A long time we waited to get in here... The hours are created by someone who obviously doesn't need the income (open 11-8) It's tough to get off the water and get in before 8 in the summer, then like the rest of the town.. it's closed except the local bar that stays open. The food: Not impressed. 1/8# burgers with the same pricing as a normal restaurant. Fish and chips $4-5 more than average. A medium rare cheeseburger is served well-done Server was very sweet, but not knowledgeable at all. (We really don't blame her at all) We asked about 3 different items, and she was honest about not trying any dishes, maybe new? Day one training should have given staff a taste of signature food so they have something to share with customers. It was also obvious she forgot to put our drink order in and took forever to bring it to us. The place has a great view of the river, but we were so let down after waiting so long to get in. So many spoke so highly of this place, we were really hoping it to be a great experience-but it's really nothing to brag about. We finally came by during mid-afternoon while it was pouring, minimal customers and service should have been on point, but it wasn't. I can't recommend this place at all. We drove to Pier M-33 restaurant for an early dinner, the Hostess was very nice and we got seated at a window seat, nice view of the river. Our waitress cheerfully approached us and took our meal order. We both got the soup of the day which came to us right away. A delicious, tasty squash soup and we really enjoyed it. Our food came in a timely fashion piping hot. We both ordered the Pub Dub smash burger and they were perfectly cooked and delicious, came with kettle chips. Hubby and I went for a late lunch hoping to miss the after church crowd. I called ahead and there was no waiting. When we arrived, there were a couple of people inside but we chose outside (shaded) seating since it was such a nice day. The deck, which is partially covered, overlooks the Cheboygan River. Apparently there is an award winning chef creating the delectable entrees. The menu included a nice selection of appetizers and ala carts/side items, burgers, salads, baskets, desserts, pastas, etc were on the dinner entree side and available after 4pm. Too bad...the mushroom pasta sounded delightful!! My husband and I both chose fish & skinny fries. What are "skinny fries"? They are the perfect size and crispness!! They are what fries were made to be!! I ate every single delicious one!! The fish was lightly beer battered Alaskan cod and it was just what my stomach needed to tame the serious case of hangries!! I'm not sure if the best part was the first bite or the wonderful smell as it was being brought to our table! (I'm saying this because almost all my life I've lived in KS, the allergy capital of the US, and have never been able to smell things like food until we moved to MI)!! The food was not good. There was barely a piece of chicken between the industrial breaded "pieces". Everything was out of a can or the freezer. Temperature of the food ranged from lukewarm to warm. The only fresh thing was the couple of slivers of Parmesan. The attention of the server was directed to more important things than guests. Very disappointing. read more

I went with the Wagyu NY strip, and it was nothing short of sublime -- easily among the best, if not the best, steaks I've ever had. And that's saying something coming from a die-hard ribeye guy. Speaking of ribeye, my wife ordered the prime version, and it was equally outstanding. We capped the night with their chocolate torte, which was decadent perfection. To make it even better, I brought a special bottle from my cellar and paid their very reasonable corkage fee -- the perfect finishing touch to an already stellar evening. Read all the past Yelp reviews, the place hasn't changed or got better. I tried there tonight and I should've read the reviews before going. We had a reservation so we were seated quickly and the hostess was great. Then we got to the server (the same server that was mentioned in previous reviews and we know because the review included a photo of her) she was very quick and condescending. Also forgot to mention the place was empty. Ordered apps, and they came out in a timely manner. We ordered the bing bang shrimp, Korean deviled eggs and the Big Mac eggrolls. The bing bang shrimp were delicious. The Big Mac egg rolls are not worth the money, 2 egg rolls for $11. The Korean deviled eggs weren't our cup of tea but included a hair. After discovering that we cancelled our order and paid for our apps and drinks and left. First and only time visiting this establishment. Not a bad looking restaurant, however they need training for their service and kitchen hygiene. read more

