Sadly this is my last visit to Lucy's Salon. Two days ago I made an appointment for 130pm for today and I came on time. When I came in, Lucy greeted me and asked if I was ready and I said I was. Jokingly I asked if she was ready and she said yes. As we were headed to the shampoo area, another customer came in and Lucy told her she'd be right there and then said to me that she would quickly do this other customer and then come see me. I reminded Lucy that I had an appointment, but then I said OK I'll wait. After I sat down, Lucy took the other customer back to the shampoo area and began shampooing her hair. Having thought it over I decided to leave, and I let Lucy know. I realize this is not the first time this happened to me here. I do like the way Lucy cuts my hair, but I don't like being bumped by other people. I don't know if that woman was double booked or whether she was a walk-in, but either way it shouldn't have happened the way it did. If Lucy was running late, she should've called me and told me and we could've made other arrangements. But that didn't happen and she didn't call me after I left so I will sadly have to find another place to get my haircut. read more

Wanted a quick hair cut that didn't cost as much as most salons do for women. Especially when all I want is a trim and I don't think I should be spending $40-60 just to get an inch off my hair. There's this place near my home that only costs $20 that I went to once, but they aren't open on weekends, plus I didn't feel like the lady did much for my trim (I asked her to thin out my thick hair, which she didn't) and I left feeling like she didn't get all the shampoo out of my hair. SO this time around, I found Lucy and saw she was open on weekends and when I called on Friday to get my haircut the next day, she was easily able to fit me in around the time I wanted to come. I always hate when the hairdresser asks when my last cut was, and I used to go every 3 months, but once I started to try and grow my hair out, I found that my hair grows very slowly and it was never gonna grow if I regularly went to trim my hair. So Lucy asked, and I was honest and told her it had been a year, expecting her to be like others and scold me for waiting so long, but she was the exact opposite! She told me my hair was real healthy and that a year is perfect to wait to get my hair trimmed. I instantly was more relaxed with her and knew she'd be my new hairdresser right away. I told her I wanted my hair thinned out, and she did just that, plus added some layers so I could have some texture to my hair. Everyone who came in conversing with Lucy (goes by Lu), and the other hairdresser you could fill well tell that they were regulars! They all joked and brought up stuff that you know they knew each other/they've talked about it in the past. When I left, Lucy did not hesitate to say she will see me next year (rather than in a few months). And all this only cost $17! I could not recommend Lucy enough! I had a favorite hair stylist when I lived in San Diego who was also Asian and then when I used to work near Ellicott City, I also went to an Asian hair salon. And now I've got Lucy! In my opinion, Asians are the best with hair and I am so glad to now have a hairstylist I'll regularly go to so close to home. read more

What a pleasant experience. Lucy fit me in the same day. She was friendly and knowledgeable; she said she's been cutting hair for 32 years. The place was clean, although no frills. This is not a high end, spa kind of place. I actually loved that; it's a warm, welcoming, neighborhood place. Repeat customers were coming in the whole time I was there, and now I will be one of them. Lucy made sure to give me the exact cut I wanted, and when she had to cut off more than anticipated to fix some wonky layers, she asked me first and showed me exactly what the issue was. My hair has natural wave, which can make some layers lay funny if not cut just right. The layers Lucy gave me flow together so well. I let my hair dry naturally and the style just falls right in place. To top it off, her prices are more than reasonable. Go there! You won't regret it. read more

I went and got my hair cut with her multiple times. Normally it turned out great and Lucy's always takes time to make sure that I'm happy the way I look. However, this is probably the last time I'm going to get my hair cut from her because of her poor customer service. I didn't like the way it turn out like usual and it seems like I'm annoying her so I wouldn't go back to get it fix with her anymore. New to the area and tried out this salon after a few others in the area were completely booked over the weekend. Lu, the owner, did partial highlights and a haircut and the results were incredible! I usually go to Aveda salons, because I have always found them to be consistent, but Lu did an equal or better job and her prices are about half that of other salons in the area. Don't be discouraged by the fact that it's in a strip mall. This may be one of the best kept secrets in this town! read more

I just found my new regular barber/hair cut place (close to home also, I needed a cut and decided to try). I wanted to find a place where I can get the same person to cut my hair the same way! Easier said than done. My prior regular place (a franchise) close by closed. I got tired of the commercial franchises because I could not get the same person again when I got a good hair cut...always hit or miss (depending on who was there) - the gimmick places, coupons, punch cards etc.. I also went to a barber close by and he could not cut my hair correctly (did not know a cut with a #4 trim setting), not the first time this happened. I saw Lucy's, did not look to fancy, a "independent business" close by so I gave it a try. The owner understood exactly how I wanted my hair cut, so I let her cut it and she did a perfect job! A few dollars more than I usually spend, but worth it, besides only done every few months. I am much happier supporting a "LOCAL independent business" that understands a quality CONSISTENT service is what I have been looking for. I will be back!
