The filling was so perfectly tart and sweet that we elicited contented purrs and came close to jogging back to the shop for more - had it not been for the bruising. They sell bread, pastries and pies though, I find I have eyes only for the exquisitely tempting cakes, which are just beautiful, in presentation and flavour. They also make cakes to order. They still had plenty of dim sum in the hot case along with cookies and cakes. We took a tray and piled on nine buns which cost A$40. The woman at the front originally just grabbed a bag to put them all in, but when we asked for a box, she gladly packed them up with care at no extra cost. I tried three different buns. The bread was nice and soft with a bit of a chew, although it was also thick and denser than expected. The filling of each one was just okay and I sadly wasn't wowed by any of them. + BBQ PORK BUN: This contained larger chunks of meat whereas I would have preferred more finely chopped pork. Luckily, it didn't have much fat, but the filling was more salty and savory as opposed to being sweet. + COCKTAIL BUN: This one was filled with a sweet coconut paste, which was somewhat gritty and had an underlying saltiness. After eating the first half, the saltiness became a bit much for me and I couldn't finish the last few bites. + RED BEAN BUN: Rather than a sweet red bean paste, the center had slightly mashed beans with some of them being close to whole. The best thing you can do on the weekend is come in early on Saturday or Sunday and buy a big bunch of their sandwich rolls - they'll still be hot. Of course you can get all your other bread-related products (loafs, etc), but I go for the rolls every time. My favourites are the hot chicken rolls (made on the spot, Vietnamese style) and the vanilla slice (with passion-fruit icing). The lamingtons are quite respectable too.

We had just finished lunch, so we ordered the pack of six which came in a paper pouch. The puffs are served hot right out of the machine and packed to order. Each one is about the size of a ping pong ball with the dough being eggy and airy, similar in flavor to a bubble waffle. They contained a light custard, but other than being a little sweet, the filling was completely flavorless and left us disappointed. Perhaps the appeal is that they are fresh and considered a cheap snack. I wanted to love them, but we were unfortunately let down and I'd call these puffs overrated.

We shared the bacon and cheese roll, which was a heftyboi and the perfect thing to get us ravenous for our imminent seafood feast. The bread itself was dense enough to hold up the cheese and bacon, but airy enough that it didn't immediately fill us all up. The bacon was perhaps a smidge less cooked than I generally like, but it was still very yummy. We had a few coffees also, and they were all delicious. I have a severe coffee addiction, and really considered buying one of their mugs despite the fact that I no longer have any room in my cabinets for more drinkware. IT WAS SO GOOD THOUGH. We also got a loaf of their house bread to go, so we could snack on our trip between meals and in the mornings and such (yeah, we're real chunkers, okay?). It was light and airy and delicious and perfect. I wish we had a bakery like this close to my house back home, though that'd probably be dangerous. It's nice to hsve seating but in one case a table and chairs block the counter and you can't see the prepared foods, even with no one sitting there. They also have various coffees and other drinks.
