This place is a pretty good value. For two people it ran $42 before tip. We didn't get a menu coming in so I think it's sit down grab a plate and make your way through the line to the grill. We waited around 15 minutes for the grill and our table was almost given away. They weren't the most attentive, but our plates were cleared away when we were done with them. It's got some of the basics, chicken, pork, beef, bean sprouts carrots and broccoli for your bowl nothing fancy and exciting. Outstanding. Ordered mongolian BBQ with select veggies, pork lo mein, sesame chicken, eggrolls, and crab rangoons. Sorry no pics, it all disappeared quite quickly. Entrees came with white rice. Everything was prepared to perfection and even with DoorDash, arrived steaming hot and well packaged with sauces and utensils included. I haven't had TD in a decade and it's as delicious as I remember. We all know that prices have increased exponentially over the last few years and often times quality/quantity of prepared food has decreased as businesses struggle to deliver fair service. Came in a couple of times and found the food to be fresh and good, though I think $20 for buffet to be a bit spendy. I got a bowl of food for the grill and got spicy szechwan this last time. Along with the fresh fixings for the grill there is another buffet area that has fresh salad, chinese food in the form of sesame chicken, mongolian beef, egg rolls etc... I got full fast and had a bit left over of the grill food and the nice server let me get a box, though it is frowned upon. I think to stop people from purposely taking more food home. Every time that my coworker and I have come here for lunch, the quality of the food and service has been outstanding. They've mentioned to us that, even if (for instance) they don't have the glazed spicy chicken mini-drums and wings on the buffet line, and they've got those parts (simply not glazed), they get the sauce out from the kitchen and add it for *your* plate. They do that to keep the wings and drums from getting overcooked and hard while sitting on the steam table. Ditto, they keep the mushrooms on the Mongolian Grill line inside a refrigerator to keep them fresh - and then you can simply ask and they'll bring the to the line for you. That's a commitment to customer service - ensuring that some things don't get overcooked or left to get nasty by sitting out for hours. The 'per pound' price for take-out is better than other Chinese buffets - except, like the others, for seafood items. read more

This family run restaurant is a solid 3 stars in my book. The dad handled the stir fry side, the mom managed the food, and the daughter had the hostess and guest services duties. The buffet choices were limited but not too bad. I guess that's Alaska for ya and not like the crazy choices in Atlanta. I suppose they tried to make up for it with the stir fry side where you can create your own bowl of meats, veggies, and/or noodles. The appetizers/salads and desserts were all at one station. The meats, veggies, and other entrée items were spread out at two stations. So yes, the choices were not THAT limited. The food quality were pretty average imo. You will need those water refills as with any buffet you visit, the sodium will sneak up on ya. Twin Dragon also served a bowl of egg drop soup that's automatically brought out so that was different and nice. Service was a tad slower than usual, but the Sunday church crowd and limited staff bogged everything down. read more

