    Açaí bowl

We wanted Açaí bowls and Journey Cafe showed up so we went there. There is only one Acai Bowl option on their menu and it was sugary sweet. The cafe itself is decorated very bohemian- super cute decor. They do have other food options but we went there specifically for the açaí bowl. I may go back and try something else another time but def not what I was hoping for this time.

Been eating a lot of meat and starch ever since I landed on the big island so I decided to make the healthy choice of eating at Journeys. Had the Asian salad. It was tasty and refreshing. The parking in the back was pricy so you want to just park on the street.

So good ! Stumbled upon this place unexpected and it was so delicious. Everything is vegan and the taste is amazing. The place also gave me practical magic vibes. Definitely check this place out. Also they gave me a sample of their vegan Ube ice cream and by gas the best I have had !

FOOD: I got the tacos and they were so very good!! So much flavor! I'm not vegan or vegetarian, but I love to try any food and really enjoyed this! My sister and cousin loved the meals they got as well. SERVICE: The girl at the counter who helped us was so friendly and nice! She answered any questions we had. AMBIANCE: So relaxing and cozy! Love the small touches from the lighting above the counter to the shelf filled with games. Great place to come hang out and have a good meal! I will definitely come back here if I make a trip back to Kona.

It's definitely pricey but we loved everything we tried and came here multiple times during our trip . The portion sizes are generous and you get refillable ice tea with every entree. Service was from and warm and ambience is super cozy and beautiful boho vibe. Would highly recommend even if you aren't vegan or vegetarian as it's super delicious.

Yummy food and wonderful service but pricey. Main items are over 20 usd per dish. But so worth it. And their soft serve with dragon fruit is tart and ono. Vanilla with macadamia was also happy in the tummy. We would definitely come again for brunch

I appreciate that this place has a lot of vegan and gluten free options. The staff was very nice and super friendly and the place is small but has some outdoor seating and is nicely decorated. Also some plants add to the decor. That said I was rather underwhelmed with my dish. I had intended to order the poke nachos and ended up with the bowl. Similar ingredients though. I just wasn't a fan of the teriyaki watermelon poke. If I get the chance to go back I'd try something different. The rest of the ingredients were fresh and tasty. I'd suggest giving it a try if you're in the area.

The watermelon tofu poke bowl is super delicious!!! Loved the flavors blending well. We also got a sample of their strawberry dragonfruit vegan ice cream and vanilla vegan ice cream!! They also give you a drink free with an entree. The lavender almond milk tea is yum!! The Fiesty tacos have vegan meat and chickpeas in them and tasted just okay.

The food here at Journey's Café is undeniably delicious, healthy, tasty and they make the best chocolate chip cookies. The workers here named Lyric and Anjila are so very helpful. They are so Happy and make you feel right at home. You need to try the best delicious homemade ice cream non-dairy made with cashew milk. Anjila is so amazing. This is one of our new favorite spots..

Found a plant-based restaurant that is really worth the visit! Set in a quiet alleyway, Journey was bustling the whole evening. Staff were working so hard and they all seemed to really take pride in their cafe, guaranteeing a great experience for each visitor. Our meals all came with 3 refills at their tea bar - hibiscus tea, guava lemonade and a lavender taro milk tea. We had fun trying them all and throughly enjoyed the different flavors. We had poke bowls, poke nachos and the feisty tacos. The poke bowl was the true hit of the evening - the watermelon was marinated and truly had the texture and flavor that is often found with ahi in a poke bowl. Give it a try!!

The shakes are very good, not too sweet. The service is awesome! Very kind and fast! The restaurant is full of plants inside and out, it feels very homey and comfy :)

My wife and I are in Hawaii for the first time, and this little cafe caught our eye on both yelp and the googly site. We decided to check it out first lunch, and we are so glad we did! The indoor seating is cozy and simple, but very comfortable. Feels like being outdoors in nature. The food is amazing and the smoothies were the best we've ever had anywhere! The woman who was operating the cafe that afternoon was really friendly and helpful as well. Top notch food, service and environment.

Journey Cafe Big Island is an absolute gem! From the moment you step through the lush, plant-draped entrance, the atmosphere is a complete vibe if you just think enchanted garden meets cozy island sanctuary, with twinkling lights, fresh flowers, and that perfect blend of rustic charm and tropical serenity. It's the kind of place that instantly puts you in vacation mode, even if you're local. The food? Next level. I ordered the Loco Moco and it was hands-down one of the best I've ever had! It was juicy, locally sourced beef, perfectly cooked rice, rich gravy, and that dreamy egg on top, all made with ingredients so fresh you can taste the aloha in every bite. My bestfriend got the Pesto & Gravy Omelette, and let me tell you, the combo of creamy pesto, savory gravy, and fluffy eggs was pure genius. We were both speechless and that's says something since we're always working and talking. Huge shoutout to owners Jen and Sam--they're absolutely crushing it. You can feel their passion in every detail, from the handcrafted menu to the warm, genuine hospitality. This isn't just a cafe; it's a love letter to organic, local food and good vibes. If you're on the Big Island, do yourself a favor and make the journey to Journey Cafe. Five stars isn't enough this place is magic!

Tenkatori bills itself as a Japanese style fried chicken, our only other choice in the food court was Mexican (Philippino place wasn't open) so we were open to try. Tenkatori did not disappoint-ordered bento chicken-one was tater tot bento, other was rice and chicken bento, with wasabi and yuzu sauces. Bento came with four softball sized pieces of boneless chicken thighs hot out of the fryer, so fresh and juicy, the juices were literally squirting out between bites. Dipped in the creamy wasabi sauce-great flavor without the head-numbing experience. Yuzu was also creamy, not acidic like lemon, just the real deal. Btw both sauces good with tater tots, but they give you ketchup too. Quite the find, in a quiet marketplace on a stormy Sunday Tenkatori lives up to its ratings. Will be back!

Hesitation was instilled once I realized it was part of a random food court kind of in the middle of nowhere but did not count it out completely. 3. Disregarded as there seemed to be potentially better options out there for our meal choices. 4. Enjoy our other meal option. 5. Per chance, happen to swing by this food court per request of a family member in hopes of grabbing some Malasadas in the bakery nearby afterwards. 6. Realizing that we stumbled into the food court anyways, it was fated that we were meant to proceed with placing an order for some chicken. 7. After a short wait for food to be prepared, I'd confirm that the fried chicken is solid, tater tots were good as well, and the mac salad was just okay.

The tour itself is fantastic and educational if you want to learn the actual science and craft behind beer brewing. A major highlight of the experience is discovering that this specific brewery brews exclusively for the islands, keeping production local rather than shipping it out for mainland distribution. It gives the entire visit a truly authentic, exclusive feel. What truly elevated the entire experience from great to unforgettable, though, was our tour guide, Dave. Whether you know him as "Dave the coffee man," "the man," "Dave the heavy pour guy," or "the Costco rotisserie 4.99," he is hands-down the best tour guide ever. As far as the food and drinks, I actually enjoy Kona Brewery's beer more than Maui Brewing Co. I lean towards IPAs and Hazy IPAs but tried a flight which included a double IPA and a blonde and all were enjoyable. The food and service was just okay. I think we wanted something along the idea of French fries but was told that there is no fryer here so that threw us off a little. Especially when we thought we saw portobello fries online as an option from perhaps a different Kona Brewery restaurant menu. Our food orders included Kohala pizza, poke bowl, fish taco, and a cheeseburger. We wanted to grab a can of one of the IPAs to-go at the Growler Shack outside but they don't sell singles.
