Ordered the chicken salad sandwich and received a single small scoop of chicken salad in the middle of each half, not spread out just the scoop, I'm not sure what has happened but the chicken salad I was ordering isn't on the menu anymore so it's just sandwich only now and the flavor is gone. Before it was smoked and was amazing. Disappointed for sure. Desert wasn't any better had the chocolate pie and it was granulated sugar not creamy as advertised or as in the past. Guess that's the key because this place was amazing in the past. My wife had the frito pie and it was double scoop Fritos with very very little chili right on top and the chili was not good. I'm so disappointed and really dislike negative reviews but it's what it is. I'm reluctant to go back and try the steak fingers they even looked different. I will return just to prove my theory wrong or perhaps it was just a bad day with a lazy cook. First trip here. It was Tuesday, when they have a burger special that includes house cut fries and a cookie. I had the green chili cheeseburger with an added slice of tomato. I also tried my wife's hamburger, which had grilled jalapeños and onions with an over easy egg and reaper cheese. Both burgers were cooked perfectly and had some heat, but not too much. The fries had been sitting for a while but still tasted great. Lots of stuff to look at while you're there and our server was friendly and prompt. I have to admit that this restaurant is less than pretentious, but every time I've tried it the food was excellent, especially the catfish. The service is excellent and friendly. The only problem I have noted is that the access for handicapped people in wheelchairs is not very good from parking to entry into the restaurant. This is the limiting factor for me and other handicapped people. Otherwise I would patronize this restaurant much more frequently. read more

Solid burger and onion rings today at All American Eatery. I had the Tim Tadlow burger with chorizo, fresh grilled jalapeños and onions, and a fried egg on a jalapeño cheddar bun with onion rings on the side. Burger was hot off the grill and all the flavors worked together nicely. IMO their sweet tea was way too sweet, so I asked for half and half and that was much better. I had the lunch special and the food was average. The brown gravy was from a packet and the veggies were canned and not fresh. The roll was good. People who know my posts know that I like to go to places that are out-of-the-way and check local eateries not the stuff that's of corporate so today I came and checked out this little place called the American Eatery and Catering company. This place was pretty darn awesome. When you walk into the place, you instantly get the vibes of West Texas barbecue restaurant or West Texas service station eatery. It has its coffee counter center room is filled with tables and lining one wall is two seater booths the decor has the galvanized walls and the galvanized bar front and open kitchen window and it's decorated in a 1950s fashion it has old 1950 toys hanging from the ceiling and it looks very late 40s early 50s welcoming home the troops type restaurant. The minute I walked in I had a seat the minute I sat. I had a server. She was amazing. Very friendly, outgoing and attentive. I would have to say everybody here was smiles and happy. There wasn't a frowning face in the whole place. The service was quick and friendly. I made my order and within 10 minutes my food was at the table. It was a nice sized portion with a cheeseburger and some onion rings and a Coke to drink. The burger was made wonderfully, well seasoned and it comes with everything a burger should have;like pickles, lettuce, onions, and tomatoes and you got your choice of mustard and mayonnaise as well. It was a well cooked,flavorful juicy burger, the bun was firm, not soggy. The onion rings were crisp cooked well, when you bit into them the onion didn't slide out and leave you with just a husk of crispy cover. You actually got both ring and crispy cover. I would say if you're a local resident and don't know if this place you should try it. If you're traveling through and you're hungry, this is worth a stop. And if you're from the local towns around this place a little drive out for a Sunday lunch here wouldn't be out of the question. I would say overall this is a very good hidden gem. read more

Abel makes some of the best burgers and sandwiches you can get. I had the triple club, and if you're worried about getting your money's worth, it had actual SLABS of turkey and ham in it. SLABS. The stuffed jalapeño appetizers rocked. My wife had the steak fingers and said they were great. The tiny bite she shared with me was enough for me to know she was correct. We had breakfast at All American Eatery with friends who were in town visiting family. I can honestly say that this was the best breakfast any one of the six of us has ever purchased anywhere. It may very well be the best breakfast I've ever eaten. The huevos rancheros, migas and short stack with eggs and ham did not disappoint. The pancakes have crispy edges with a soft, sweet, pillowy interior and are served with melted butter. They are so good on their own that the syrup is definitely optional! The huevos rancheros with salsa, grilled fresh jalapeños and onions and 2 eggs with refried beans and diced potatoes hit the spot. I didn't taste the migas but was told that they were also very good. The food was cooked as ordered expertly by chef and establishment owner, Abel. Brittany is usually our server and is fantastic but she was not working on this visit. We were not surprised that the service by Desiree (sp?) was impeccable, as well. After our meal, Abel served us a chicken fried biscuit with green chilis, bacon and gravy to try and YUM! My friends and I have eaten at All American Eatery for lunch many times and always love it, but this breakfast was crazy good. Thus far, they only serve breakfast on Friday and Saturday morning beginning at 8am and are not overly busy. This is one place in town where you can still enjoy conversation and really great food.
