Pizza and service was good. We ordered a thin crust pizza (+$3) and it was tasty to the bone. Cheese crust baked to crispy. We liked it! When we got the bill we were puzzled to see a line for "operational cost (5%), which was not noted on the menu or anywhere, added as a line item before subtotal. So, this is not a CC processing fee... We didn't like these mystery fee slipped right in to the receipt. What a disappointment.... It left a weird taste in our mouth after a fairly good pizza.

Decided to order pizza to go for an easy first night in Kona after lots of travel. I was pleasantly surprised at how good the pizza here came out, though there weren't too many places to choose from without driving far out and this once was highly recommended by multiple sources. I got a half rooster, half garden island pizza and loved the combination. The crust was doughy, yet crispy, unlike the stereotypical undercooked Papa Johns. The BBQ chicken and artichoke side by side was delicious and I appreciated how many vegetables were actually on it, not just a bunch of olives and peppers.

The Greek $23.45 dollar salad + plus tip = $27.00. Judge for yourself the photo. The salad does not taste like used to taste . The honey vinaigrette dressing does not have any flavor. I am glad I didn't ask for any protein because that would have been a $50 salad. The salad is the size of a quart Ziploc bag. The new owners just came to cause damage to this famous and landmark Kona restaurant and took away the authentic Italian flavor of the food. Shame on the new owners.

Not sure why the reviews are so bad, we had a great experience! Good food, friendly waitress! No complaints here!

Overpriced for something that tastes like a frozen microwave meal..... husband and I sat down and ordered our meals. His came out but mine did not, we were told there was a problem with my chicken burning so it came out about 20 minutes after my husband had gotten his food. I asked for mine to go now as we had been waiting a while already. Came home and opened my to go box..... and this is the outcome. However, I give my star to the cook who was nice enough to tell us to have a good night as we were walking out!

Ravenous and throat parched, the pictures for The Temple drew us in. Restaurant was empty save a family of 6 sitting in the corner. To summarize the experience the food tasted as delicious as it looked. Service was spot on. Skip the barbecue chicken tacos they were overrated. Our server warned against it but we were feeling chicken. It was a mid dish. The star of the show was the Calabrese Flatbread. It was phenomenal. Really tasty, ample cheese, marinara sauce, with large chunks of sausage that were so flavorful. The potatoes we got were supposed to be island potatoes and tasted okay with lots of Chimmichuri Sauce. Ask for more on the side to dip the potatoes in. Kona beer on tap, Michelob in bottles, and some nice house drinks to round it off. Their dessert selection looked tasty, but so full that stomach was hurting after the meal. Will be back again if I'm in the area!

The menu isn't huge, but it offered several dishes that appealed to us. When our server came to take our order, we asked if we could order happy hour drinks since it was still happy hour. We were told that happy hour pricing is only available if you're seated at the bar. We had the option of staying at our table and paying regular price for drinks or moving to the bar to receive the happy hour pricing. We chose to move to the bar. While we gave up some of the privacy of the table, the view was just as beautiful. My wife and I shared the Caesar salad and the Spaghetti Bolognese with burrata, and both were excellent. The Caesar salad was fresh, crisp, and flavorful. The spaghetti was cooked perfectly, the sauce tasted fresh with quality tomatoes, and the burrata was a great addition. We also enjoyed happy hour mojitos, which were refreshing and very well made. In fact, we enjoyed the restaurant enough that we returned the following day. Since it wasn't happy hour and we weren't ordering drinks, we chose to sit at a table and had another great meal. Overall, Kai's Eats + Drinks offers great food, excellent cocktails, and beautiful bay views. The only surprise was that happy hour drink pricing is limited to bar seating, but once we knew that, it wasn't a big issue. We'd definitely recommend it and would happily dine here again.

Pro tip: When you make your reservation, ask for a table with a view. Otherwise, you might find yourself in the "VIP section"... which apparently stands for Very Important Passageway--right by the exit. We started with the hot wings, and wow... the house-made sauces were fantastic. They had just the right balance of flavor and heat without overpowering the wings. The real stars, though, were the handmade Italian noodles. You can tell the chef puts genuine care into every sauce--each one tasted thoughtfully crafted, full of personality, and made with a lot of love. We paired them with an Italian Chianti that was a pleasant surprise from their modest but well-chosen wine list. It was an excellent match for the pasta. That said, I kept eyeing the Rutherford Cabernet and now wish I'd gone for the big Cab! The bread was a little on the stale side, but the excellent olive oil helped redeem it.
