. It's a to go drive thru only.. I recommend it. So good! read more

This place is listed as having some of the best chowder in Anchorage so we thought we would try it out. It is a drive through only food truck so it was quick and easy and reasonably priced considering what most restaurants are charging. There's not much on the menu but everything on it is cooked perfectly, great place to get food for the whole family the prices are awesome for the amount of food you get.
