Our backyard was a mud pit and needless to say required a lot of work. When we first began looking for landscape contractors, we obtained six estimates before deciding to work with Chris. Chris came out and took his time walking our yard and talked with us in great detail about the drainage system we needed, given that our lot is a good 2 feet higher than the two lots behind us. We found him to be much more knowledgeable and thorough then any of the other contractors we talked to. He also really understood our vision of what we wanted and offered great guidance from his expertise. He communicated wonderfully throughout each job he has done for us. We have hired him 3 times for drainage, irrigation, paving stones, lattice extension on fence, building pergola and building deck for hot tub, built outdoor shower, and put in trees. I'm sure I'm leaving stuff out, but just know he can do it all. We also use his company for regular yard maintenance and have had a wonderful experience with Richard his lawn maintenance guy. When I didn't receive a return call, I checked another website which directed me to the California Contractors State License Board (CSLB). It notes that the contractor license for this company has been suspended. I think it is safe to assume that they are no longer in business as of June 2023. read more

I knew I wanted to clean things up and create a walkway next to the driveway, but wasn't sure about the details. Chris called back very quickly and was able to come over that day and give me a few different options and ideas. They cleaned up the back first, replacing the tan bark with Russian River Rock and cutting back quite of bit over overgrowth. The team worked hard, paid attention to detail and did a great job! After being unimpressed by the high prices and okay-ish work of our last landscaper, my husband and I went on the hunt for someone new. Many phone calls and interviews later, I met up with Chris. He was prompt, thorough, and made time to meet at my house on my lunch break (which went the extra mile). He answered all of our questions in a thoughtful way, and when he didn't know something or wasn't sure about a quote, he went to find us a real answer instead of just spitballing it. Another great thing about Chris and his business is Richard, one of his crew. Richard is always so courteous, nice, and gets the job done quickly (but don't get me wrong, the guy does a great job). Before we hired Chris, our last landscaper refused to prune our medium-sized meyer lemon tree that has been one of our favorite things about our garden. It was impossible to keep up with picking all the fruit all the time as it over-produced, and because of his refusal to prune or maintain the tree, a storm split part of the branches and our poor tree was sickly and dying. Chris gave us a really fair estimate for the pruning and clean up; and because of his and Richard's diligence, our beautiful tree is looking healthy and is thriving again! Finally, we have had a really hard year following my father-in-law's passing, and with a lot of time being devoted to taking care of his affairs or our own, we sometimes did not have time to keep an eye on our insane tomato crop. Richard would adjust stakes (or take it upon himself to use sticks to prop up plants) quietly, without being asked. Initial Meet & Greet was good. Chris (the owner) is a folksy talker. We exchanged a few emails after our meeting and he responded well. The first week: I sent Chris an email stating that my husband and I did not think his employee had shown up as my husband works from home and only steps out briefly for a lunch break (??) or did we have the wrong day!? (Customer re-assurance goes a long way sometimes, especially in the beginning.)) Truly, we wanted to meet his employee who would be taking care of our front and back yard because we did not get to meet him at the Meet & Greet. Well, Chris took quick offense to the way I asked, responded curtly, and then dropped off from the radar screen. Then, Chris said he was "going out of town and would not be responding to emails until the next week". The next week came and no call or email from Chris about further work we had agreed to in the beginning. My husband was waiting for Chris to call on the telephone, preferably, to discuss irrigation equipment choices. I had requested a stump removal - no answer to that email either........ Our brief observations: 1. No paperwork is exchanged- no written Client Contract exists - all verbal. Your word against his. This business does not use any paper or electronic client contract documentation for a client to keep so that the customer can have the work itemized. Example: What will be done weekly or how long each week his employee will give us to do the work, and any extra work we need done. No time given to us as to when his employee will be showing up so that we can meet his employee. No policies or guidelines for how to get ad hoc repair and design landscape work accomplished by a certain date from his employee. 2. No documented project schedule of when the various landscape repairs requested will begin so that we can plan. (I'm thinking: Do you need money from us? If so, when?) It's all verbal or if the owner chooses to communicate, at all. If you are looking for a professional company that uses client contracts, has policies and guidelines in place, and is transparent about their work load, project timelines, and what to expect weekly, then this might not be the match you are looking for in terms of customer satisfaction. BUYER BEWARE!!! Employed him for 18+ months for weekly gardening services at my home in Windsor. He started very strongly and professionally, and I was seriously impressed. But as time progressed the services gradually degraded until his team was nothing more than 'mow, blow, and go', and there are plenty of those outfits around. We had a disagreement, and he resigned with no notice - VERY TACKY!!! He left my wife and I in a real bind because we had company coming, BUT we persevered on our own, and after a couple days of effort the garden looks countless times better than when I was paying Chris to maintain it.
