Dating back a whole decade, this man has bruised kids' arms, and yells at them excessively. You don't even need to take my word for it -- you can see the photos pop up when you search his name. This is already hard enough for adult patients to deal with, so I can only imagine how horrible it is for the kids. I have severe nerve damage from my wisdom teeth removal that was 4 months ago, made a complaint to the state and the doctor brought that up during a checkup which made me very uncomfortable. I am extremely disappointed with our experience at this dental office. My daughter had an appointment scheduled months in advance for a tooth extraction. The dentist Christopher P. McAboy was dismissive of her very real anxiety about receiving the numbing shot. He made only one attempt to give the injection, then refused to continue simply because she lifted her leg and squeezed a stress ball (i provided). Instead of showing patience, compassion, or offering reassurance, he displayed unfriendly and unprofessional energy toward both of us. Children often experience anxiety at the dentist, We left without the treatment we had waited months for, and my daughter was left feeling even more fearful of dental visits. I would not recommend this office to any parent looking for a provider who treats children with kindness, patience, and understanding ZERO stars I will also be filing a complaint through my daughters insurance. read more

D. McAboy was in the rush to leave after consulting my teeth. The nurse was really genuine and kind, but they claimed my insurance didn't take a specific anesthesia and I would have to pay out of pocket. I called my insurance to double check, they claimed that's not likely true and will need to have a prior access to review it and approve it. When I called in for my insurance to have prior access, the receptionist was being really rude about it. Stated that she couldn't do it and I will have to call again tomorrow. I read someone's review saying that they were being mistreated because they had state insurance instead of private insurance. Which might explains why I was getting treated this way. Why take state insurance if you're not willingly to wait weeks for my state insurance to pay you. read more

The staff were nice but after having all 4 wisdom teeth removed I've been in so much pain daily for almost a week now. I felt better with my wisdom teeth in because I can't eat, can barely talk, can't sleep due to the pain waking me up and honestly I definitely regret going through with this. I've come back for follow ups twice now (no they don't check on you after or initiate a follow up, you have to call them) and each time I left still in extreme pain. I've done everything I was instructed, took every pill given and still feel horrible. I resorted to taking more painkillers that I bought on my own because what I was given wasn't enough. It's so bad i can feel the aching in my mouth going to my temples giving me a horrible migraine. Pray for me and think wisely before removing your wisdom teeth. read more

My son was seen by Dr. McAboy about 2 weeks ago for an assessment of a removal of an extra tooth. I voiced my concern to them that my son might be "scared and might screamed" during the actual procedure. Now they refused to see him. They wrote down in their note that he is "uncooperative" and "can't be treated" per their manager Marilyn. They haven't even seen my son for more than 15 minutes for the actual exam and they already refused him care. They didn't give him a chance after I voiced my opinion and as a concerned parent. Think about it who wouldn't feel nervous and anxious going to the dentist? I myself still is! I asked for Marilyn's last name which she refused to give out because she was arguing, talking over me, and being very aggressive towards me. Went in to get two of my impacted wisdom teeth removed. I typically have a considerable amount of dental anxiety, and prior to my treatment here I had never received any sort of local anesthetic (or any oral injection for that matter.) Didn't even feel the needle going in! Dr. McAboy was thorough, prompt, and sported a pleasant attitude. The surgery was finished quickly and recovery has been going very well so far while following the instructions I was given. Felt absolutely no pain during operation. I am starting to return to normal living after one week post-op and my experience here gave me a hopeful outlook for future dental treatments. Nurses, reception, and other staff were all kind, inviting, and attentive. This office is one of the only places in the whole state that takes my insurance, and I am thankful that my experience here was so positive. I was anxious at my consultation, wait wasn't very long at all. They were busy, but that happens & front desk staff handled that well. The nurse wasn't bothered at all by me being anxious which is comforting. The oral surgeon seemed very confident in his treatment plan & also seems to care without being judgmental about my oral situation. He even was reassuring about my wisdom teeth being able to be pulled with local