My friend and I were shopping at the Christmas Tree Shop in Lynnfield. She was looking for wine glass charms, and couldn't find them. We asked Donna, a store associate, if CTS carried them, and she told us they had them in the back of the store. We did find some, but they were not what my friend wanted. Later, Donna found us in the store, and she had several packages of wine glass charms!! She told us they had more in the seasonal section of the store. We couldn't believe that she went out of her way.... what customer service!! We are still taking a about how thoughtful she was to not only find the charms, but also find us!!! you gotta love being accused of putting multiple items in the wrong place to get charged a lower amount. this store is a disaster and blames customers for the incompetence or a mistake an employee made by putting the wrong product in the wrong place ( not 1 but 3 of the same item ) the supervisor carol blamed other customers for putting the items in the incorrect place or accused me of purposely doing it myself. for a $10 item they lost a customer and will deter anybody from going there. good job carol your pride got in the way of a great customer read more

Dropped in at this location to pick up some last minute nautical decor for a party, and as always CTS pulled through. The store itself is a decent size and although they are already transitioning to fall and winter items (come on its mid August), we found what we were looking for. Some of the aisles were cramped and difficult to get through due to entitled customers, but the staff here was pleasant and we got in and out fairly quickly. Just one tip, be prepared to fight to get through some areas of the store during high traffic times and seasons. read more

I have to say moving to Boston, I had probably about 5 separate people tell me to go to the "Christmas Tree Shop" to get stuff for my new house, and I thought they were all crazy. Ummmm I don't need a bunch of wreaths and santa hats as decoration in my house, thanks, is what I thought. But little did I know that The Christmas Tree Shop would be the land of plenty for me and Matt J. They have almost anything you could possibly ever need and more here, as long as you are willing to spend the time to search for it in the store.... This store is big. And for kitchen stuff it is a must for anyone---BUT I still haven't been able to find a pie pan here!! Kind of frustrating! They have pretty much everything else though, and everything seems to be $5 or less ha ha Oh, they didn't have pint glasses either....And for frames, WOW! So CHEAP! And they are actually nice and look great once they are hung up on your wall! We were sad to see that their small furniture pieces were a bit pricier than we thought they would be....even for a magical Christmas Tree Land such as this.... So if you are feeling like your house needs a face lift, but if you are on a stipend like I am or don't want to spend a lot, The Christmas Tree Store is like a gift that keeps on giving! read more

I don't know why I thought a Christmas Tree Shop would be any more pleasant near Christmas time, but it really wasn't. Everything is cheap price-wise, but for obvious cheap product reasons. Broken items and disorganized displays were the least of my worry with people smashing into me with their carts everywhere I turned. I'm pretty sure they won't run out of those felt stockings anytime soon, so I don't know why they rushed to get ahead of me! The answer is yes. The question, of course, is, "Don't you just love a bargain?" And this is a great place to find one. To find many, in fact. They sell just about everything except clothing. Furniture, food (sweets & some gourmet foods), kitchen equipment, toys, rugs, and decorations of all kinds. You never know what you'll find here. The stock changes constantly. And the prices are wonderful. They're like A. J. Wright prices, but this place is *so* much nicer than A. J. Wright. It's just fun to shop here. And this one is particularly large, making for all the more fun (I know since I've been to a bunch around New England--they were a regular part of family vacations when I was a kid). I can't wait to go later this week to buy autumn/Thanksgiving decorations for my apartment. Well, okay, I have one negative thing to say. Kind of. I bought a lovely kitchen table at CTS (not this one, the one in Shrewsbury), and when I tried to put it together I found a piece was broken. I went back, and noticed the floor model was broken in the same way. I know, this is the manufacturer's, not the store's fault. Besides, the manufacturer happily sent me replacement parts. But my father says furniture from CTS is always like this: looks nice, poor quality. So, FYI, I thought I'd pass on his view and my experience. I still love this place. As the late Whitney Houston used to belt out... and I will always love you. Well that's how I feel about CTS. Been to a couple throughout ma (I assume there's still one on the cape too). I always leave there happy. This has become my (somewhat) yearly pilgrimage with my east coast friend Michelle. A day of shopping tat always includes this place (and usually TJmaxx and whatever else we feel like). Yes - it was early October and they are already pushing Cristmas.But come on, it's in the name. And if I had not been getting on a plane to return west in a few days, I would have easily spent another $20 on giant ornaments and things equally as cute - and I'm jewish! But they have so much stuff cheap. You wil leave there with things you didn't need, it's a fact. Just deal with it. All sorts of food items (red mill flours and mixes) candy and chips, cheap jewelry, candles, lots of makeup - even good names, cards, curtains (best place to find them!!!!), carpets, kitchen items, baking, dishes, furniture, and so much more. I bought special bamboo double blinds for $16.99 that I have only seen for $250 at other places~! I have been to every other Christmas Tree Shop in the Boston area except this one. I was pleasantly surprised to find a HUGE make up and beauty section. Amazing! And seriously in competition selection wise with major retailers! The home section was pretty decent although sadly has a lot less color selection then style. Think: one color for each style. Kind of disappointing. The seasonal section was amazing, I got a great easy sweet pepper planter and hope to have some great fresh vegetables come summer. The staff here is amazing, the place was mobbed and the girl at the checkout still took the time to have a polite conversation with us and our 18 month old who feels the need to have conversations with all our service people. Which is refreshing because a lot of times this is not the case. I will be back here and will definitely be hitting up the beauty department and stocking up real soon! read more

