I had a bad experience and would not recommend Dr. Molinar He says that he needs to drill and fill a bunch of cavities that I never had before. I trusted him and said sure. After my first filling was done, none of my retainers fit anymore and my bite was completely off causing pain and bothering me throughout the day. He tried to get me to accept more cavity work but I was concerned more damage would happen. I got a second opinion and my new dentist said there was no cavities, everything was fine, and said be careful of unethical people trying to make money which I fell for. read more

I rarely ever write reviews but felt I needed to express my gratitude to Dr. Molinar and his entire staff. I've been his patient for approx. 7 yrs. He has always done excellent work, been very patient with me (I am a senior) and most importantly to me he is very honest and ethical. He truly cares about his patients. Also, his office manager Debby always breaks down my insurance papers for me as I have a difficult time with this kind of paperwork. I know she spends much more time with me than normal but she never makes me feel inferior or a burden. His assistants Maria and Molly are always upbeat and conscientious and Sarah my hygienist is extremely thorough and never rushes through anything, like I've experienced before in other offices. My hygienist, Sarah, had been in the business for 20+ years and provided a long list of home care tips which I've since incorporated into my daily routine. I would be very careful with getting their "expert" opinion. I went in there for a visit in January. I was told that one of my kids had a total of five cavities. This kid sees a dentist regularly, no history of cavities, and was recently seen by her orthodontist. They had been her general dentist prior; we had to change due insurance. I took my kid back to the orthodontist they reval'd, no issues were noted. We just left (today is: 6/25/24) Oceanside Dental Arts, who by the way is amazing!! And they confirmed, by doing a full set of x-rays and two people evaluated, that my daughter has NO cavities. Sooo 6 months later no cavities?? Seems suspicious that they "magically" went away. read more

Went to see Dr. Molinar today. Although he wasn't able to do the procedure needed, his referral saw me immediately. At around 9:00pm tonight he calls to check up on me. Molinar's philosophy is drill and fill any sign of decay. Other dentists will watch and wait to see if it grows. If drill and fill aligns with you then I think you'll be fine here. I wish he told me about this difference and seeing a different dentist. Personally, I don't care for Molinar's personality either. I'm sure others will like him more than me. Modern dentists use other treatments like Curodont, but he is skeptical of new dental tech and only drills and fills. One plus is that he answered my questions thoughtfully and in simple terms. My main issue is that he drilled and filled multiple cavities in a row that left my teeth sensitive to cold and in pain when I chew. read more

He's a good man, makes the appt pass by whilst talking about whatever pops into anyone's head, and what was my biggest thing was this: After I got some fillings, later that day he personally called me to check on the bite of my new set of teeth. I am embarrassed to say I haven't been to a dentist in years but wanted to post this. Dr. Molina r was the last dentist I visited back in 2010 I believe. I had much work done, three crowns on my top front teeth. Well, just last week one crown fell out. I got dental glue and stuck it back in as I don't have dental insurance right now. If someone told me Dr. Molinar would literally change our lives I would have thought they were exaggerating but nope! My Husband had the worst looking teeth for different sorts of reasons. So embarrassed he wouldn't even smile. My heart ached for him. Dr. Molinar fixed his mouth and he looks like a model!!!! My father has been seeing Doctor Molinar for years, after his rave reviews I gave him and his office a try after a change of Insurance. I am so pleased with the friendliness of his staff and how easy they are to work with. They worked with my insurance and communicated with me throughout my process. Dr Molinar is extremely professional and does a great job explaining things and makes my visits enjoyable. The location is convenient located right off the 5 freeway on Carlsbad Village Dr. & Harding St. There is plenty of parking, they are flexible with appointments, and have called me to get me in earlier when they have an opportunity. Ok, if you are out there and in search of a dentist, search no more! Dr Molinar(gotta love that his last name is practically molar), is awesome. Super friendly, super informative, cares deeply about your oral care. But the best part is this sand blasting technique. I woke up this morning, tense with the thought of the dreaded 2 foot needle to get numb(ok it's only 4 or 5 inches), but instead he calmly explained the sand blasting technique which required no numbing and almost no drilling. I was slightly skeptical because I have super sensitive teeth and I had what felt like an exposed nerve. So he took it slowly and asked that I let him know if it hurt. Instead, he was finished with the entire process and I thought he had only just started to prepare the surface for a filling. As a further testament to his ethics, he let me know that I did not need to do work on certain teeth but that they were optional, at least for now. I have always felt that my dentists were interested in putting new additions on their homes, but Dr M is really interested in your oral health, doing what's needed and keeping you informed of your options. I think this office fully pays for and/or deletes their bad reviews. The only highlight of the office is the lovely receptionist at the desk. My fiance and I went to see Dr. Molinar after moving to San Diego. He not only claimed we each had upwards of 10 cavities (as if we haven't been to a dentist in over a decade), but also did a cancer screening claiming we both had suspicious imaging and lumps and needed them to be checked immediately. Needless to say we fully freaked out. Went to an oral surgeon, a general practitioner and had our xrays reviewed by our family friend who is also a dentist and turns out ALL, including the 10 cavities, were false claims. He is only after the money, is not qualified to be doing cancer screenings and convinces you to do treatments you don't need. Not to mention, his nurse or whoever she was "Ewwws and aaaahs" completely unprofessionally while he's observing your mouth. I'm leaving a review because instead of providing more insights, he consistently reminded me to leave a review. And while I was asking the receptionist for clarification on the 10 fillings he claimed I needed, he consistently interrupted to encourage me to send him referrals. This man is a used car salesman's excuse for a dentist. Beware! read more

