He offered to punch out my boot while I waited but also let me try on some new boots for comparison. What a place to find pros that can help fit a very difficult foot with new ski boots. Having gone through many new boot experiences over the past 60 yrs of skiing, I usually dread the new boot experience. Head to Christy Sports in Avon. Disappointing. Rented a pair of high-performance skis. The skis could not hold an edge and worse than that the bindings continued to pop out all day. When I returned the skis and pointed out the problem with the bindings, the guy at the counter just shrugged his shoulders and told me to put the skis in the rack. I'm sure the next person who rents those skis will have the same problem. There was no concern for skier safety or performance. read more

I am in town on a ski vacation. I had a ski accident where my bindings did not released, which twisted my knee. I knew I need an adjustment on my bindings so I brought them here. Brad took the time to make my adjustments and explained to me why the adjustments were needed. He also helped me pick out a knee brace to help me make it through the week. Of note, their finest boot expert is a gentleman named Matt. Matt has helped me with multiple boot issues, so that I can get back on my board and have a comfy ride. A friend who lives in the area sent me there for rental skis. Probably the cleanest, most spacious ski shop I've ever been in and I've been skiing for over 50 years all over Europe & the US. Eric and another gentleman set me up with some great equipment and went to extra lengths to ensure everything was properly fitted. Sorry if this sounds like an infomercial but everyone I ran into there went out of their way to be helpful. Be sure to reserve equipment on-line at least a day before to get the discount. read more

Can't we give Ten Stars!? We've been coming to rent skis at Christy Sports in Avon for over 15 years because of the ever-friendly and knowledgeable approach. When we decided that this year we wanted to demo before buying, it was an easy choice to come back. However, we never expected the service level and experience would be quite as exceptional as it was for our purchase! We bought 4 pairs of skis new boots for our 2 teenage sons. We were a family that took a lot of work! Mixon and Joe did a fabulous job making sure the boys' boots were fit perfectly and they both gave great advice and provided super feedback after we tried each ski. With their help and expertise, we each selected the perfect skis for us as individuals. No one-size-fits-all approach to ski sales, rather a thoughtful and deliberate approach to our levels and skiing preferences. Their depth of knowledge about the skis and boots provided us with confidence that our choices were well-informed, and WOW, we sure are having a ton of fun on our perfectly chosen new skis. The boot fitting was exceptional. My husband and I have always had custom orthotics in our ski boots, which helps immeasurably. They were able to do it right there in the shop for our boys, and the purchase of the orthotics includes any other work that might need to be done on the boots for a perfect fit. After skiing a day, both boys did need a little extra work, and Mixon and Joe were both really good at identifying the solutions and implementing the changes each boy needed. We were in the shop a lot over the course of our trip, dialing everything in for the family. Mixon and Joe tag-teamed us for a seamless and organized experience, and it was a lot of fun. It was a great touch to be recognized as we walked in, and taken care of so well. It was equally nice to witness the teamwork of the staff and know that we were giving our business to a group of really superb people who love skiing and care about others loving it too. I had the unfortunate task to return a ski to Christy Sports due to a failure in a binding. I issue required us to miss half a day to ski as well as frustration of time to return to the store. I carried a high level of frustration into the store as I sought out the manager. I was COMPLETELY overtaken by how the store manager, ANDY DUNLAP handled the situation by understanding and taking immediate action to cure the situation as well as going above and beyond to lend the attention and quickly remedy the problem. ANDY was PROFESSIONAL, EMPATHETIC, and EMPOWERED. Rarely do we see illustrations of the attention to great customer service in a world of instant gratification and losing sight of the customer. The team got us all fitted and were pretty cool about it. My name is Joseph and I was an employee at Christy Sports during the 2019-2020 Winter season in the rental department. It was a great season filled with big snow days and fun times. As with many of the seasonal employees living in CO, I traveled home for the summer season, but I was fifty fifty on whether I would return for coming winter. I was at a bit of a dilemma as I did not have any room in my car for some of my higher volume items such as snowboards, bindings, boots, etc. and a 26-hour drive ahead of me. So, I was looking for options as paying for storage for a whole year didn't make sense and my direct manager Nick mentioned that I could keep whatever in what we called the hole, which is storage located under the retail section of Christy Sports and that if for any reason I didn't make it back out, my good friends Dawson and Mixon could just ship it to me. I was very grateful for the offer and with that decided to take everything that I might need or want for another winter season in CO, including a handful of high-quality Burton outer shells, 2 boards, one a Rome SDS, the other an older Never Summer that was once my fathers, Hestra gloves, Oakley goggles, and more, and loaded my large Burton board bag. I left for home soon after and literally my last stop before heading home was Christy Sports. To say goodbye to what I believed to be family and put my bag in storage. Fast forward 6 months. I had settled down back in Charleston and decided that moving back out to CO. was not in the cards for me. I reached out to my friends Mixon and Dawson to start working on getting my stuff back and even offered to pay 200 duckets for getting it shipped out. At first, I gave them the benefit of the doubt and figured they were just having a great winter but as it neared the end of the 2020-2021 winter season I started getting fed up. It hurt a lot to get no response, help, or loyalty from people who felt like family. On top of that there's roughly 2,000 of my equipment up in the air and no one can be bothered. After realizing that no one was going to do me the simple favor of taking my bag to the post office which is less than a quarter mile away, I reached out the store supervisor Jason and asked for his help in resolving the situation. He did give me a call shortly after and basically just said he didn't know anything about it. Couldn't help me. That's been a sore spot ever since, but I felt that I'd exhausted my options. Mixon is a huge Dallas guy and I've extracted my only measure of comedic justice is by sending him the business every time they loose. Well last night after their defeat against San Fran, he lost it and finally admitted that he had some of my things and insisted he would be throwing it all away. He then went on to say my old manager Nick was the one who had retrieved the bag and has most of my belongings. It was very disappointing to learn that because I wasn't returning to work for Christy Sports that the hard work and late hours that I had put in the previous year meant nothing to them. I would still like to recoup as much of this property as possible and am debating contacting Avon PD now have more info from Mixon. While I was very grateful for the option to keep my belongings at Christy Sports, I did not realize that I would not receive any assistance from my co-workers or my direct supervisor Nick in getting my property back should I not come back to work for the corporation.