Having grown up on Cape Cod, I have fond memories of the Christmas Tree Shop (do you guys know which one I am talking about? In Sagamore... come on, yes?!) Anyways, I remember that it had extremely fragile things, stale candy, and stuff that smells bad. I am happy to report that this is not the reality anymore (or, at least, at this store). In fact, they have some great finds! Large Dr. Bronner's magic soap for $10.99 (when it is around $17 at Whole Foods) and inexpensive cookware that may only be used a few times. Maybe it is because I am older, too, but I found their stuff sort of rad. 'Twas busy when I went (Sunday afternoon), but they had all lanes open (but customers who didn't have a clue - so a long wait) and the store was clean. Woo. read more

Yes, I do just love a bahginn! I have been shopping here off an on for quite some time. It's not AS dangerous a store as tjmaxx is for me, but I can easily walk out with a number of other things that would probably never make a shopping list. I come here every year around Christmas (like I did today) and grab some things to finish wrapping gifts with. I usually find little stocking stuffer things in the beauty section for my sisters. Today I didn't have such good luck, but that was cause it was a clusterF in there, and I wasn't feelin the line thing. I picked up a teeny little shelving unit to put my printer ontop of and my cookbooks inside of. It's nice and wicked cheap, and probably not durable at all. But for $20 it solved a problem pretty quickly, and that is all it needed to do! I like to get the weird baking/cooking accessories that I want to try an experimental dish with here - silicon cupcake/muffin thingies, and pasta cutters, cheap cutting boards. They have a million and one things that you could easily clutter up your kitchen with. This location is not as messy as the other Christmas Tree stores I've been into. Things are fairly well organized, the people are always in a good mood (that I've interacted with) and have always been happy to help me with this or that, finding stuff, pricing things that don't have a price. As long as you all promise not to laugh at me when I say that I avoided going to Christmas Tree Shops for years and years because I thought they only sold Christmas trees, I'll tell you a little secret: You can get 18 large shopping bags each filled to the brim with items that you not only will love, but that you actually probably even need - and you won't pay more than $70. I think there's actually something wrong with the cash registers or something. Maybe one of the Elves (workers) behind the scenes at the headquarters on the North Pole (Western Massachusetts) is just terrible at math. Or really loves low prices! But wow... I save so much money that I can use my savings to hire a helper to bring my bags to my car for me after a half-hour trip to the Shop. This location stands out from other nearby Christmas Tree Shops because the store is consistently organized, clean, and easy to navigate. And the lines really do move quickly, which is not always the case in other stores. They have a fantastic selection of scrapbooking supplies, picture frames, and gift bags. They also have an extensive selection of window treatments, and you basically haven't lived until you have put curtains on every window of your house for under $30 for all of them together. Unreal. It's bargain shopping at its best. And this one is the best of the best. Bonus: your arms will be toned by the time you're done - all those bags full of goodies get heavy, baby! read more