This is the second restaurant we went to in Cheboygan and the food was great! And again the atmosphere and decor didn't match the quality of the food. I love salmon, squash ravioli and beets but would not have paired them but the dish was prepared well and the flavors were fantastic! Swedish meatballs anyone?!? It was a wet chilly day in northern Michigan so I thought you can't go wrong with meatballs, mash potatoes and gravy. I was not wrong. The mashed and glazed carrots were absolutely melt in your mouth. The Swedish gravy and mushroom put it over the top! My meatballs were great...I'll say that three of the four meatballs were tender but one was rubbery and hard to eat. It was weird. Hopefully that was a fluke...as almost everything they make is amazing! They do no have a chicken dish anymore. Bummer. I miss a main chicken dish. They're chicken under a brick used to be my go to bc it was absolutely maxing on flavor but now there is no chicken option. There should be a chicken dinner option. The wait was longer than expected especially considering there weee only two table in service. Staff were friendly and accommodated my requests. Overall...this place hit all the notes...as usual. The hostess on August 2nd, 2025 at 5 PM was extremely rude when we walked into this establishment. We weren't even greeted with a hello, just a dirty look immediately as we walked into the restaurant. We asked how long a wait time would be, and were essentially ignored. Instead of kindly suggesting a reservation next time, she met us with a turned up nose and rude comment. I will be sure to not recommend Pier M33 to anyone visiting this area. I suggest management fix this issue as we have never been met with such disrespect. We came to Mulligans instead and the hostess was night and day in comparison. read more

Wow! Amazing service, delicious food, and the best atmosphere! We stopped by here for lunch and were so pleasantly surprised! It was a beautiful day, so we opted for the patio outside with the river view, and we were seated right away. We ordered all the beers on the draft list to try, the bing bang shrimp and cheese curds as an appetizer, and the apricot-dijon chicken sandwich and pub dub burger for entrees. We loved everything! The drinks were all very refreshing and on a rotating basis. The shrimp was super crispy, nicely coated with a sweet chili aoli sauce, and not over fried. The cheese curds were also well fried and came with a tomato based dipping sauce, which was very unique and delicious. The apricot-dijon chicken sandwich was recommended by the waitress (thank you so much!!!) and was absolutely to die for! We loved the sauce and tender chicken breast that was cooked to perfection and so juicy! Chef's kiss! I called to set up banquet room for in-laws surprise 50th anniversary party. Banquet planner made everything go really well with getting everything ready and information we needed to get the party together. She sent catering menus and event sheet. Answered questions in a timely manner. We had the room, a bartender for drinks and patio area to hang out. Enjoyed an evening without stress and got to enjoy the party. The food was really good. For never being there before and so far away the planning all came together nicely. We had meat n cheese tray with crackers, Swedish meatballs, crab stuffed mushrooms and veggies for appetizer. Then scalloped potatoes, meatloaf, vegetables medley, crusted white fish and roasted Yukon's for dinner. Everyone was pleased with the party. This place did a great job. read more

This is a charming little spot along the river, with both indoor and outdoor dining venue, and the offering have some depth, in the presentation and quality are extremely consistent. It's a real gem for the area, and one of my favorite dining spots in the Cheboygan area. I personally would like to see a little more choices on the wine list, but at least the ones offered are robust, quality choices. read more

