Right now, the best places to find them are: Thursdays at the Spenard Food Truck Carnival: https://www.yelp.com/biz/spenard-food-truck-carnival-anchorage-2 Weekends at Anchorage Market: https://www.yelp.com/biz/anchorage-market-and-festival-anchorage I got the combo plate with brisket and pulled pork combo plate. The brisket was moist and fatty. It had huge chunks of fat, AS IT SHOULD. If you don't like fatty brisket, you dont' like brisket. Please stick to that tough, dry stuff that tastes like beef jerky from the gas station that ya'll call "brisket". The pulled pork was nicely smokey and charred, and not overly sweet! So much of the pulled pork in this town is over honeyed/corn-syrup'd/glazed/etc. It came with crinkle fries and coleslaw. The slaw was a brilliant mix of sweet and zesty flavors, loved it. For $20, it was a tiny bit on the high side, but ultimately well worth the cost! The service was funny and friendly, some of the best I've had in Anchorage. I will be back! read more

The food here is amazing. The customer service is even better. We just happened to be leaving Costco and spotted the truck in the parking lot. I checked out the website on the side of the truck and asked for a business card. I had an appointment to get to and groceries to drop off, but I figured I'd stop back by for lunch. We ended up grabbing the kids some po boys sandwiches to hold them over. The food smelled so good!! It's all I could think about my whole appointment. We stopped back by after and ordered the Denali Fries, Jambalaya, and a blackened catfish po boy. Yes, blackened catfish. I was also very skeptical. I must admit I was surprised at how amazing everything tasted. The blackened catfish sandwich was really good. The bread they use is so soft and chewy. The fish is flavorful and moist! The coleslaw it came with wasn't saturated in mayonnaise. It's was just the perfect dish. It was so filling I didn't eat the coleslaw. The portion to price ratio is perfect!! The jambalaya was soooooooo good. Drool worthy good. Rice cooked perfectly. Flavor on point! Right amount of heat. Full of veggies and meat. Just phenomenal. The Denali fries were probably the most fulfilling and surprising entree. I thought it would be a side of fries just loaded up. No! It's the whole container! Loaded with perfectly cooked fries, cheese, meat, jalapeños, and bbq sauce. Every single fry was loaded up. I low key felt guilty ordering them because I only ordered them so I didn't have to share my food with the kids if they were peckish. No one finished them. I highly recommend the Denali fries if you're super duper hungry. Even if you're sharing. There's a lot of bang for your buck there. A lot goes into the pulled pork on top. And for all of us environmentally conscious people out there, they use 100% composting containers. The containers turn to soil within 90 days. There's literally no waste. The service was a 10 out of 10. Can't beat it. Very personable, knowledgeable, and nice. Super upbeat and fun. I recommend this food truck. If you see it be sure to stop. Every. Single. Festival. I ALWAYS get a damn po' boy from these folks. Seriously it doesn't matter when, where, rain or shine I ALWAYS get a po' boy from em. I've had the brisket, oyster, shrimp and catfish po' boy. I feel like bubba from Forrest Gump except I'm talking about po' boys. For starters the catfish is phenomenal. It's fresh and crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside. They use a traditional corn meal batter for the catfish along with there fried oysters and shrimp which are DELECTABLE I tell you. Oh they do not skimp you. My damn po' boy always flooding with seafood on it. It feels like a sandwich you'd have in Louisiana everything from the mayo, French bread, lettuce and staple Louisiana hot sauce I tell ya they do it right. The last time I ate from these guys I felt like giving seafood a break as I didn't want iodine poisoning from the million other times I've gotten shellfish from em. SO I got brisket.. and did I tell you they even do BBQ well?! Damn brisket had beautiful smoke rings and it was tender as EVER. During lunch hour there truck and some others like to post up near W 34th Ave where all those tall fancy shiny buildings are located and lure the lunch crowd. Wish I was writing a good review but had a bad experience and not great food for a a lot of money and a lot of my time. I was excited to try their food, and love that they have salmon as an option and salads too. Waited over 30 minutes and had zero communication that something was wrong. Asked about my order twice after the 15 and 20 minute mark, the girls at the window just said "its coming". When everyone who ordered after me had their food and left I asked what was wrong and then they told me they made a brisket poboy on accident and had to remake it, but they didn't remake it in the fly, they moved my order to the back of everyone's order then remade it. I asked for my money back and they refused. Made me wait even longer and didn't apologize. Bad communication, bad ticket organization, and very poor costumer service. The food wasn't very good either, bread fell apart and tasted old/dry/stale. French fries I could have made better at home, very cheap and flavorless/freezer burned. Salmon was good, but not worth almost $20 and a 35 min wait. I can go to a restaurant and get salmon quicker, and have a much higher quality meal for the same price and less wait. read more

Found Simply Southern at the Saturday Market in downtown Anchorage. May have found Saturday lunch for the rest of the summer. Their jambalaya is second to none. Head over heels better than any other restaurant in Anchorage and better then I have ever tasted. Was so delicious ended up buying three orders since the better half wanted mine and decided to buy one for the youngest to take home. Try Simply Southern. You will not be disappointed.
