According to their website "we carry plants, garden supplies, books, gifts, and locally made items. Maximizing the enjoyment of life spaces through nature, imagination and thrift." Rick Molek is the owner of Thrifty Garden and he opened this micro-nursery in January of 2018. In addition to the gifts and plant supplies, Molek offers workshops on raising houseplants and also offers a houseplant hospital by appointment. Houseplants are a great choice for novice gardeners when Florida's temperatures start to soar the 90's. Thrifty Garden offers many different types of houseplants in the shop, and prices are affordable so you can flex your green thumb with minimal risk. They have offered in-person classes on plant care ever since the shop opened and with the pandemic they added online and phone coaching too. Don't forget that they offer beer and wine too. They say there are 75-90 vendors in there. To me, it is just a big store with a very wide variety of merchandise. From the outside, it looked a little dated. But once you step inside, it is awesome. I bought a dress, two pair of pants and a sweater here. There was a guy who was assisting me and I don't remember his name. He was helpful without being pushy and that is always appreciated by me. The quality of the clothes is pretty good. The prices are mostly pretty fair. I did notice a run in the pants I bought after I got home of course. They would gladly return or exchange them but I live too far away. I will get them altered near home. I just wish The Franklin Shops had a location near where I live. The various rooms are themed, the front entry way is the cafe where one can sit and enjoy a beverage while reading. There's a side room for children to play. Around the corner is the study with a fireplace, a large table, and the selection of history, fiction, non fiction, and spiritual books. The books are reasonably priced for a used book store. I was able to pick up a selection of three books for only $18. The staff were helpful, I asked about the night market that I saw advertised in the study. The first and third Saturdays of the month features a night market of local artisans. I will definitely check that out.
