This review is embarrassingly overdue, but better late than never. Ace did an amazing job with my…read moreprimary bath remodel; living/dining, bath and kitchen painting (with some demo work to remove built-in cabinetry); recessed lighting installation; and some custom carpentry (e.g., bench for primary bath shower, countertop between kitchen and dining area, sleeping den for my dog with a nice sliding door). This project required a lot of attention to detail and workmanship, and together we navigated through the whole project successfully with a couple of curve balls along the way. I appreciated Ace's proactiveness in planning and communication. Her small team is efficient and and reliable, and overall the work done was a great value. I am very happy with my updated living spaces, which make my home feel like a sanctuary! I highly recommend Ace with Kannon Construction and would definitely use her services again.

This review is soooooo long overdue and I feel like a jerk-hole for not writing it sooner. If…read moreyou've ever had a handy person or contractor do decent work but then you end up swearing for days or weeks because of the huge mess they left behind, your experience with Ace will be a ray of golden sunshine!!! Background: I live in a duplex with shared attic space; it was originally a single family residence with just one attic door. I wanted access to the attic without hassling my neighbors/tenants. Ace not only created a fantastically-functional attic opening, she also took the time and care to make it look beautiful (i.e. like it was part of the original house with decorative trim and multiple coats of paint). But the BEST PART is the care she took to protect my home and and that she left me with no clean-up chores. I've had so much work done on this home and previous homes (small jobs to remodels and major construction). And this is the first time that I've had this experience--of not cursing like a sailor at the dust or grime all over my stuff. Ace did a superb job of containing the dust when she had to drill and cut into the ceiling. I forgot what it's called, but she basically created a tent in the area where she needed to work. There was no drywall dust or sawdust in my storage room or near my laundry area. Bless her!!! She also helped me identify the source of some cracks in my ceiling. They were there before she started her work, so I cropped the photo of my new attic opening. Did I mention that she's nice, easy-going, and that she patiently answered all of my questions? Did I mention that she was very communicative and pro-active in giving me updates on her arrival time, etc.? If you haven't figured it out yet, I was and still am extremely freaking happy with her work and her work ethic. I will definitely be hiring her again.

I decided to support a local business and came to the shop to solve my lost key issue for my…read moremailbox When I came in the man behind the counter stayed sitting on his stool, which on the other side of the corner and blocked visually from me. So I stooped over the counter finally and asked him if he could help me. He was very gruff and asked what I wanted I told him I needed a key for my mailbox. He asked me to show me what he needed. I didn't know if he wanted me to come around the counter because he wasn't getting up. It didn't seem appropriate to go on the other side of the counter, so I stayed where I was and didn't know if he was being funny or what his issue was. And then I showed him the different parts to the box that I need and he said I would need a whole new lock to put into the box. So he gets up and gets the package of the set that I need. It shows a price on the package, but he said that's not the right price. I asked him so what is the right price and it was about a dollar more so. I said that's fine. I just wanted to get what I needed and leave at that point. Because he wasn't very pleasant at all. I told him I could pay with my debit card. So he had the machine in front of him and told me to tap my card which I did. Then I was surprised when he asked me for my pin number . Thank goodness, I wasn't intimidated and gave it to him. Instead, I leaned over Covered the number number area with my hand and put in my code myself. I just thought it was so odd and rude of him to ask me for my pin . I'll never go back there again. He seemed very bothered to have me in his shop, was so reluctant to get up from his stool, and it was very awkward when he asked me for my pin number.

AND Home Depot couldn't make a special mailbox key. So I finally wised up to the idea of going to a REAL key maker/ smith, just the good ole days with father as a child. It's been so long, I wasn't sure that they even existed anymore. But here this place is. A throwback to the 1980s if you will. The place definitely has that run down feel where REAL people do REAL work fixing things. The gentleman who helped me appeared tired and ill but nonetheless he soldiered on with basically one hand made like 3 sets of keys for me. And they ALL work!!! [applause] These people use the good ole grinder and have hundreds and hundreds of stock key blanks. AND they are cheaper than Home Depot. Suffice it, I'll only be coming here from now on to make any keys!!! And you should too!!!!
