First time here; crab cakes were AMAZING. The aioli that came with it was great but I did also ask for some chow chow which was delightful. 3 star because I'm a huge chowder fan and this one I took about 2 spoonfuls. Very fishy taste, not creamy, no potato. I figured a chowder house would have the best of the best. The ingredients were definitely all very fresh. I had rosé to drink which was local (coastal vineyard) - first time I ever tried it and was in love. It's too bad you can't bring drinks outdoors but understandable :)

Great lunch here. My husband and I shared a bowl of chowder and were tempted to return for dinner. The chowder was full if fish and creamy. Delicious! I also took a picture of a shared plate of seafood from another table.

Soooooooo many people recommended this place - food is good but be weary of the grumpy staff and the time warp you'll experience once you step into the large shed playing the radio on a stool by the door. Our food wasn't bad - the chowder was chockful of seafood but it was not the best I had tasted - could've done with some dill and a bit more seasoning. We also got the crab cakes, which were full of crab and didn't have any potoato at all (yay!) but were oddly slightly curried in flavour - different but not bad. We also got the lobster sandwich which tasted fine and was, again, filled with lobster meet. I would suggest holding out and driving somewhere else for food, especially if they look busy.

    Great seafood and great service!

Ver tasty chowder in a funky building in a beautiful setting. Stop and have a bowl as you drive by. Staff was pleasant and efficient.

Called the chowder house but if you like water chowder this is your place. Totally disappointed in the food, if you can skip this stop.

The chowder here was the best I have had as far as flavor and loaded with seafood. Also loved the crab cakes. Worth a stop!!

A true seaside shack on a beautiful coastal point. Great food. Friendly service and a great Cape Breton experience.

We chose this restaurant based on the location of our hotel, keep in mind there aren't many options around. I think this was also the reason this restaurant was busy! The grilled scallop burger was the best dish of the night! The seafood platter was mediocre, nothing special. It had calamari, fries, shrimp, oysters, and haddock... maybe more? I can't recall. The clam chowder was not it. It wasn't creamy like the clam chowder I'm used to and was the worst dish of the night. The biscuit was okay, not buttery enough in my opinion. The lobster roll was mediocre. It was my first time trying lobster rolls and my expectations were way higher as many people love them! I'm not sure if it's because there wasn't enough sauce or the sauce just wasn't that tasty. We also subbed the fries for a caesar salad and were charged the price of an extra caesar salad ($9) rather than just an added substitute price. The milkshakes were great! The vanilla milkshake tasted like french vanilla ice cream and the strawberry milkshake was also really good. A bit small for the price. Overall, wouldn't visit again. The view is great though!

At any rate this place is located at the very end of a country road. If you made it there, you deserve a treat, and you'll receive it. Rustic settings, and plenty of room. A country performer was playing his guitar in the front room, and the place was busy, but very cozy. Easily the kind of place where after finishing your dinner, grab a glass of wine and sit down to listen him play. We ate way too much and all we had was both excellent and well priced. Strangely enough they even had a vegan dish which my wife pounced upon, an asparagus couscous (I obviously went for the seafood). If you are passing through the vicinity it's well worth a visit.

We tried an array of items including the fish chowder (highly recommend), scallops, seafood pasta, steak, halibut, and lobster. All were good but the standouts were the chowder and lobster dinner. We also had the complimentary breakfast every morning which was a nice perk during our stay. The quiche was a staple in the AM. Only thing missing was sausage or bacon. Would recommend if you are staying here or nearby. Since I'm from MA I've had a lot of amazing seafood in New England so it's hard to compete!

I've tried both dining in and takeout at this restaurant during a trip to the Maritime and this is my favorite restaurant of the trip. My tip is to make reservation in advance, they could get packed easily. The restaurant has a bright setting and is located next to the Ocean. Service here is attentive. Our waitress was proactively providing us sharing plates and utensils and kept us notified on the food order status without us asking. Every single dish here was also delicious. Expect $80-$100 per person for dinner. The dishes we've tried include: - Scallop crudo: very fresh and refreshing. Everyone in the group loves it. - Seafood chowder: Flavouring and ingredients are both decent. - Lobster roll with summer salad: One of our favorite dishes. Fresh and sweet lobster mingled really well with the refreshing salad with sweet strawberries and walnuts. - Lobster dinner with steak: decent portion and premium cut of the steak. - Grilled salmon: Not bad but not wowing. - Seafood linguine: Very decent portion of seafood and very flavourful. - Chocolate raspberry cake and creme brulee: Classy way of cooking. Old school but very delicious. Overall, this is a perfect place if you are looking for something nice to eat to enjoy your relaxing vacation.
