I did a Google search for "BEST Electricians in RI" and decided to go with Chevalier Electric not only because of the solid five star reviews but also because I appreciated how I was treated with compassion, patience and professionalism right from the start while speaking with Rafaelina Chevalier. Moises Chavalier (the owner) and his team, Edison, Max and Marcus arrived first thing in the morning and started working right away so that by 4:30pm they were finished. They upgraded the panel and also added more electrical outlets and fixed some light switches. I was very impressed at their teamwork and comraderie, because it made things go smoothly. This summer, after 24 years of good service, our Lennox air conditioner unit failed. We asked…read morerepresentatives from several local companies to evaluate the situation, make recommendations, and submit an estimate to replace the unit. Almost all the representatives that contacted us noted that a failed compressor was the problem Another problem was that our unit was located beneath the roof in a third-floor attic. We decided to go with Continental Engineering, the same company that installed our unit 24 years ago. While each of the representatives was knowledgeable and courteous, it was Richard DiRocco from Continental Engineering that impressed us the most. Not only did he give us a reasonable estimate, but he also described how that unit on the third floor could be accessed and removed. Our min contact was Pam in the main office who made all the arrangements. When the day for the new units arrived, Roger and two assistants installed the new units. They were amazing. Before they removed the original unit, they put cloth over the stairs and other areas where they would be working. Everyone we dealt with at Continental was informative, helpful, and very professional. We look forward to many more years of comfort with our new unit.

Had PM service done on A/C. My girlfriend was told the capacitor was dead and refrigerant, R410a…read morewas no longer approved by the EPA. Tech Alex claimed they aren't able to replace the refrigerant anymore. Said the unit was too old to be serviced and that the blower in the attic was corroded and needed to be replaced. Performed none of the required maintenance and gave her a quote for a new unit. $18,000. Keep in mind I do maintenance for a living, so I know a few basic things. I got home and looked up the refrigerant and it says you can still use R410a refrigerant, but new units can't be made using it. Lie #1 I opened the unit and did some voltage measurements to find no voltage coming in to the contactor. I checked the breaker. Was fine. Opened the Disconnect box and noticed the red service handle was set to OFF. I pulled it out, flipped it to ON and sure enough, the unit began working as if nothing happened. If the capacitor was bad, it wouldn't have come on. Lie #2 I opened the case on the condenser to find it had not been cleaned at all. I cleaned it. Vacuumed all the leaves and sprayed the coils off with a garden hose. I've heard this company has changed owners recently. Obviously, they don't have the customer's best interests in mind. I am pissed.

For that reason, we hired them to come in and install dimmers on the inside lighting. Simple job, good work, and we paid them immediately; no issues. In 2015 we had more electrician work and tried to hire them again. Called repeatedly, left messages and spoke to the office and was told multiple times owner Jerry would call back. He never did. I even went so far as stopping in their office one day and to my face Jerry wrote down my number in his appointment book and promised he would call me. 4 months later; he still never has. Too bad Jerry can't be honest and simply say the job is too small or too far from Warwick to South Kingstown or whatever the real reason is. Business must be good for these guys that they don't need/want work. So unless you are a developer or looking for a sub for a large job, don't waste your time with these guys. Look for someone who is honest and really needs and wants the work.
