Not very often we get to Petoskey, but when we do this is our go to spot! Great sandwiches and soups that are filling. They had a feature sandwich which blue cheese and bacon that I split with my husband we equally enjoyed every bite. I had their special Cherry Coffee Latte...yummo! They are busy as they make from scratch. The avocado toast was good and light but the Denver Breakfast wrap was perfect and hearty! My sis bought me the coffee container mug which is perfect for keeping coffee nice and hot for a couple of hours! Nice long space. The bathroom space is tight though. read more

It was OK. I ordered their spicy avocado breakfast sandwich, which was underwhelming, especially for the price. Although my husband did get their breakfast steak quesadilla and that was delicious very flavorful. We both got coffees. I tried one of their specialty lattes, which just tasted more like a glorified chocolate milk, and my husband got a cold brew that was very watery. Service was OK. They were extremely busy and the ambiance was also just OK for my liking. It's a cool spot and I'm sure it would be even better if it wasn't so slammed. Their lunch options looked really good. My partner and I were craving a BLT when we were wandering around downtown Petoskey and stopped into Roast & Toast for a sandwich. I got the soup and half sandwich combo. I guess I should have known that it was self-service soup, but I didn't, and that was a little disappointing but I ordered the BLT and soup, and she told me where to get the soup. I felt awkward and didn't feel like I could change my order and just kept with it. I then got the wrong sandwich, I think she misheard me, but the cook was kind enough to remake my sandwich for me and it was remade really quickly! It was super kind that he remade the sandwich without question and it was delicious! I didn't love the soup but that was not a huge issue. It is fully counter service and the vibes inside are definitely a cafe. I feel like there are a ton of spots in Petoskey that I want to try but this was nice for a quick bite. read more

The place looks really cool. Key word is "looks." They seem to be a restaurant that is built for Instagram-famous wannabes to photograph themselves, the menus, and even the food, which looks tasty but is almost completely unseasoned. If you ask for salt or pepper they give you weird little flavor shakers. The staff is rude and unhelpful. If you ask them a question about the menu they just point to the menu instead of answering your question. It seems to be a beacon for rude and pretentious people because even the other patrons there are rude. The tables are jam packed together so you have to literally push and squeeze past others to move about the the tiny restaurant, the majority of the other patrons will squeeze and shove around you even while you are eating without saying "excuse me" or "sorry." The food is insanely expensive as is the artwork on the walls that look like $500 finger paintings. If you want to come to take pictures of yourself eating fancy looking, but bland tasting food that will not be served to you, but rather ordered cafeteria style (they will yell out people's names every few minutes to tell them to come get their own food) then this is the place for you! If you want to actually eat food that TASTES good without rude people knocking you in the back of the head while you try to eat and listening to screechy voiced rude baristas screaming out names the whole time, then steer clear. I am continually impressed with their large menu and great service every time I come here. I popped in here today to have a quick bowl of soup while my mom and sister were shopping at the book store. I was pleasantly surprised. The soup was GREAT! I had chicken Avacado soup it was fresh warm reasonably priced and delicious. Was definitely homemade. They had 3 other soup options to choose from on this day including vegetarian options. When we asked the cashier what bread types they had, she gave us a blank stare and eventually shrugged. Went with the wrap, which was an awful choice. The tortilla was one of those terrible grocery store tortillas that taste of plastic. The filling on the wrap was light, and ultimately too salty because of the huge pieces of Parmesan. We actually had a meal here twice - on our way north and 10 days later on the way home. That is an extremely rare thing for us to do since we love trying new places. This is officially my favorite place in all of Petoskey! It is such a cute breakfast/brunch spot filled with so much CHARM! My eyeballs were flying all over the menu and I was deciding between at least 5 different things, which was PAINFUL because I wanted all of them! It just means I need to go back now! :P I ended up going with one of their breakfast sandwich selections, which was SO delicious! But I'm also here to tell you, if you thought their food menu was overwhelming in the best way possible, their DRINK menu is even more so! So many different varieties of caffeinated and non-caffeinated drinks! When we came here in the summer, they had fun summer special drinks as well! The drawings on this drink menu were IMMACULATE as well! I was deciding between their Kim Possible latte or their Blue Clue "soda drink" and ultimately went with the Blue Clue! Yes...a light Italian soda mixed drink first thing in the morning might seem odd, but it was the perfect pairing to my whole meal and I was a happy camper! Please do yourself a favor and swing by Roast and Toast! If you can, try to get their earlier, as this is a popular spot that is sure to not only fill up, but sell out as well! Luckily, the line to order and the overturn of people dining actually goes pretty fast, so even a couple hours into opening when we stopped in, we waited in line for about 10 minutes (the perfect amount of time to sift through the entire food and drink menu and narrow down options) and by the time we placed an order, seats had opened up for us to sit in! It's truly the perfect spot to kickstart your Petoskey day and is located in the heart of downtown Petoskey, so I really don't know what could be better than Roast & Toast and then a lovely window shopping/digestion walk afterwards around the area before heading off on other adventures you have in store! We stopped by here today to get to-go sandwiches to take to the lake to eat. I'm on a girls' trip and one of my friends eats GF and vegetarian, and they have GF Udis bread. I got the turkey club sandwich minus lettuce, on a pita, but after seeing other people with sandwiches on sourdough, I wish I had ordered that - it looked pretty good. My sandwich was very good though - I don't usually like cold sandwiches but this one was tasty. I also got a small raspberry bar thing for $2 and that was good as well. Until we went there and I got the buffalo chicken wrap and the was a massive dead fly wrapped up in my buffalo chicken wrap. The restaurant seemed really disorganized there wasn't any room to put your dishes on the counter once you clear your own table. The coffee shop was busy and full of people/staff not paying attention as I was walking to my table with my coffee I had several people bumping into me and almost spilling my coffee. The restaurant refunded me for my food and drink due to the fly in my food but I won't ever be back. Please check your food when you go here the kitchen seemed to not do the best to prevent this situation (I.e leave food container lids open while make other orders or while packaging to go orders.) read more

