Ordered a number one which I thought was a Jumbo Burger I do not know what is Jumbo Burger compared to a regular burger is there's no difference besides not enough lettuce not enough onions one slice of tomato one sliced pickle. Ordered a large order of tater tots and with that order I could put almost all of my tater tot's in a small bag that they provide for the french fries in there. The burger was delicious. One of the best I've had at a drive-in. The fries were adequate. Service was extraordinarily friendly and fast. I'm not a big tomato fan, but I sometimes get them on my burger for the nutritional content. These tomatoes were unusually tasty. It made me want to get tomatoes more often. I wish they had Heinz ketchup instead of French's ketchup. The taste difference is significant, and it's the only reason I give this place four stars instead of five. read more

Just a small, overpriced burger place trying to survive. They get all their business at lunch time from the pregnant girls high-school a block away. Last time I went I ordered the fries with gravy. It's a small to-go box with fries and gravy poured over them. They gave me fries with gravy flavored water poured all over them. Burgers are nothing special, shakes suck, and you wait forever to get you food. I get the feeling it's really dirty inside that little shack. Just go to Sonic. read more

I'm going to have to agree with the other reviewer...I stopped by for a fish sandwich and...well...I couldn't tell if it was the bun or the inside of the two over-sized fish sticks. I think the photo speaks for itself. I do like the old-style drive-in look of the place, but if the food is crappy, it might as well look like the Taj Mahal. Drive up under this shed thingie, and a there are a couple of picnic tables, too. (Too bad there isn't a "Nothing" selection for the category "Good for", and "Trailer Park" for "Ambience".) Oh, and the shakes? They *do* suck. "Overpriced" with only one dollar sign should tell you something, too. read more

This place is a real gem. Bring cash. We thoroughly enjoy EVERYTHING on the menu. Almost everything on the menu can be made bigger to order. You get the size you pay for and the menu you will tell you the size in the burgers. Everything is very fairly priced. Also the service is very friendly. Try the chili cheese burger. I think Daniel is correct about the Jim Dandy being a small business that is trying to survive. Every small, locally owned business in Lubbock is just getting by with our current economy. That's about all I can agree with. I think that the Jim Dandy Drive In is by far the best burger joint in town. Since they are right down the street from my shop, I eat there atleast twice a week. I've been going there for the last two years and have never had a bad experience. Their prices are much better that a lot of other burger places I have been to in Lubbock. I have always had very fast, and friendly service. When I am really in a rush, I call in my order and it is ready as soon as I get there. I have also seen the inside of the kitchen before because I helped Mrs. Neely carry in boxes of french fries from her car. It was very clean, and organized. I value that it has been family owned and operated for over 40 years. I think everyone can appreciate a business that knows it's customers by name. read more
