Turns out I was wrong: I tried it on, but it ended up being a lot more expensive than I'd realized, and it didn't fit beneath my engagement ring the way I'd hoped it would. I figured that I'd keep it on the back burner in case I didn't find anything else, but I couldn't see myself going that far outside of my budget for a ring that I wasn't 100% happy with. A friend convinced me to stop by Macha with her a couple of weeks later, and I'm SO glad that I did! Bernice's curved band was exactly the style that I was looking for, was much more affordable, and best of all, could be custom made to sit perfectly beneath my engagement ring. It also had a much quicker turnaround time than the first ring I'd tried on, which meant that I wasn't rushed into a decision (although it was pretty much a no-brainer at that point!) A few days later, I dropped my engagement ring off with Bernice for the weekend and she got started on my band immediately. It came out even better than I could've imagined, and the whole process went quickly and smoothly -- the only hard part was hiding the ring away until my wedding day! Unfortunately, the new ring did not meet the same quality standards and craftsmanship of the first one. It had a brushed finish, whereas I prefer polished, but the main problems were that the diamonds sank into the metal, creating an uneven surface, making the diamonds unnoticeable; the beads were mushy, ununified and overall, the execution was very low. Sadly, the company refused to acknowledge these very noticeable differences (they stood firmly by their work and wanted me to send it back to them only so they could polish it). I reached out to Steven Kirsch and he was able to meet with me the same day. He immediately noticed the differences in the quality of the work between the two rings. When I dropped off the faulty ring the next day, he said the repair would be ready the following week, but I was notified two days later that it was finished. When he presented the repaired ring, I was amazed by the transformation - he had fixed all of the problems so it was flawless and everything I could have wished for! Based on my experience, Steven Kirsch is the ultimate professional jeweler who takes great care and pride in his work and will not disappoint. Steven is an exceptional artist, and Sandra is super helpful and nice. Steven helped us source the diamond, and made the engagement ring and bands for us. They spent so much time with us helping us design the ring and you could tell that Steven is a true artist and really takes into account your lifestyle needs when designing the ring. The customer service is also exceptional. When my fiancées band came a little loose (is actually my fiancées fault because we flew in to see Steven and his finger was swollen from the airplane ride) he offered to take it back and Mail it to us at no additional charge. I also want to note that it's not THAT expensive. You're really paying for the quality here and in my opinion it's a steal compared to some of the shoddy quality work that brand names (de beers, tiffanys etc) charge much higher prices for.