Doesn't anyone get up before 8 am here in this town? I mean, what the heck. Half the breakfast places weren't even open and I was hungry! The date and I wanted to eat as local as possible and avoid the Bob Evan's across the street from us. Literally, it was either Roast and Toast, or Bob Evans. So, we went to Roast and Toast, obviously. Walking in, the place is really super unique. There's coffee cups on the outside entrance and several tables available for dining. We did have to ask where the menu was, and the fabulous gal behind the counter (Hillary?) told us where to look. (this is what happens when you aren't totally awake folks.) There were a few older folks in here scattered throughout and they were enjoying the quiet as much as we were. One older dude was a regular and making us laugh by giving the register gal (Hillary) some slack when we asked for napkins. We both died laughing! Anyway, they seem to be a coffee shop that expanded into food. Breakfast menu isn't huge, but let me tell you, our pancakes were DELICIOUS. We also loved the shower curtains separating the tables. This restaurant had some hits and misses. The shop is really funky and interesting to look at. The coffee is FANTASTIC! If that was the only thing I was reviewing it would be 5 stars. However we were here for breakfast and that was more of a miss. I ordered blueberry yogurt pancakes and a spicy egg bowl. The pancakes were ok. There was 3 of them. The cheese egg bowl with spicy potatoes was a disaster. Everything was oily. The potatoes were almost raw. They were crunchy and essentially inedible on both of our orders. It was a shame because the spice part was right. The cheese on the eggs was delicious. While waiting for our food, I watched the girl on the line touch and plate multiple foods items including bacon and never switched gloves the entire time. However someone else heard us and suggested we go look at the soups ourselves. This was still challenging as we did not know what was actually in the soup! However, we decided what to get, found a seat, and waited for our food. We split a soup and sandwich. We went with the baked potato soup, as it seemed like the safest option.
