I just moved to the area for a one to two year job and was looking for breakfast. This place had good reviews on Yelp so I gave it a try. After reviewing their menu online I placed a take-out order for a side of corned beef hash and the Western skillet. They told me my order would be ready in five minutes and asked if that was too soon, that was impressive to be asked that! Being that I was so close, 5 minutes was great. I walked in the front door and the signage was clear as to where I should wait which I appreciated since I have been to places where that wasn't clear. The waitress who retrieved my order was friendly and quick. I was in and out in less than 5 minutes. My only criticism was that the bill was was on the pricey side, a few bucks more than what is was worth, but there aren't too many breakfast places in town so you can charge a few bucks more. It's time to give a backup restaurant it's proper due. I have lived part time on Burt Lake for over forty years. In that time, I have probably had breakfast out a thousand times. Literally. 95 percent at a great little restaurant by my house which I love. Occasionally they are closed or overflowing and Christopher's was always a reliable fallback. I had not been here in years. I stopped in today for breakfast and I have to say, I forgot how good the place is! A neat little dining room awaits, not fancy but spotless. The service was quick and I settled on the homemade pot roast hash with poached eggs and house made toast. Delicious! The eggs were perfect the hash was outstanding and the toast was delicious. Christopher's cafe was wonderful! I had a group of 13 and they easily accommodated all of us within 5 minutes. The waitress was wonderful and very friendly. I ordered the 222, and absolutely loved it. The pancakes were sweet and fluffy, sausage links not too oily, and the eggs were cooked to perfection. All the food was made to order. I've been going to Christopher's for 60 years. I know that there are new owners and wish them well. Which leads me to my review. My husband and I visited Christopher's for breakfast on July 3. We were both struck by the waitress' cold, unfriendly, prickly attitude. So it wasn't felt by just one of us. Does the waitress have an issue with out-of-towners? We couldn't tell. But for a second, I sensed real hostility. The breakfast itself was basic and average. Eggs, bacon, hash browns, toast, and coffee. I wish I could give more stars. Prayers to the waitress. read more

This is such a cute little cafe decorated with old photos and a charcoal drawing of the cafe. Our group of 12 descended there for lunch today, on the way to Leland and were quickly accommodated. The portions are generous and priced fair. I got the patty melt with fries and was pleasantly surprised when asked how I wanted it cooked and it came out a perfect medium. The Reuben was delicious too with quality corned beef. They have yummy raw cut French fries. Don't miss the beer battered cheese curds with ranch dressing. Just do it! read more

Stopped here on the way home from a Mackinaw family vacation on the way back to Chicago. Sammie was our server and she was great. I overheard her later informing a regular that they were understaffed, and I could tell initially when we walked in that she had a lot of tables to attend to. The servers here run their own food so that eats up a lot of their time as well, but she provided us with great service despite her workload. The food was tasty and well portioned: sometimes breakfast places will give you way too much food, but these portions were just right. And the sticky buns were a huge hit with the kids! read more

A busy breakfast and lunch spot, service was friendly and food arrived fast. My family got omelettes and all were light and delicious. Choice of toast from homemade bread came with each. I got eggs Benedict which are my favorite for brunch... But the bland Hollandaise sauce is what knocked their review down to 4 stars. (Is it so hard to put in enough lemon juice and seasonings to taste like Hollandaise not just warm, yellow gravy?) Other tables got some amazing-looking cinnamon rolls, but we didn't have room after our huge meals! read more

I would say this place is average. It's not bad- actually, it was much better than the other breakfast place we tried in Indian River, but it's not really great either. My fiancé and I both had the 'Country Skillet' and it was good. Our son (two-years-old) ended up getting an adult meal because the kids menu doesn't have many options. He just had the "222" which was two eggs, two small pancakes, and two pieces of a meat option. The pancakes were pretty hard and weren't great tasting either. However, the prices were decent and we will probably be back to give it another try next time we are in the area. read more

Really disappointed in Christopher's. Food was good, but the service was very bad. Waitress was slow and inattentive. We had to wait 20 minutes after being seated to place our drink orders and then another 15 minutes before we received our drinks and place our food orders. Wilson's is a much better option in Indian River. read more

I've visited Christopher's a lot over the years. Last trip through town, service was horrible and the food was poorly prepared. Today, I thought I'd give them another shot. It was the same as last year. After 15 minutes of waiting, we had to ask the bus girl who our waitress was. When she finally showed up, she didn't apologize for the delay. We had breakfast. My daughters eggs were over done. My omelette and toast were under done. Two years in a row is a pattern. I'd avoid this place. read more
