We have been wanting to try this Deli for quite sometime. We picked up and brought in last week and it was really good. Stopped there again yesterday and tried 2 other of their amazing sandwiches. They were delicious and the staff was phenomenal. Friendly , outgoing and actually a pleasure to chat w while we waited for our sandwiches. We stopped in around 10:00 AM to grab a sandwich on our way to the beach. Unfortunately, our experience wasn't very welcoming. When we entered, loud rap music was playing, which felt a bit out of place for the atmosphere. To their credit, they quickly changed it to some reggae island-style music, which felt more fitting for the setting. We greeted the employee with a friendly "Good morning," but the response felt indifferent, and we got the impression that our presence was more of an inconvenience than appreciated. We weren't expecting anything extraordinary--just a warm greeting and basic customer service. Hawaii is known for its hospitality, so this experience was disappointing. On top of that, the sandwich was very basic for the price. At $18, we expected better quality and value. Based on both the service and the cost, we definitely wouldn't recommend this place and will likely choose another option next time. read more

This place was around the corner from our condo when on the Big Island, It had good reviews so I thought I would try it. This small unassuming spot is a grab n go with no seating. They are NY deli in Hawaii Sandwiches are big and they also have a case with sides such as coleslaw, Mac salad and chips, you can find some desserts too like macadamia not caramel tart, lilikoi macadamia tart. The soup this day was minestrone and if I had another day I would have tried the lasagne! I had an open face tuna melt that can easily feed two people. The shop was manned by one person and it got busy fast and the other ladies came in to help. The melt was great, tuna was made with sweet pickle, celery, onion, carrot and I'd venture to day a lil fresh dill (maybe) .. the sandwich is placed in a countertop oven to brown bread and melt the cheese. Amazing Italian sub and macaroni salad. Fresh baked goods today were lemon bars, cheesecake brownie and chantilly cake slice. I got the brownie but was so full from my hoagie I have it waiting. Service was fantastic with the lady making the sandwiches doing her best to answer phones for to go orders and also putting out high quality food. It's small but a perfect spot for a deli. Close to the beach so you can grab and go but it did get a little wet from the dressing but I was fine. For picky folks they may want dressing on the side or none of not eating in awhile. was looking for some sandwiches to take on our flight back to the mainland and researched this lil deli also having a double expresso at coffee shop next door. The sandwich maker behind the counter made up a couple of them, an NY Italian w dressing side and a turkey, as we chatted about all sorts of topics (new jersey origins, passionately vocal hilo surfers, no hawaiian body type shame, importing homeless from colorado, living in Hi, etc). Grabbed lunch to go on our time shares recommendation. Staff and owner were both very polite and engaging. Food was delicious! My husband had a huge tuna melt, I had a veggie sub sandwich which made 2 meals for me as it was giant! We tried the macaroni salad - everything was a hit! If I could this deli 10 stars I would. Wowser is this place delicious! They support local vendors who use local ingredients whenever possible. I've been in Kona a little over a week and have already been here 3 times. I called in to place order and went and ate my sandwich at the beach! Can't beat that. Staff was super friendly!! Deli was right up the road from where we were staying. The 2 ladies working were very nice and gave us some local recommendations. We had the Rueben and pastrami (special) sandwiches. Both were sooo friggin good. We each had the Minestrone soup....that was awesome. we had the Scandinavian tater salad....another hit. It was highly recommended. I had the Pastrami n very dessapointing..cant even taste the Mustard or the meat. Sandwich had more lettuce tomatoes n Jalapeno n onion. The front staff was not very friendly, maybe bec i got there 30 min before closing. I asked if she could not put onion n she was not happy about that. Tried this place hoping their salads would be good for me to put in my regular places to hit for a quick lunch...NOT as I live in Kailua. First, the person taking orders and cashing people out people never said hi but looked at you in a sarcastic way and rude in my opinion. I ordered a Greek salad and it was the smallest Greek salad I have ever seem I be a lunch salad. It was more like a side salad for 9bucs. You know in one of those small plastic clear containers. I also bought a bag of specialty Hawaii made cereal and a bottle water. For the order I waited 30 minutes I kid you not. I will say there was an order before me that had four sandwiches and the other two orders in front of me was one sandwich each order. Come in they are a sandwich place they should be able to turn out orders faster than that. The order of four sandwiches i oils tell the people were getting very frustrated, rolling their eyes in their head. Apparently they've been standing there while waiting for their sandwiches. The food is fairly good, but the preparation is disconcerting. The person that ran the register then used her hands to put lettuce on a bun, then took slices of cheese apart, again with her bare hands, without cleaning them. After a while, she put one glove on, a little later a second. Then, between continuing touching food, she lifted up her pants a few times, then used a pen around her neck to mark packaging, and again touched food. Almost refused to take my order. read more
