Stopped in as we were passing through town and glad we did. the prices are rather high but everything is now I guess. But the portions were large, my mother and I split a Ruben and added the fries for an up charge and it was more than enough for us to feel satisfied. The fries were a bit over cooked but the Brisket Ruben we shared was really good. Could have had more saurkraut But it was still very tasty. The meat was cooked perfectly. The ends weren't too blackened, the meat wasn't overcooked. My son got the fancy grilled cheese with an upcharge on the onion rings. He said it was very good. I was hesitant to order a $15 grilled cheese but he said it was worth it. My husband, who never likes anything said the chicken tacos were the best he's had since we moved to Michigan two years ago. Although they had no salsa (which...if you are serving tacos, you should probably have) but they brought some pico, which didn't look all that great, to be honest. Just looked like chopped up tomatoes and onions, not even a little saucy, but overall, we thought the food was pretty good. Wouldn't say the service was outstanding but our server was competent and not unpleasant) although I went to the bar afterwards to see if I could get some coffee to go and the lady behind the bar never acknowledged me so I left. To be fair, maybe she wasn't working the bar, but if not, being told that someone would be with me soon would have been nice. Oh my gosh, all the food is good, and the pretzel is THE BEST pretzel I have ever eaten. Seriously, it's worth a drive. Made reservations for 8 at 5:00 this evening. The place was about half--full when we arrived, and the atmosphere was pretty low-key. Our group was seated immediately. This is where things fell apart. We had 3 servers ask us for our drink orders, 2 of them asking if we were ready to order. By the time we got our appetizers, the place started filling up, and things really started declining. Food orders were wrong. We asked for Brussel sprouts without bacon (food preference), and was told they could accommodate that; it was brought with sprouts and the comment, "we can't separate the bacon from the dish". Entrees came with incorrect sides, drink orders were late, and we got the bill before we could order a dessert. Very disappointing. I hope they adjust the intake of customers with the availability of their waitstaff. It's not the waitstaff's fault they can't keep up; it's the volume. read more

While on vacation we have visited Rusty Saw North both for breakfast and for dinner. I cannot recommend it highly enough for their pulled pork barbecue sandwich! Their blueberry pancakes are also wonderful with the side of thick sliced and savory bacon. If you're Up North this is a must-stop! I am absolutely astounded at the complete lack of attention and service. I walked in today with my 3 sons and my 73yr old mother. We are locals, we eat at this location often, but not enough to be "regulars". We were told it would be a 10 min wait. Father's Day, sure 10 min is very reasonable. 30min later we were seated, handed menus and IGNORED! 30min yet still later, after stoping 2 different servers and asking if we could order, only to be told "just a moment, a server would be right over", we left. I will NEVER be back. We walked out after ONE HOUR without so much as a glass of water. When we left, we the place was less than half full. This is in an area where the locals are the only way to stay open in the 8 months that the tourists are not here. I am VERY disappointed. Few facts below: 1. $38 per lb (attached is a reference for prices at a top notch BBQ place) less than 1/2 the price, and better taste 2. Not sure if they have enough food to feed your party (5 people) - we were told when we placed carry out they had to check if there was enough food. 3. BBQ sauce is store bought, and also over priced. Know it's store bought, because I found the sealed top in the canister. However, love me some sweet baby rays! I will certainly not be going back here. read more

Visiting a friend in petoskey and he recommended this place. Such great service and even better food. Good selection of drinks on tap. And had a delicious cocktail too. Nice outdoor seating in the wonderful Michigan summer weather. A little outside of town but worth the drive here. They have a wood fired oven for pizza and it was fantastic. Unfortunately, I was not thrilled by the food. I am closer to a 2 star rating than a 4 star rating for sure. Pulled pork: Not bad, a little dry and a little over-seasoned (3/5) Half-chicken: Best thing on the menu. Juicy and flavorful (4/5) Rack of ribs: Fine tenderness, but slightly dry and way too salty (2.5/5) Kids chicken fingers: Just not good, odd texture and salty (2/5) Side of corn: Overcooked and over seasoned (2/5) Side of coleslaw: Did not taste vert fresh had BBQ sauce in the slaw? No server. 25 minutes later, restaurant still half empty, we left - no food, no server, no recognition by staff. No clue what the food might be like. Told a passing server we were leaving (then 6:40 PM) and barely got an "Oh, OK." No apology, no recognition of the wait, no attempt to address the issue. Won't bother going back. read more

Service was very slow on Sunday around 10-11am on 1-4-23 even though they were not super busy. We came in with party of 7 and was told 5 minutes wait to setup the table. People after us had party of 10 they were told wait was 15 minutes. People behind them 15 minutes. Both there people/ tables were seated right away and had ordered before we were seated. After now waiting 15 minutes we were told all that was needed is our table to be cleaned and we could be seated. Terrible why was our table given to someone else and us forced to wait! Then service was very slow... we were never offered refills on coffee either. At one time I think only 2 other tables had people at them and no coffee, no food yet. We asked at the very end of dinner for more coffee when wait staff finally came out and finally got more just before leaving but went through breakfast with no coffee refills. Not sure it's worth paying these prices for such terrible service. This was our 5th or 6th time there too so kind of a regular customer. Was a very disappointing visit this time. read more

I have been to the rusty saw a few times for dinner and it has been very good. The service has always been a challenge especially in upper michigan however I decided try the brunch today. I ordered the hash it was dry and over cooked from last night beef roast and frozen cubed potatoes which was 80% of the meal. The the toast hardly had any butter on it. I had to wait to get the waitress attention to get salt and pepper 3-4 minutes later I got it then she zipped back to the kitchen I needed some other things but since the meal was dry I ordered a side of gravy. That was good but came with no spoon?? I had to dump hot gravy in a hot bowl on my food ? Again no waitress. Mind you I'm sitting at the bar. So to have a lack of serve staff was shocking. That being said. I also discovered by the time I got home that there was MSG in the food. I'm allergic luckily I just turn red and my face get hot for two hours. But if you are allergic to MSG be aware. That being said if I have a hankering for bbq I will be going somewhere else. Oh and the owner was at the bar for a bit talking to a few of her favorite people or regulars. I stood at the podium for over 5 minutes ( as the sign said please wait to be seated) that's why I decided to sit at the bar. Stopped on our way to Carp Lake. I have not experienced such great staff in a long time. They were friendly and fun! We ordered appetizers, and if the meals are as good as they were, what a treat! The roasted brussel sprouts were so delicious, we ordered another! The pretzel is huge and so yummy and the jalapeños were equally as good. The specialty cocktails are amazing. We had a fantastic experience here. Our flight out of Pellston was delayed SEVEN HOURS. Nothing else was open on a Sunday, including car rentals! and we were totally stranded. The owner's husband came and picked us up and the whole staff was incredibly welcoming. We were able to eat a delicious meal and see some friendly faces on an otherwise pretty terrible morning. They went above and beyond! The build your own hash with brisket was salty and satisfying and enormous, and the french toast is probably the thickest, fluffiest french toast we'd ever seen!
