In all fairness I have not used an electrician in a few years so a price this high may be concidered the norm, but not to me. When complete the charge was $805. Apparently there was also a fee for the credit card but it is not explained on the invoice. Also the plastic covers were $89 each. He was also up front about that. But he informed me one of the current plastic covers could not be reused due to a size issue so my wife wanted them to match as they are on our deck. All in all the work was professional and he was done in about an hour. My only issue was the way I look at it I paid $800 for an hour labor, 2 plastic covers and 2 GFI outlets. He actually reused a new one I had already purchased. See attached photo of one of the outlets and the plastic cover. Needless to say I lowered the rating only because of the price.

They…read morewere pretty good about finding the right sized bulb, so I went in today to try to buy new fixtures for the kitchen. Now the bad news. The few they had on display had no prices. The details were on cardstock, heavily faded (looks like the same display for years). Employee was minimally helpful, unable to find a similar fixture in a catalog. (Basically, you sit down and just look at their catalogs). I had a fairly specific set of features, but he flipped endlessly. Finally I asked him about the fixture on display. He had to cut the tag off with scissors (clearly no one had asked about that for years). While I continued to wait, I looked around the store. I was shocked. The bulletin board was full of poltical cutouts and vile jokes. Parading radical right wing support like that in a business is certainly bound to alienate customers, and it did me. I will not be going back. Keep your politics (demented or otherwise) out of a business setting. In RI they are alienating about 70% of the public. I told the guy at the computer never mind, I don't do business with companies that are willing to politically alienate their customer base. Never going back.

My problem was solved but I should have asked about pricing policies before scheduling service. I…read moredid not, and no info was offered. My problem was lack of heat (in winter) due to furnace tripping the breaker. A heating tech was sent. He replaced a heat sequencer. About 30 minutes after the tech left, the breaker tripped again. A few hours later Jestings sent an electrician who determined the breaker was "burned" and needed replacement. The electrician did not have a breaker with him and said he would put in a temporary one and return with the correct breaker. He came the next day and replaced the breaker. I was charged $90 in labor for each of the three calls, totalling $270 just for the labor. Materials and taxes brought the bill to $358. I questioned why I was being charged twice for the breaker replacement as these might routinely be carried on the truck, especially when the call concerns a potentially bad breaker. (I was told their electricians don't carry anything on the truck.) If they had asked, I could easily have opened the electrical box and communicated the number over the phone. Or texted a picture. It seems to me this third visit was a manufactured and unnecessary one. I was very disappointed in their policy but my fault for not asking, I guess. Service was provided within 6 hours. Office staff member was responsive and courteous over the phone. This was somewhat of an emergency so I am grateful that Jestings came to my aid and managed to fix the problem.