since I previously was told that they'll have to be out under sedation which I'm more comfortable being awake while they're taken out. It was a comfortable experience once I was in a room and realized these people take their jobs seriously & see patients as people not just money. Honestly I couldn't even get in for an appointment. I had one scheduled but it didn't work out. The receptionist is incredibly rude. I have no idea how she even works here! I would never recommend this place to anyone. Called because insurance gave me the number and referred me to this DDS and the receptionist talked to me like I was stupid. Just for asking questions. The office staff was friendly and kind. Dr. McAboy, however, is too easily frustrated when things don't go as planned. He didn't seem to plan enough time for himself in case the surgery didn't go smoothly. He tried placing an IV 7x into my daughter's arms and blamed her for the issue stating it was because she was dehydrated when she was told not to drink anything for 6 hours prior to this appointment when it was his ineptitude that was the problem. My daughter has had IVs placed before with zero problems. When she started to panic, he took out the IV and decided that he wasn't going to proceed, which at this point, I don't think I'd want him to proceed anyway knowing what else could come up unexpectedly and have him take his frustration out on her. At no point was I asked to come back to calm her during the placement of the IV nor was she allowed to listen to some music to help herself focus and calm down. I work in the dental field and have worked in the dental field in several capacities for 30 years, including being an assistant to another oral surgeon years ago, and have Never come across someone with such little patience and ineptitude. He should've given her a pre-procedural sedative prior to coming in that day as well. Why that wasn't recommended I am unsure. Anyone who has to have an oral surgical procedure done is going to be a little nervous, let alone when things don't go well and then the Dr. gets frustrated, short, and mad and it's aimed at the patient. At the very least, he needs another course in placing IVs because 7x to try to place one is far too many. As a mom, I was essentially told my daughter is too difficult and will need to be seen by another specialist who retains an anesthesiologist in a hospital setting. My daughter has always been a good dental and medical patient, follows directions, and never experienced anything close as traumatic as this. She has huge bruises up and down both elbows and cried the rest of the day. She felt like she was being blamed by Dr. McAboy. read more

They can pull teeth, Don't expect any professionalism though. Dr. McAboy is a rude quack. I said I have I very low pain tolerance an get screwed around for 5 week before being told it's my fault I'm not receiving anything stronger than a local anesthesia (shots). My experience with the doctors staff was wonderful. I found his staff were as cordial, and as nice, and outgoing as anyone could hope for. Not only to the patients, but to each other. Every staff member was terrific. The receptionist was as sweet as she could be. They work like a family unit, and I was treated like someone they had known for years even though I was a new patient. I had to get 9 extractions, and Dr. McAboy was as good as it gets. Literally no pain. I had to do this over three visits, but each time the teeth were out before I knew it. It gets no better than this. He is and oral surgeon and at the top of his profession. Both he and his staff were a blessing for me. I healed up nicely in short amount of time which prepared me for dentures. I found him by recommendation. I am thankful for the person who directed me to him. I highly recommend the doctor. I believe anyone can have the same experience I had with he, and his staff. You just can't want for nicer people. First thing to accept is the reason your there. Everyone's thoughts run away with them. Its a part of life, people undergo this experience every day. But they will make it as comfortable and as painless as humanly, and medically possible. I had an emergency situation where i needed three teeth out and a really bad infection dealt with pronto! I had an appointment scheduled but it got to the point where I needed the work done immediately. The staff at the office squeezed me in 2 hours after I called them about the emergency. I have never been fond of the dentist, but DR McAboy was very nice. He leveled with me about the condition of my teeth and talked to me throughout the procedure. It was a very pleasant experience dealing with a first dental appointment with Dr. McAboy and his staff. The appointment started on time (most of previous experiences include 15 minutes waiting around). Dr. McAboy was very informative and gentle. Overall, this was the worst dental experience I've ever had. When I made my appointment I specifically asked if I would have to remove my piercings, and I was told no. I ask because my piercings shrink rapidly and I don't like to remove them. When