We have been trying to get here to check out this little local book shop. I first heard of them from a favorite author of mine. She writes mystery books and the character lives on the island. Love it! She was doing a book signing and I was not going to be able to go. I was able to order a book from them and have the author sign it. That was about 2 years ago and we have been fans ever since. They were so incredibly polite and helpful. We missed coming here last year because of their hours. It is located on an island so they are not open super late. This is a cute little bookstore with different books, little trinkets and souvenirs to purchase. From my understanding they also do many events with different authors. We visited and were actually able to speak with the owner. She was so sweet, actually straightening from a previous nights event. She talked to us for a bit, got to know us and recommended us to her favorite authors. We wanted local books or books written about Sanibel and Captiva. She only had a few but of course we were able to find some we liked. I would highly recommend stopping here if you need a book while on vacation. If I lived in this area, this would be my local shopping place for books. It is always better to buy local. My only reason for a 4 is there was not a huge selection of local books and the ones she did have, she did not have the whole series. There was pretty much one of each as well, so my sister and I could not each get one. But again, I understand, its a small island. I just wish there was more and more copies. Overall though, we will stop in each year and check it out, see what's new and look for any treasures we can find. The fact that they are independent and do not charge more for a book is also really great. Its a good value for us to buy from a local shop as opposed to a mass retailer. We enjoyed this unique little store and the proprietor was fun to talk to. I only give it four stars, because, although they had handicap parking and a ramp onto the sidewalk, I was not able to enter the store without my daughter's help, because there was a step. read more

Wonderful little gem of a store with not just a great mix of contemporary and local books, but also the coolest assortment of little gifts. I didn't catch the name of the girl behind the counter, but she was so kind, helpful and knowledgeable. I hope to return again soon. read more

Today's edition of #bestiesbeveragesandbookstores takes us to Ft Myers to drop as friend off at the airport and visit MacIntosh Books and Paper. Talk about a fun place! They were originally out on Sanibel Island but that shop (like many others) sustained a lot of damage from Hurricane Ian. I don't know about you, but that made me determined to find and purchase something from their new store in Ft Myers. The store is super cute & cozy, and the woman working was so fun to chat with! This was probably the first bookstore I've gone where I didn't purchase a book, but instead found the most AMAZING paper pieces including a poster that I can't wait to have framed. read more

The inventory in this shop - which is older than me (44 y.o. as of April '19) - is selected, curated, and arranged with style, skill, and heart. To shop, attend a book signing, pick up your book club's latest read is a joyful, informative, and inspiring experience. Were only all bookstores (you reading me B&N and Books-A-Million?) places where the experience is as meaningful and enjoyable as the books we read. As a fan of indi book shops- I can promise this small but lovely shop does not disappoint. I might go so far as To say this is what a local bookshop should be. Light and bright, well organized, a lovely and present shop owner, a delightful selection of book related gifts. Not to mention a delightful children's section and an area dedicated to books related to this particular area of gulf coast Florida and Sanibel in particular. I make it a point to visit this shop when we make our now yearly visit to Sanibel. Worth the stop even for a brief foray away from the beach and the sunshine. read more

This is a small but really nice independent book shop. It has enough variety so that you can find something interesting to read, has information about new book releases, and also some great gift items like stationery and note pads. I love to support independent shops. I bought some book marks and a great matted print of a map of Sanibel Island. What a fun book store to go to. We vacation on Captiva island, just north, for a week at at time and always make a point to stop into the book store at least once during the week as we drive by. In addition to the usual beach reading, we've found more serious books that we might have missed. This year, because the merchandising is so good, we found books on T.E.Lawrence (Lawrence of Arabia) and Boston at the turn of the century. In the past we found books for our tween, the Hieronymus Bosch series, as well as puzzle books that continue to challenge. The selection is quite broad and should appeal to all audiences and ages. read more
