We stopped by at this place for some Filipino dish. I had gotten Christine's feast which comes with rice, pansit, 2 pork skewers, 2 lumpia, and the filipino soup that they offer. It was okay, I wish it had more flavor to it. But most if it were kind of dry but still good. I wished they had more options with the filipino dishes, but they also serve a lot of American food. Gordon Ramsey specifically says that one should not go to someplace that has 40 different cuisines. Sadly, he is correct in this case. We tried three of their top recommended dishes- the egg rolls, the pot roast, and the chorizo chicken. The egg rolls- the pictures do not look like the product. I was hoping for lumpia. I got cheap wonton wrappers with flavorless ground beef. The pot roast looks as described. It's a standard meat and three entree. Not bad, not good. Decent presentation. It was the highlight of the meal. The chorizo chicken is an abomination. It's standard "Mexican" rice, dry chicken, and what I am 99% certain to be ground beef and not chorizo. Chorizo has a specific flavor and color. The dish I received did not have that at all. I guess the cheese dip was pretty good. I had so much hope for this place, but I am sorely disappointed. I should have known better.. The food was delivered, warm still, but packaging could also have been improved as there was a pool of something in the bottom of the bag. read more

I hate to leave a bad review but I was far from impressed with my experience at Christine's. I have to preface this by saying that I specifically came here to celebrate a special event with some family. It also happened to be a Friday during Lent so we all were going be adhering to a meat-free diet. Perfect, I thought, since Christine's has a really great list of fish: tilapia, salmon, grouper, etc. While Christine's isn't the fanciest ambiance (it's in an old Pizza Hut building), we were willing to spend a bit more due to the dietary and celebratory context of the meal. The major issue I had revolved around how an allergy mix up was handled. I'm celiac and have to adhere to a strict gluten free diet, which I mentioned upfront as the waitress took our orders. After eating the entree, I ordered a side of fries. When they arrived, I tried one, and immediately knew they were not just plain potatoes - there was a flaky coating that set off an alarm bell for me. Before continuing eating, I again questioned her (as I had before, regarding many of the dishes being open for gluten free substitutions; it was pretty clear I was dealing with a major allergy here). She didn't know and went back to check. Of course, after the initial issue, she found they were seasoned with a breading-like shell which contained wheat flour. I was displeased in how things were handled from this point onward. I was annoyed that the waitress, instead of admitting fault, apologizing or just being pleasant in general, actually tried to deny being at all aware that I had an allergy! To add insult to injury, she asked if I wanted a replacement item (fair it seems) to which I politely declined...only to still be charged for the fries. I think the worst part was, as the check arrived, she said, "yeah sorry about that before, none of our cooks speak English." Again, a statement like this accepts no responsibility as the front-end representative of the business: it just shifts the blame to others. I am sure that mine is not the typical experience here: I'd encourage you to come and try for yourself. Christine's just isn't my type of place. read more

My husband and I have driven past Christine's many, many times but never stopped in to dine. Until now. Christine's seems to be a very popular, busy place. Despite the large volume of customers, our service was very quick and friendly. The menu has a great variety of choices and the adult beverage menu is pretty good too. I enjoyed a glass of the Riesling. For dinner, I ordered the Crab Cakes and Shrimp dinner with green beans and fried cabbage. My husband ordered the Chicken a la Chorizo, which I also got to sample. Both dishes were flavorful and really delicious. I'm disappointed, though, that we didn't order any egg rolls. Other reviewers have raved about them and I'm dying to try one. Ah, well. Something to look forward to during our next visit. And I can promise that we will definitely be back! Finally, we topped off our meal by sharing a delectable slice of Brownie Cheesecake. Need I say more? What's most unique about Christine's is the menu diversity. You're sure to find something to fit everyone's tastes. They even have a kids' menu. Ever since we learned about Christine's here on the West Side we have been big fans of the food, the drinks, and the hardest-working woman in the business, Christine. My boyfriend is Filipino and I'm honorary (visited the country 3 times) so we love getting our fill of lumpia (egg rolls) and pancit (noodles). I would love to see even more Filipino choices on the menu, but where is the room?! They have everything from burgers to Italian to Mexican...and they keep adding more treats. The new location looks great and is even closer to our house, so now that the world is getting back to normal I'm sure we'll be there even more often for happy hour and more. read more