I got there the first thing they asked me to do was to remove them, obviously upset I tried to explain my situation and the assistant seemed to understand. When the dentist came in he told me I'd have to remove everything before the procedure, and was very rude in doing so. I don't understand how a septum piercing would have anything to do with removing wisdom teeth, so of course I was a bit upset. I was already very nervous so at this point I teared up a bit at which point the dentist said "oh I know things are just so hard for you aren't they" in a very sarcastic tone. Very unprofessional and rude of him to do. Then he said "ok well we are going to reschedule for w different day because I've had just about all I can tolerate for today" I just have to say that I have never seen such an unprofessional office in my life. He left the room and his nurse actually expected me to reschedule, I walked out. I'm not going to have someone working in my mouth that can't even give me respect. Turns out I'm not the only one they were rude to either because there was a man in the waiting room yelling about being hung up on while asking for directions. Please, someone, tell me why this place who has been making me jump through hoops to get my wisdom teeth pulled, is playing with my patient rights. Their front desk personnel NEEDS TO BE LET GO for completely refusing to schedule me. I'm in tremendous pain and have been in pain for the past week now, due to my wisdom teeth. Honestly, I'm angered because their job is to assist patients and schedule the but clearly they don't understand what proper communication or basic customer service skills. Before I go far... Let me take you back last week I called to schedule my appt, I had already received my referral from my dentist, but when I called fd(front desk) said that, that my dentist must fax over any referrals. I was upset because this hadn't been told me anyways my dentist Familia Dentist had me jumping through hoops to which added to my aggravation because of there miscommunication. Anyways this week, yes this week I finally got them (my dentist) to send over my information to get scheduled (received Tuesday) I called in today because yesterday I had to suffer through the pain at work. So I call today and the fd told me right away I need my member I.D. but I have familiarity with ForwardHealth and so I inquired about looking it up that way in which she started to use that condescending I'm talking to a dumb person voice.While she was telling me no she cant, I just simply said, Ok, I will call back with it because I don't have it, which is what I had told her the first time. SO I call member services with my insurance company and get the information quickly. I call back and she says, " Oh you're the one who hung up on me?" That was very rude! So I asked her who she was talking to because at this point I was truly surprised. She changed her voice back to a more professional tone and then tells me well Ms. Adams that was rude, and we don't have anything until June for your needs. Although I wanted to argue but I'm in pain and I rather be seen then continue this pain. So I asked to be put on with a manager because at this point I didn't have anything to say to her but that she at this point is doing too much. My thing is if you knew I was looking for immediate care in which I expressed this everytime I talked to you (the same person each time) Why couldn't you have told me before that appointment is out until June. When you see that I was already going through the motions of being seeing and the hurdles I was being given, a simple we're booked until June, wasn't enough? So I think she was on bullshit and I'm calling it. She did that to be spiteful. Mind you this is what this place does primarily. So I asked to speak to a manager to explain whats going on, to hopefully get assistance and to hopefully see where this doesn't happen again and to honestly get an apology, I wanted an apology for wasting my time, being extremely rude and causing me now more issues. But did I get that? NO, I got Ma'am you hung up in her face, I don't have time to hear yo hear this, are you gonna schedule or no? and she hung on me. This truly made me feel less than because they don't know what I've had to do to get the things that asked for, that was by the way unusual (As my dentist put it) I called back because I was in disbelief and they hung up on me all three times. Where is the professionalism? customer service? anything? I'm in pain and when I told her that she was like oh well all of our patients are and hung up on me. I'm sure the owners wouldn't approve of this or maybe they would but they sure don't deserve patients treating us like this, and I have a feeling there are more people who have had a bad experience. Even if it's out until June they need better standard practices so that ppl like myself who is already in pain don't have to waste time, its called courtesy. SO now I'm still in pain without an appointment and may have to find someone outside of my insurance provider. PLEASE DONT SUPPORT THIS PLACE. read more