In my 15 years in Alaska, this place has had the best Chinese food in Anchorage. Period! It's in a run-down part of town and not beautifully decorated, but the food and service more than compensate. The Mongolian BBQ, cabbage soup they give you, the kimchi, sesame chicken, egg rolls, etc., all outstanding and prepared with a lot of love and fresh ingredients. This place was super popular on a Sunday afternoon. I saw a bunch of church people. There was not much selection in the choices but the star of the show was the stir fry area. Grab a plate full of stuff, pick a sauce, and they will stir fry it for you. The rest of the buffet was ok quality. Nothing truly stood out. I went back to the basic Chinese style fried wings a couple of times. Go for the stir fry. Wait in line if you have to. Trust me. Would I come here again? Probably. By far, Twin Dragon is the best Mongolian BBQ in Alaska. Their vegetables are always fresh, and the grill chefs both do a great job. The buffet section is pretty tasty, as well. The atmosphere is very casual, but with big, comfortable booths, and it's always warm in there. The hostesses/servers are very friendly and prompt. The owner is also friendly, and everyone is helpful. I've been going for years and they know that I love water, so they give me a glass twice as big as the norm just because. So sweet. I suggest the Szechuan Shrimp with Vegetables and Sesame Chicken from the buffet. A green salad is always good too, because they keep their lettuce/tomato/cucumbers/imitation crab so fresh. Without question, a Mongolian BBQ bowl must be tried. Sometimes two! I get beef or chicken, green bell peppers, onions, bean sprouts, cabbage, zucchini, sometimes mushrooms, and always LOTS of carrots. Szechuan flavor with a heaping spoonful of garlic. Ahhmazing. I have been going to Twin Dragon since I was itty bitty--like less than five years old. Decor is funky, even with my rose tinted glasses. Random photos of vegetables on the walls clash with the booth seating and dim lighting. Odd choice all around, and I say that with love. There are two options for food, the buffet and the grill. The buffet is standard, but there are some real gems hiding in the line up, like the Mongolian beef, the chicken wings, and the tempura green beans. It's split into three parts--Salad/Dessert, Rice/Assorted, and Entrees. The desserts are good, the salad station has some really good oranges, the Korean doughnuts at Rice/Assorted are my favorite on the buffet, and the veggies in the entrees are crisp. The grill is what I always pick though, hands down. You build your bowl--pork, beef, chicken, veggies, noodles--, pick your sauce, and get to watch it stir-fried on the stone top grill. You can also ask for changes to the sauces--I always get Sichuan extra spicy and with extra soy sauce. It's always good, and I have never had a bad bowl. Oh, and when you are first seated you get a bowl of soup (so good). The staff is friendly, and on the ball about keeping drinks full. I came down here with a friend for lunch earlier this week. It has been years since I last visited this place and I regret not coming back sooner. Twin Dragon is not exactly located in the best neighborhood on the corner of 15th and Gambell across from the Black Angus Steakhouse and the AK Aces Hockey store, but don't let that stop you from coming by for lunch. The place is clean and the seating area is spaciously laid out. The employees here greet everyone with a loud hello and a smile before showing you to your seat. Once you arrive at your table, you are free to go to the buffet or to the Mongolian BBQ grill where you can pick the veggies, meat, and sauces of your choice and watch the grill master prepare your meal before serving it to you. I opted to go with a large bowl of thinly sliced beef, fresh mushrooms, sliced onions, sprouts, noodles, and shredded carrots with some spicy Szechwan sauce, sesame oil, soy sauce, and a good amount of chopped garlic. It was fun watching him throw the ingredients on the grill and mixing it up very fast before sweeping it in the serving bowl in a show of skill. Not surprisingly, this was very delicious and something I would get the second time around, but the buffet had a good variety of food that couldn't be ignored. My friend opted for the regular buffet and she decided to go with a mix of Sweet and Sour Chicken, Mongolian Beef, and Shrimp with Vegetables. For my second go-round, I decided to try a sample plate of the Sesame Chicken, Crab Rangoon, and the spicy Sesame Chicken Wings. The spicy sesame wings were some of the best I've ever had in a Chinese restaurant and I could've easily been satisfied with just this alone as a meal. We did enjoy the other dishes as they were hot and fresh from the kitchen and like one of the other reviewers said, they replace the food that has been out for awhile with a hot new batch. That is a huge plus for this place and all places that have buffets should follow a similar practice if they want to avoid negative reviews online or negative feedback from dissatisfied diners. I decided to go with four stars rather than five since the prices for food outside of the buffet are higher than other places. The best value is the lunch buffet which includes the Mongolian grill at around $13 or $14 per person. It may not look much from the outside and the surrounding neighborhood is questionable, but you're in for a pleasant surprise when you stop on in for a delicious, filling meal. read more

I loved the Mongolian grill part-where I get to pick what meats and vegetables I want and they cook it up right in front of you. What I would have loved to see, is some rice in addition to the noodles for the bowl. The rest of the buffet was kinda of a hit and miss. I mainly ended up picking the fried stuff and Mongolian beef. Nothing else looked really appetizing and to be frank after two bowls of the Mongolian bbq bowls I didn't have any space left in my tummy for any more food or the dessert either. I was in anchorage for four days and my friend told me to come here. I wasn't expecting much but I was thoroughly surprised. The noodle bowl was so good and they made it as spicy as I wanted it yet it still had so much flavor. The buffet aspect of it had a decent selection. First plate was a trash dump of everything that looked good then I think I went back for the bourbon chicken and general or orange chicken a few times. I'm coming back here if I ever decide to move up there or am there for work. The cook who made the noodle bowl and the lady who rung me out up front were some of the most genuine people I've met.