Where do I start .. it seems if you have a limited menu on a holiday you should not run out of the prime rib half way through the night. there were 4 of us and after waiting for 30 minutes for our server, we finally asked if someone could wait on us .. we literally had to get up and go get our own drinks from the bar after looking at them sitting there for 15 minutes. My family and I love going here for food, but today I was very disappointed in the quality of service we received from staff. My table was ignored a surplus amount of times. I understood they were very busy that night, but that leaves no excuse not to reasure or check in with their guest about any delays or problems in the building. It felt like we were invisible. Our waitress left us for a party of 13. Left without a heads up or apology for the 2 hour wait. We were dining outside, which was beautiful, but due to the wait, we had no other choice but to leave. I hope that someone in charge of the restaurant can come across this message and talk with their staff about their childish behavior, avoiding problems they have caused for others. And the views of the boats on the river are always a lot of fun. After an afternoon on the lake, tubing and riding the Wave Runners, we were ready for a good dinner. Being guests in the area, we asked our friends where we could take them for dinner and they chose Pier 33. They made a good choice as the evening was enjoyable and the food was good. Walking onto the porch, we were hit with the fresh air coming in of the channel with the sound of boaters having fun, power boats revving their engines under the bridge, and the occasional drunk person dancing to no music as the boats passed by. As we were greeted by the hostess, we were well taken care of. We ordered drinks and an appetizer while we waited for the rest of the party to show up. Out of pure curiosity, I chose the Szechwan Calamari. The calamari were cooked well but the chili-lime aioli, mango and black bean salsa, and fresh Jalapeno, made it more Latin then Szechwan. Change the title and I would have no complaints. As far as the main dishes, there was a mixed review. The highlights were the Chicken Parmesan, the Chicken Morat, and the Shrimp and Asparagus Salad. I almost ordered the Chicken Parmesan, purely because it featured both Marinara and Pesto sauces. Luckily, I was able to try a bite and was pleased with the combo as the Pesto carried through well and made a great, layered flavor profile. The two people had the Black Cherry Burger were disappointed. The Cherry flavor was nonexistent and the flavor was one note. I personally had the Shrimp and Asparagus Pasta with linguine and a white wine sauce. The best part of the dish for me was the artichoke hearts and the grilled tomatoes in the white wine sauce. When it came time for dessert, we ordered one of everything. All the desserts were good with no agreement of which was best (we shared them all). Once again, the titles were a little off, they served a Mocha Creme Brule that was espresso flavored with chocolate covered espresso beans and a chocolate layer on top, with no caramelized sugar. Mocha Creme Brule? Probably not... but it was good. We spent a few hours eating, drinking, and talking (probably getting rowdier as the night went on) and the only thing that would have made the service better was prebussing. Other than hanging out with all our dirty plates, we had a great evening. We discussed the food and rated it as a group and came up with the following scores and possibly some new Yelpers. Monday Japanese Night was an absolute bust. 30 minutes to be seated in a non crowded space only to wait another 1:30 to get our food which never came. 'Starving", we finally left. Each meal came with soup which they ran out of at 6pm. We could have at least gotten our side salads in that time. We have two young boys that sat patiently, but night one of our vacation was essentially ruined. Unacceptable to allow guests to wait that long. Maybe skip the 'specials" and stick to a core menu. Not sure where to begin but this place definitely needs to read yelp reviews and work on where they are failing majorly. 2 years of consistent mistakes that could be avoided. When we arrived we were seated right away. We had multiple servers walk by us for 20 minutes before I had to get up and ask if we could have a server. Once she did arrive she was unpleasant to say the least. She took or drink orders and 20 minutes later we received them. After 1 hour of ordering our food we still did not have it so my husband had to go ask and the waitress threw her arms up at him very irritated and walked away. Then it came out a couple minutes later. I ordered chicken and the chicken was rubbery. When I brought it to the waitress attention and asked her to re do it she stared at me like I was crazy. Sent it back and in less than 4 minutes the same plate with the same chicken came back to me so hot she could hardly hold the plate. The chicken was clearly the same piece , still rubber. When I told her to send it back because it clearly was not redone she again just looked at me and rolled her eyes. I asked her to send it back and send me the manager. 20 minutes later he came out and after explaining my service and food he said "yeah it's happens sometimes ". Mind boggling to say the least. I Definitely do not recommend this place unless you plan to wait for over 2 hours to eat and don't have any kind of expectation of good food. read more

They have a relaxing setting on the marina and have friendly wait staff. My husband had the steak and I had the shrimp and salmon. Both tasted good. So, now for they negative aspect. The food took quite awhile to come out and the decor is dark and outdated. We have found there isn't a lot of dinner options close to where we stayed and was glad to find them. It just might have been an off night, but still a good meal. Major positive is they have pitchers of craft beer!! read more

Okay, another meal, this time an impromptu dinner with family that was visiting. Thursday night, 8:30pm and this place is hopping! Packed! We had a party of 7 and unbelievably they were able to seat us. On the patio even. Thunderstorm starts and BAM, we get a table inside. Service was phenomenal! The manager , Laura came to visit our table and was the complete opposite of what others have said they experienced with a different manager. I have had nothing but spectacular service and delicious meals every time I eat here. The walleye dish mentioned by others has to be their marquis meal. Three of us ordered it and all three of us had such a tremendously tasty plate. I'm not sure what they used to prepare the fish, but I need to find out in order that I can use it at home. Went to take my family out for a nice meal - show up at roughly 6pm. We got seated promptly and then waited over 20 minutes at our table as other people around us got seated and served immediately. No waiter ever came by and asked us what we wanted to drink or even to check to see if someone was with us. After sitting there for some time we got up and left - I doubt anyone even noticed. Completely unsure if I'll ever be visiting this restaurant again. read more
