The food was really good! I got the Bubbagood burger and it was juicy, cooked great, and had lots of flavor! The service was fast and everything came out on time and was warm. The ambience was very nice and nostalgic. A lot of the inside has vintage tech signs.

Christakis Let's talk. Absolute disgrace. Disgusting service. Rude. NO CUSTOMER SERVICE was given I ASKED FOR TWO GYROS dinner included salad and fries - on a styrofoam plate I asked can I have a extra sauce And if I can get a little extra meat I handed my card and the receipt said $65! When I asked wait what in the world I was given my 2 pounds of meat she decided to heat up and charge me for and was told It is what it is. My husband was laughed at when he said hey no this surely isn't ok we don't want that for that price at all. She turned and spoke about him in Spanish and made fun of him thinking we don't understand. When we asked for a manager or owner or someone to speak to we were told the lady present was management and she refused to do anything for us. She said she would not offer any assistance and that's just that. And just stood smiling with sarcasm. If your charging a price like that Maybe say hey I'm going to charge you $45 for pounds of meat and $8 for an extra ounce of sauce - and when someone expresses frustration and unfair treatment YOUR IN THE SERVICE INDUSTRY! Do SOMETHING. Absolutely disgusting to treat someone that way and laugh and refuse to resolve anything. I will NEVER RETURN. I should have known when I stepped in and asked about ordering and the lady rushed me and said well what do you want we're busy. *picture of the $65 meal. For a business with scripture plastered everywhere they sure did not do well to reflect what is painted on menus and walls.

Another one checked off the Bucket List. All in all it was an overall decent meal. Ordered a Cheeseburger and Fries. Order was ready promptly and came as ordered. Bonus points for the thick slices of onion on the burger. Patty was thin and bun was large. Would prefer to pay more money for a thicker patty. Fries were too thick for my taste and a tad overdone anyway. Location was clean, food was as ordered, however I would not go out of my way to repeat.

Christakis burger (has pastrami), Philly steak was seasoned well and prepared fresh, onion rings and fries.

You won't be disappointed... American favorites with a Mediterranean flare! Constantly busy and very tasty food. Locally owned and operated. Staff are kind and laid back and genuinely ask "how did it taste?". If in Lubbock make plans to stop in for lunch.

No frills, fried food. It was the only place open on our road trip- it has that going for them.

A really good and clean Mom and Pop joint for burgers and gyros. Nothing fancy or over the top. Just good people making good food.

11June2026 I have been married to a Lubbock Native for 27…read moreyears now, and for all of this time, I have been hearing about Spanky's, just across from Texas Tech University. She has been hyping up this joint forever and during this trip to her hometown, we ended up there on our first night we were in town. On the outside, it looks like the typical university food joint that could be at any university town across America. It was small with a few tables and booths and had stuff across the walls that yelled TEXAS TECH RED RAIDERS so loud that it could be seen from the ISS. Apparently, the owner is a big fan and possibly an Alumna of TTU. We ordered the hand dipped mushrooms and onion rings to go along with our burgers. Little did I know what an experience the two appetizers would be. Lets just say that I have NEVER has such wonderful shrooms and rings ... ever. Thats saying something. The mushrooms are not the typical soft, mushy ones that many places serve out of the Sysco bags ... no, these were easily identifiable as button mushrooms even through the crispiness of the batter. Firm, sliceable and easily skewered by a fork to be dipped in ranch sauce. In short ... they were lip-smackin good. The onion rings, dipped in the same batter, cooked in the same oil and served at the same temperature were just as delectable. They were thick sliced sweet yellows that held their toothiness throughout the frying process. Just the bite into it was yummy, sweet and crispy ... all at the same time. These reminded me of the onion rings I used to get at Tookies down in Seabrook, Tx during the 70's and 80's. For my main, I chose the "Hotter than Hell Burger" with crinkle fries. I like hot and spicy and expected it to actually be hotter than it was. The sliced jalapeño and habanero spread were present and did the job of letting my taste buds know they were doing their job. It just wasn't the knockout I was expecting from a burger place serving university students that would eat really spicy stuff on a dare. Don't get me wrong, that burger was really good, just as my Wife said it would be. That statement is truth, not hype, but hotter than hell, naah. More like hotter than heck. My biggest disappointment was the limited selection of good beer. Light beer, cheap lagers and Mexican standards. Would it hurt to put in an IPA or a Stout? Overall, the staff were wonderful and answered any of the myriad of questions I had about their fare. It was an actual experience for me, especially after all of the hype my Wife told me over the decades. Usually, after a big span of time, places from our youth let us down. Spanky's is NOT a place like that. I will be sure to make it there on the next trip to Lubbock ... even if my Wife isn't with me. Ciao, Darrell

Blue Sky Texas was a decent burger place…read more There are two locations as of April 25, 2026 in Lubbock, TX. This one is on the north side of town close to Texas Tech University. The parking lot was packed. I had to park kind of near the smelly dumpster and an unsightly view of a trashy lake or pond. So when my daughters and I walked in, we were not greeted. We snaked around the long horizontal pole meant to form a line. The chick at the register did not to be in that position. She was not nice. Did not listen. Was not courteous. It took about 25 minutes for our food to be ready. Your receipt will show the same number that should pop up on the number readers either above the meal counter or in the dining room near a TV. Here's what we ordered: Green chile cheeseburger ($11.49) Cheeseburger mayo only ($10.99) Bacon cheeseburger with ketchup added ($12.99) Large fries ($4.99) Small fried jalapenos ($5.79) 2 regular fountain drinks (2 @ $2.89) The patties were fairly thick. My daughter received several pieces of bacon on her burger. She was happy about that. The green chile was definitely on the very mild side. I loved it, but the juices saturated my burger when I dumped the cup on there. Soggy burgers are not fun. My bad. I didn't count that against them. The fries were really good. The jalapenos had a kick! The Coca Cola was super flat. My daughter let me try it when I was shocked by her admission about it. Lol. The dining rooms can get a bit loud. I could not hear my kids half of the time. Felt like an old timer. But it could have been that we sat between the food counter where you pick up your food tray and the soda fountains. Congested! It was the only table available at the time! Still, the entire staff seemed a bit moody. I did not appreciate that. The restrooms were decently cleaned. Overall, though, I don't think I'll be back.