If you have never been to a Christmas Tree shop. GO. Now. Yeah YOU. I used to go to the Cape during the summer. One of our BIG outings was to the Christmas Tree Shop. I love it than.........and I love it now Where else can you buy a dog bed, a candle, q-tips, Tiki lights, tupperware, silverware and soy crisps...........on the cheap...... Thats right! I guarantee you that you will walk out with a few things..........If you just moved this place is like heaven. Another awesome idea is to buy a basket with coffee mugs, flavored coffees and biscotti........it makes a great gift basket... for a boss or co-worker. I made another gift basket but got these cute ceramic miniature banana bread pan, with batter and a wooden spoon and a oven mitt.........Cuteness to the max and I hate that shit! read more

I have always loved this store and believe me that I have spent a fortune in it over the years. But noore will I favor it. I was there yesterday and was talking with an employee. I always loved their easy, no hassle return policy but now that they are owned by Bed, Bath and Beyond they have installed that hard core, tough, no exception return policy that has always been Bed Bath and Beyond's. Ok, so the Christmas Tree Shop is a chain bargain store. It's not useful on a daily basis, the general aesthetic is low-brow, and the name is totally stupid. But! I have found some treasures at the X-Mas Tree Shop. For your perusing pleasure: * Reflective Crossing Guard Vests for the dogs (so the pups don't get shot while in Maine) * Hula Girl Salt & Pepper Shakers for my mom (complete with grass skirts) * Vinyl Table Cloths for all occasions (I don't know where else to get them.) * Citronella Luminaries * A $4 Rosebush (called Climbing Golden Showers, come on, that's priceless) * Lots of Cheap Containers for my Gardening Habit * A Mermaid Garden Statue So about 90% of the stuff they have there is junk, but among the remaining 10% there are treasures. read more

I love this store. My ex bf kept telling me how wonderful this place was and finally took me to the one in Natick. It reminds me of Jack's World, a bargain store that has discontinued and excess stock items. This place is great for odds and end items to furnish your home if you've just moved. Dishes, decent quality pots and pans, window curtains (or treatments :-P), shampoo/conditioner, all at discounted prices. Just as Michael C. said, the furniture quality leaves a lot to be desired so I would skip that if I were you. read more

Want some good deals, eh rather STEALS, come here! I'm keen on the food, but they have other deals as well. Going traveling? LOTS AND LOTS of stuff for the traveler at decent prices. They have a HUGE selection of mini everything. Lots of jams, jellies, candy, nuts, salsa, chips, etc. What I don't like: THE LINES! They can be lengthy at times. Also, if you are sensitive to strong smells, stay away from sections of the store. Its much smaller than the one in Lynnfield, however, much more organized I think, but I just did not like being there. Its basically the same thing everywhere you go, but I just didn't like this particular store at all. I felt like there was too much open space (as if I am really begging for cluttered stores), and their travel size toiletries were in bins all the way to the ceiling, so what would happen if you needed something that far up? Goodluck finding someone that works there. So yeah, there is parking, there is cheap stuff and you will definitely find bargains. Have fun...I will continue to shop in Lynnfield. read more

A strange combination of KMart and World Market--i.e. cheap, eclectic collection of stuff. I'm visiting a friend for the week, and we found really nice brocade-cloth Roman shades for $12, and... since it's the week after Christmas, anything Christmas is half off or more. So it's a great place to find bargains, though things seem to be pretty easily trashed they way they're presented for customer discovery, so you also have to be careful. And if you're looking for something specific (we were rather let down by their lamp collection--i.e. next to nothing), apparently it's not a place you can count on to find exactly what you need. Waited 20-30 min in line with the woman behind on top of me (COVID 6 ft apart) apparently doesn't apply in this store .. then got to register & was told the item I chose was not part of the "selected" clearance but there was at least 5 more on the shelf . When question cashier was all defensive.. yelled it's "selective " then move the stuff that not clearance out of the area marked clearance .. so aggravating not worth going in for this treatment!!!! read more

