This place was such a fun breakfast stop! My wife ordered the Cinnamon Roll French Toast with a yogurt, and I had the Michigan Berry Salad. First of all... the portions are HUGE! We shared everything and still had leftovers. We were literally fighting over the last bite of that cinnamon roll French toast... I lost. But that's okay because I took my butt right back the next day and ordered a full serving all for myself! Now, the salad wasn't my favorite, but I do want to say this. With everything that's been in the news lately about fresh produce and people being cautious because of recent food safety concerns, I was paying close attention. This salad looked freshly prepared not dumped out of a bag which made me feel much better about ordering it. The real star of the show, though, was that Cinnamon Roll French Toast. It was absolutely worth going back for! The people in Gaylord are some of the sweetest you'll ever meet, and the staff here fit right in. Everyone was so welcoming and kind. The restaurant itself is colorful, cozy, and full of charm. I especially loved the giant colorful coffee mugs decorating the outside they're adorable and definitely photo-worthy! One thing to know before you go: they close at 2:00 PM, so make sure you get there before then. Love the atmosphere and the staff members are always excellent - efficient, attentive, very hard working and very friendly. We enjoy the breakfast skillets and other full egg breakfast options served with quality bread for toast, but the sweet items look fantastic coming out of the kitchen and always tempt us. The only suggestion we have is to take a look at the oil or shortening used to fry potatoes, etc. as it seemed to have a bitter almost rancid taste this last visit. The coffee kept coming and the tea was good and hot. Eggs cooked perfectly and our orders are always accurate. Love the fun mismatched furniture and Bob Ross painting happy little trees on tv over the coffee bar. This is such a great little spot in Gaylord and we hope they continue to have success. read more

Love Rise and Dine. Good food, good service, Bob Ross on the TV. The decor is bright and cheerful; be warned that it can get a little loud because of all the hard surfaces. The food was quite good though with excellent toast. We split the cinnamon roll french toast, which was good but not great. My meat omelet was delicious and the hashbrowns were cooked nicely, but I think they might use imitation butter. Not a huge deal, just not my preference. I also had some of the yogurt & granola bowl, and that was quite good with fresh fruit. Many of the things on the menu sounded good; it would be nice if they had espresso drinks. Coffee was strong, though! All in all a great place downtown to grab breakfast or lunch. read more

Everything about this diner rocks: from the colorful walls and artwork, the eclectic/purposely mismatched tables and chairs, the international scenes in the restroom, and the variety of music played from above--we loved it! Oh, and the food was outstanding. I had the homemade biscuit and gravy paired with fresh fruit and scrambled eggs. My wife had the very ample veggie omelet, crispy hash browns and sour dough toast with apple butter. She shared her omelet with me and there's still half to take home with us to Ohio. Best of all, the waitresses were friendly and accommodating. The coffee was hot and fresh. We had eaten here when it was the previous business. Which we loved. The new owner kept the decor which is awesome. The staff were extremely nice as well. The food was hit and miss. Missed the menu from before. Wife loved the scrambled eggs; which is not an easy accomplishment. She did not like her hash browns which were to greasy for her. I ate them and they were good. Would have liked more if they were a tad more crispy. Bacon could have been a little more crispy too. I liked the cinnamon roll French toast. It was well made. I would have personally wanted it to have more of the gooey cinnamon mixture. All in all it was good. read more

It was just ok. We ordered the standard egg, meat, potato type breakfast.... The eggs were good, the bacon overdone and the hashbrowns were super greasy. One order came with biscuits and gravy (something we love) and they were terrible. I don't know what seasonings were used in it, but it was unexpected and not pleasing. We were on our way home from the UP and I wanted something to eat. BTW no great RV parking. Needed to find a spot on the street. We saw this place and thought it was worth a try. They are only open until 2pm and do breakfast and lunch. The French toast was dry and almost no cream cheese inside. Also, very little flavor in general. The veggie skillet was fair but again not overwhelming. The coffee tasted burnt and was just not great. Eggs also overly greasy. Service was fine but waited a minute for the food. They have a very eclectic vibe. Not sure we will return when in the area. read more

The food here was pretty good, not GREAT but good. The service was VERY good. Our server was hopping and still kept up. HOWEVER I would not return. The tables are all mismatched kitchen tables which are cute but they are painted surfaces. I saw a kid blow snot all over one table, then smash it in with his bare hands. When they left, only a damp rag was lightly wiped over the surface before seating the next patron. The chairs are mismatched kitchen chairs, some with chippy paint which is quaint, however here again is another surface to harbor bacteria, on top of that some of the legs were loose and wobbly. We witnessed one man sitting on a chair whose leg was bent under the seat. How he didn't break it and fall was a mystery to us. What if my 85 year old mother had sat in that chair and fallen? On top of all of THAT the place is an acoustic NIGHTMARE. Everything is a hard edge, there is nothing to soften the noise of diners, plates, cups, etc. It was hard to hear each other across from the oversized table. I wish I had taken a picture but my phone was in the car. Seriously, find somewhere else to go. This was disappointing read more

Food was good. However we ordered the Breakfast Croissant which is a croissant with your choice of meat with scrambled egg. What was served was a square biscuit sandwich. The server set it down with literally no explanation of substitution. Perhaps you should let someone know you no longer carry croissants or that you are out for the day. Great little spot for brunch on our way home from further north. The biscuits and gravy were solid and well seasoned. The breakfast burritos were a great value. They were busy but we got seats and the small counter and were waited on quickly. Our server was attentive and we enjoyed our meal. We will return to this cute spot. read more

What an awful experience my family and I experienced at this restaurant. I left this review on their Facebook page: "Here's my experience when I visited with my family on 9/2/24. The restaurant was filled and a couple parties were waiting to be seated. So it was about a 30 minute wait. The hostess took my phone number and we left to browse other stores. I got the call about 30 minutes later and we walked in. Our table was finishing being bussed and we were seated within a few minutes. Then we waited for a waitress. After 10 minutes of waiting I started looking around and seeing that every other table had food or drinks, or a waitress was providing service and we were being completely ignored. We waited about another 10 minutes. So after a solid 20 minutes with no waters, no drink orders, no menus, not even a hello, or a "we'll be with you shortly", we got up to leave. I informed the hostess that she could have our table because we were leaving. She looked confused so I told her we've been ignored ever since she seated us. She noticed our table was just like it was when she cleaned it 20 minutes before, no water, menu. etc. She apologized but we were already on our way out. I want to believe that we weren't ignored on purpose but there's less than 15 tables here. It's kind of hard to miss the one family table sitting there waiting for service when you have 4-5 employees running past us dozens of times. It feels personal and I don't appreciate it. read more