As a new patient I was concerned about starting a relationship with a new dentist. I relocated to Carlsbad from Iowa. Dr. Molinar's assistant made taking x-rays a fun experience. We talked and laughed so much, I forgot that I usually gag while having x-rays done. :-) Dr. Molinar impressed me with his knowledge about everything, including dentistry. I had 4 cavities and Dr. was able to use air abrasion technology to provide me with beautiful teeth colored fillings. So happy I was able to find a new dental home. Last weekend I suffered a severe jaw bone infection under one of my molars. The pain was so severe and incapacitating that I called Dr Molinar early on a Sunday morning, it was Fathers Day so I felt bad about doing it, but needed some advice on how to handle the pain. Rather that simply giving me pain advice over the phone, Dr Molinar told me to meet him at his Dentist office that morning. I met him at the office, it was clear by the way he was casually dressed he was planning on a relaxed Fathers Day, so more reason for me to be grateful how he dropped everything to be with me. Without the normal help from an assistant he proceeded to X-ray my mouth, figured out the issue, provided an anesthetic and then reduced high points on the tooth above the jaw infection to reduce pressure on the jaw. He then wrote out pain killer prescription. I am not sure how many Dentist would go this far to help their patients. Dr Molinar is a good man and an excellent dentist, very lucky to have him in Carlsbad. read more

Had my first check up with Dr Molinar today. The clinic was warm and nice, the staff are friendly and not intimidating, and Dr Molinar himself did my check up. He was very thorough in explaining what I have, and what I need to do to take care of my teeth and dental hygiene. He also found some remnants from when I had my braces from 15 years ago! A friend recently mentioned this office for dental work and so happy she did. Dr. Molinar and the wonderful staff are great, very knowledgeable and friendly. My 1st visit (after initial checkup) was deep cleaning (2 visits), which I was afraid of. I've never liked needles, numbing of the gums etc. both ladies who helped me were very nice and made me as comfortable as can be. It wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. It has been years since I've been to Dr. Molinar, but I wanted to put in a good review nonetheless! Especially since I've been to different dentists in my own area and have been able to compare... He was really great. He knew what he was doing and I felt he was trustworthy in giving me the best care, but on top of it he had a fun personality. He'd make jokes and just lighten up the environment a bit. He was professional as well, and had a way of telling you like it is in terms of what you needed to do without exuding judgement. He was the dentist who got to pull all four of my wisdom teeth too. It went very smoothly. He also was the first dentist to make me understand that because of these gaps under my back teeth, I needed to floss in a certain manner in order to really make sure I was getting all the gunk out. He illustrated how to do this, and what he meant. My teeth are like the ultimate trap and that was causing some problems. This is something I didn't realize before. The only reason I stopped going to him was because I got married (not under my parent's insurance anymore) and moved away. But I would highly recommend him to anyone. read more