Everyone always raves about this place, so we decided to give it a try. First off, English is obviously not our waitress's first language and there were quite a few times where there were communication issues. Employing a person who has such a poor grasp of the language, when that's literally most of their job is a poor decision. The menu is diverse, but that's not necessarily a good thing. When a menu is all over the place like that, then you know they're not known for anything specific and everything will just be ok. As suspected, everything we ordered was just ok. Nothing stood out as good or bad, it was just average food. The spices are very odd in some things, like the tacos. I can only describe it as someone who has never had texmex tried to season ground beef based on what someone told them. I've been waiting to go to Christines for sometime now as Yelp reviews have given this place high hopes. We had lunch here and were very happy with our experience. I love supporting local family businesses. The owner was working along with the other staff as you could tell she cared about her place. Since I've never had classic Philippine dishes before, I had the pork adobo. It was very flavorful and delicious. I started out my meal with the chicken wings with sweat and sour sauce. They were good, but I prefer fried wings over baked. Next time I'll have to order their Philippine egg rolls as they looked delicious. I miss lumpia soooooooo much! Since I moved to the mid west, I haven't found any Filipino Food. So when I found this place, I decided we needed to make the 2 hour drive to eat here. Unfortunately we stopped at Finlay Market first and we hadn't prepared to buy a bunch of meat and didn't want to leave it in the car so we ordered the lumpia Eggrolls and the vegetable appetizer that included cheese coated fried pickles, onion rings, mushrooms and cauliflower. Walking in.......the place was packed for lunch which was a good sign. The menu is pretty basic, but offers a lot of Americanized fusion items and has a full bar. This place looks like it may have been a lounge at one point. For the price I paid, I expected to get 5 small skimpy rolls. Boy was I wrong!! I think I got 8 huge, fat, meaty and packed rolls!! We could have had that and split a salad. I only ordered the veggies because I didn't think they were going to be enough. If you are not familiar with lumpia......it's porky goodness mixed with cabbage, carrots, garlic and wonderful spices all mixed into an eggroll. ‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍ Their dipping sauce for both were AMAZING for both items we got. We ordered catering from Christine's for 20 people. We worked directly with the owner, Christine, and she was an absolute delight. She prepared a traditional Filipino plate with soup, pork skewers, egg rolls and rice noddles. She also added beef tacos for the unadventurous and vegetarian fajitas for our vegetarians. Everything was well marked. Hot dishes were hot, cold were cold. The team helped me load my car and everything was well packaged The pork skewers were the star- very well seasoned The egg rolls were delicious; their sauce was outstanding- maybe had a hint of green tea? Tons of great food here. Been coming once every week or two for months, and still hooked on the chimichanga- blows every Mexican restaurant in Cincinnati out of the water. I've had several of the Philippine dishes which are all tasty- especially recommend getting the pancit as a side dish with you meal, though I really like the Mac and cheese and mashed potatoes and gravy too, and haven't had any sides that I didn't like. The fried fish is average, but have a few preparations and fish choices which is nice if that's what you are in the mood for. Meatloaf is homemade as really good, and the pot roast is solid diner style and quality. The mozzarella sticks are really good here as well. CHIMICHANGAS ARE LIFE HERE. Also- they have a really cool Philippine dessert that involves purple yam ice cream, coconut, corn flakes, and about 30 other things. Maybe not something you'd get every time, but a really unique, fun, and apparently authentic dessert that's worth giving a try. read more

Let me start this review by saying that I do NOT go to the west side. It's too far away, and everything I want I can get in OTR, where I live. Or so I thought. I had no idea what I was missing! Christine's was suggested by a friend, and we all met there for dinner. The menu is definitely eclectic, with traditional American meals like pot roast and hamburgers, and Filipino options like Pancit and barbecue. We tried a little of a lot in order to get a real idea for what Christine's was like, and OH MY GOD IT WAS ALL AMAZING. the meatloaf was perfect, just like your mom made. The bbq was delightfully crispy on the outside but moist and flavorful. The server was awesome, the prices were reasonable. Omg Omg Omggg I was looking for a place that served meatloaf close to my moms (you already know nobody compares to mamas meatloaf ) and Christine's surpassed my expectations I'm still in shock No one has ever made meatloaf better than my mom but I may say Christine's meatloaf is pretty up there ! I got the meatloaf with a side of mashed potatoes and gravy and macaroni and cheese Wasn't really a fan of the gravy whatsoever but hey to each their own , what I might not like another person may enjoy ! It was a little sweet and salty for me but the mashed potatoes alone paired with the meatloaf! Perfect ! And they give you just the right amount The macaroni and cheese blew me away I haven't had a decent macaroni in the Cincinnati area until now ! I couldn't stop eating it and kept wanting more I am definitely coming back just for the meatloaf and Mac alone Amazinggggg I tried the all star special which let me say Christine knows what she's doing ! The all star is a chicken and shrimp mixed with rice and queso and it's REALLY good A Spanish staple at most Mexican restaurants and it was done to perfection, definitely knows Latin cuisine well based on this dish I look forward to trying other dishes since Christine's has a variety of everything Highly recommended!