In my most recent visit to The Christmas Tree shop, I single-handedly lowered the average age of all of the shoppers from 68 to 59 years young. I was carrying around coupons for 20% off your entire purchase and I made more friends that reminded me of my great Aunt Kay than ever before. Good times indeed. The Christmas Tree Shop is filled with bargains and if you have the time and the patience, give it a whirl. There's always a hodgepodge of items from Burt's Beeswax beauty products to little trinkets and tchotchkies. They also have a decent home selection to stock up on plates, glasses, etc. I like going here because it plays to my uber-frugal tendencies, and why would I pay more somewhere else when I know I can get a bahhhh-gin here? read more

Um...they actually do sell xmas trees (someone said they didn't!) & someone else said they don't sell clothes...right and wrong...they don't have a lot of clothes but they always seem to have boston & cape cod hoodies as well as socks, gloves, hats etc (i realize a lot of people wouldnt buy clothes there anyway but I just want an accurate review). I Love CTS! I've gotten a little of many things here from kitchen things, great books, gloves for winter, cd's, stationery, small gifts, picture frames, great curtains & window shades, scrapbooking stuff (intermittently) lamps etc here. Know your prices but they will likely be lower here than other stores. I would not recommend the furniture as it is equal to or less than IKEA quality. This holiday season, I have spent about $120 on misc. items as gifts or to put with gifts and feel like I scored big time!! The Lynnfield and Natick stores are also very, very good, Avon is mezza mezza. read more

Yesterday I called the store at 9am requesting they'd hold a popcorn machine for me until noontime. I didn't get to the store until 7pm to find it still securely held behind the service desk (which was crowded with staff and returned/held items as it was a very busy night). To my dismay, however, the box was bulkier and much heavier than I'd expected. But the female store manager lifted and carried the box to my carriage without me even asking for assistance. The staff seemed very courteous and the lines moved quickly. I was in and out without any problems, except the fact they were sold out of popping corn. But I'll live. LOL My only complaint: the guy standing outside at the entrance wearing a Santa hat, ringing a Salvation Army bell, singing Christmas carols, who appeared to be under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs. He made me feel a bit uncomfortable while entering and leaving the store. Tis the season I guess. Last night was my first time at the Somerville shop but definitely not my last. read more

I have frequented many a Christmas Tree Shop in my day, but this one is probably my favorite. It's not too big or cluttered and they have everything that they advertise in their flyer. They have a great kitchen section with adorable things so its great if you're starting out with your first grown up place. I can't tell you how many people think I paid a pretty penny for my dishes at Crate and Barrel when they were only $14.99 at xmas tree. Plus, for someone like me that photographs EVERYTHING, they cater to all my adorable photo album needs at cheap prices. read more

My wife walked in to look for a new carpet for the house today around 6:30 Sunday may 15. And the female employee that was working around that rug area was very rude. My wife rolled out the rug to see what it looks like and how long the carpet was and she complained, asking in a rude tone if she was going to put that back. My wife said that she would put it back once she finished. While my wife continued to shop and lay the rugs on the floor, the employee kept sighing and tapping her foot impatiently. When my wife finished looking and started putting back the rugs, the employee yelled and said that she was doing it all wrong and told her to stop. Decided to check out this place after my friend furnished most of her apartment here. It's a regular big box mart, kind of messy looking. No Christmas trees, but I did find a value pack of Kleenex for $3.99. All the boxes were labeled in Thai and had Winnie the Pooh on them! How rad is that? Also picked up some bath and body stuff on the cheap, their selection is great. Didn't buy anything from their Godiva display though I wanted to. And this is totally not useful to most people, but the generic hair bleach they sell there is waaay better (and cheaper) than the Jolen I've been using. Score! Just avoid this place if you have a headache, yelling and crying kids galore. read more
